I have a silly habit, I try to make people happy. Now I know in my head that happiness comes from within. nothing outside your mind can make you happy. You and you alone determine how you will react to whatever comes your way in this life. But my heart tells me I can make someone else happy, so I try. Silly, silly me.

You are not alone and you are not silly. I'm the same way always trying to make others happy. I just came back from a trip to Florida to surprise my 5 year old granddaughter and my parents. I flew from Puerto Rico to Florida (one plane ride away). Talking to my parents up to the night before with them not having a clue that I was coming. My daughter and her family picked me up from the airport and when we arrived at my parents house I ducked down in the car till my granddaughter said to her great grandpa "close your eyes we have a surprise for you" and then I jumped out of the car. My dad was so happy to see me that he teared up. We did it again in the house to surprise my mom and she too was in shock and started to cry. As for my granddaughter she saw me walking to the car at the airport and she started to wave and then hugged and kissed me in the car. She was so happy to see me as I her but then she thought I was going back to New Mexico with her where she lives. I love to make others happy and give surprises. That is why I wish I could win the lottery so I can make everyones life just a little easier and happier.

Self Happiness comes from within. When trying to make someone else happy, it depends on the other persons demeanor. Some people in this world cannot be made happy no matter what you do and some people it is very easy to make happy. Also, it depends on the approach. Now I am not saying it's your fault, like I said, it really depends on the other person.

That's not silly. If you can make someone smile or laugh or just be very considerate--like letting them cut in line before you when they have a screaming baby in the cart--you're making a big difference in their mood and their attitude toward life. I can't tell you how many times a smile from a stranger or a small courtesy has changed my day and sometimes my life for the better. Making people happy makes the giver happy. Spreading contentment and happiness makes the whole world better, one person at a time.

I agree that happiness does indeed come from within and it is not possible to make another really happy if it is not within them. I do think that although we may not really make another person truly content from the inside out we may be able to sometimes put a smile on someone’s face even if it is temporary!

I don't think it's silly at all. It feels good to know that you made someone smile. I like making people happy too. It is ultimately up to them to be happy..but a smile is a nice surprise sometimes.

I try to do the same, Pat, but sometimes it just isn't appreciated. Instead it is seen as interference. That's so sad when all someone is doing is spreading the Love! If a friend wants to help me or do something nice for me, I let them. It is their gift to me and I should accept it graciously. I would do likewise for them. Yes, happiness does come from within and it is our attitude to everything that makes the difference but isn't it wonderful when we can help our loved ones, and it is instantly acknowledged and appreciated. Blessings!

And chances are, if your experiences are like mine, instead of the person feeling happy for your intervening, they just get annoyed at you.

If making other people makes you happy then I guess there's nothing wrong with that, unless you feel bad about it afterwards.

I think people also has the ability to make other people happy since man is considered to be a " social creature". You are partly right because it depends on how a person accepts it from within. I think there is also another kind of inner happiness, that is enlightenment, call it belief, spirituality, religion or you can even have no beliefs at all and that's just fine because satisfaction comes from the inner, all these is just my own personal opinion have a nice day

Hi friend, I think there is nothing wrong with making people happy. If they are really happy for whatever you do for them, then they appreciate your presence and you make them feel relaxed and have that special moment of happiness. As you said, happiness comes from within, but sometimes happiness can be created by the surrounding, usually short lasting but its effect is just the same as inner happiness. You heart is very right and you are special for that.

You are partly right.. happiness comes from within but it is also possible to make someone happy. I have seen happen that many many times. BTW: my brother still makes me happy every day (even if he thinks he does not).
