That as the old saying that has been confirmed by many fans. I remember there was a boy who wants to be a wrestler and he idolize a certain popular wrestler. He is his hero and he wants to be like him so when he grew up two became a wrestler himself. He met his idol in the locker room and at first he is very excited to work in the same company with his idol. His idol is the reason why he pursued his childhood dream and when he met in person he is disappointed. His childhood hero is the worst person on earth. There is a girl who is a huge fan of a certain singer and she have a huge crush on him. She always wanted to meet him in person, she wanted his autograph, that's all she wanted. When she met him in person, he didn't sign and autographs, he ignores her and stared at her like an inferior person.I can give over 100 examples of people who that hurt each emotionally after meeting each their idol who inspired them to pursue their dreams and aspirations. Anyway in youtube, you can see a lot of "Never meet your idol or you will be disappointed "videos. You can see fans having their image of their idol tainted in destroyed after meeting them in person or working with them. ---- bonus: Madonna insulted a fan's gift http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuAJo-F9wPE&feature=feedu Pitbull(rapper) punched a fan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H34rS-U759M (those are not my idols.)

This just proves that they are still human and should not be catapulted to too much glory. Though they can be perfect in some aspects or talents, this doesn't mean that their personality is perfect too. Just like other humans, they can be subject to irritation or they can have good mood or bad mood.

Do you think it's better for kids to idolize their parent or older sibling because at least they know who the person is? I think a lot of fans have a mindset that their idol is always going to be in good mood so when they met them on their worst mood that image they believed all along will be destroyed.

I wasn't really close my sisters because of their decade age gap to me as in cannot relate to them. My older brother is nothing but a bully so I never idolized him. It's nice that your class have a brother that inspired him. I just realize I never idolize anyone from my family had all.

I think it won't be a problem if their parent or sibling is a good model to them. why not. I still remember when we where ask to write about our idol back in school. Most of us wrote about athletes and superstars as our idols/heroes. But one of my classmate wrote that his hero is his older brother. He admired him because of the qualities that he have even though his brother is not that popular. I think it all boils down to personal perspective.

This is why I don't buy CDs, go to the movies, concerts or any other event. I am not saying that all famous people are bad and don't respect their fans, but they should know that thanks to us, thanks to all the people that buy their crap they are famous. We made them famous and look how many of them pay their fans. I don't idolize alive famous people..not worth it. At least I will meet Albert Einstein and blew me off when I asked him for an autograph.

Why idolize someone in the first place anyway? Admire them yes. People should realize that celebrities are just humans too subject to human frailties.

I think it's an automatic instinct of some kids. A lot of popular singers today became singers because they idolize a certain singer when they were young. A lot of teachers today became teachers because they idolize a certain teacher they have on their childhood. Some people pursue their dream because their idol inspired them.

I think if they insult their fans then in that way the fans do not understand their idols completely. If they understodd them then the picture would have been different. If you understand your idol so well then how can you irritate them to insult you even in public.

Sometimes is true. Person who we idolized does not deserve it. Some of them are very arrogant and selfish. I'm sure they forgot that their fame and money depends of us. So if they can not spend few seconds to sign piece of paper or just say thank you fo flowers or just say something that they appreciate fans so why we should waste time on them? I met in person my favourite band and I wasn't disappointed. They were charming and very very nice.

But there might be times some fans met their idol on the wrong time, on a time their idol is already full of themselves. When it comes to my favorite musicians, I rather watch them perform but I won't try to talk to them. I'm afraid my image of them will change if they open their mouths.
