The joys of working from home

Working from home is not for anyone You need these basic skills: 1. Self Motivation 2. Ability to work harder than most people 3. and the ability to resist hunger when lean times come (This is an avoidable consequence if you have Extraordinary skills for 1 and 2) Working from home does not mean you have the right to just laze around and do nothing. You have to be doing something for at least 4 hours a day. Turn off the TV and get off that couch. Treat your new found freedom with respect and yourself as your own boss. If you have to, fire yourself or reprimand yourself for not working hard enough. Entrepreneurs should never slack off. It should be considered a mortal sin. Remember: you are now working for yourself and if you don't have any projects or things to sell or whatever makes money pour in, you might as well just go back to a normal 9 to 5 and slave away for someone else. These are the benefits you get: 1. More time for yourself and your family 2. Self satisfaction 3. A more positive outlook in life 4. The ability to rest when you need to 5. The time to pursue other hobbies and the list goes on So remember, working from home means you now have a job and you are your own boss. And the boss can always fire anyone, including himself. :D

That is an excellent guideline for home workers. Yes, indeed, one has to work hard to be successful working from home, which ever line of work one chooses. It is best to choose the type of work one has the skill and the experience for, rather than just choosing something to try out the luck.

I am retired and have come back to working on my being a writer. I am glad to be online and am writing articles, doing research, playing games on Facebook or chatting, doing surverys and being here on Mylot. I do not feel that I have any motivation or work harder than others. I am just addicted!

while i work outside of the house part time, i also work at home part time and it is good that you put motivation at the top because really, that is the most important!

Well, I am willing to discuss this. I admire people that are entrepreneurs and I know from my own experience I always worked harder when working for myself. My question on this however is what happens if you are not very successful then most of the benefit goes bye bye and you do risk firing yourself. I think I reprimand myself too much, more than an outside employer would ever do. Good times are great, lean times ouch!
