Well, last Wednesday, they finally removed my left breast. But I wasnt sure Id be back here to tell the story. I had my last coffee and a little food at 6 in the morning. Then tried to sleep a while before the pre-op visit at 10:30 at my doctors office. I didnt think id make it through the day as my surgery wasnt until 2pm. Finally at the hospital at 12 noon. My little daughter was there with me every step. The surgeon talked with me, the plastic surgeon finally got there to and the oncologist never showed up. but it seems they all had times confused. after all this time!! geesh. thank God and all my friends here praying for me that the other doctors had it together and done a great job! yay! just before they wheeled me in, the anethesia guy came and said, "Do you remember me?" I was like, uuummm, no. lol! he said he'd been my anethesia guy 11 yrs ago. wow! that made me feel a little better. So, I couldnt believe it though when i actually woke up really well, my little girl was right there with me and stayed the whole night. Shes the best thing Ive ever done. lol. The nurses hardly had to do much with me because every time I made the slightest move she was there for me asking me what I needed. It hasnt been easy for either of us, but people are saying they are amazed at how well Ive come through. So, finally there you have it. I love you friends here for praying for me. THANKS with all my heart. Have you ever been amazed at how you made it through something? Does anyone else have a daughter as great as mine? have you ever been surprised with the same doctor showing up yrs later? like my anethesia doc?

hibunnybon I was justhinking about y ou this morning and here's your discussion. I am glad you made it through okay and that your daughter was there with you every step of the way. I was amazed when I had my shoulder joint replacement as I had fallen and smashed my left shoulder bones completely so I became a bionic woman for sure. I had such good care in the hospital but was sent to a rehab hospital and it was not the best , the aides were pretty snotty but the physical therapists were great. this time when I fell here at Gold crest I was sent to the same rehab hospital but the new people there were wonderful and i was really amazed at the kindness and attention we all got.,the same therapists were there and that did also help me so much to get well fast. My prayers are now for you to recover quickly and have no more signs of cancer at all.

Hatley..I always find it strange and annoyig for aides/caregivers to be snotty. Why did they take those positions if they couldn't be compassionate. Glad you got away from them

Children are truly gifts from God, aren't they? I'm so glad she could be there with you! And how amazing is it that your anesthesiologist remembered a patient from 11 years ago?! I want that guy if I ever need surgery, that's amazing and he must truly care about how his patients do. You might get a case of the blues after a few days, did they tell you that? I hope you don't because you've done so well and been so brave through all of this. I'm so glad you're doing well and feel good enough to update all your friends here!

So is your situation under control now that you have had this surgery? I will find out on the 7th how things are going with my treatment. I am feeling somewhat better and haven't needed to wear the binder they gave me back in August because of the pain in my abdomen. I hope things are going well for you! Have a great weekend!!!

I'm so glad that they got it all for you. That is what I was told the first time around (back in 2003). I just wish that it would all go away now. It is scary to me that I may be living with this the rest of my life, whether it is 5 years or 50. Have a great week!!!

You have a wonderful attitude and an awesome daughter and that makes all the difference. I will pray for your speady recovery after surgery. I too think God gives us children as gifts to help us through things. I remember my daughter was a God send for my mother when she became ill, and has been pure joy all her life. God Bless and take take of you and your precious daughter. How old is she??

i have 5 kids and out of them all shes the best and closest to me, my oldest son here being the second. her dad was the meanest person to me of my life, yet i would go through it all again if i had to just to have this one. she is 38yrs old but i still see that baby girl that was always so precious to me when i look at her.

Then truly she is a gift from God as are all your children, but still some are 'more special' than others. That doesn't take away from the others, it is just different. I am sorry you had a bad time with your husband..why is it we have to go through awful times and they help us the most in our character...take care..you are a special soul..

Hi there sweety, nice to read this. I'm sorry to be so late, there have been problems with my dad and so I have been away off and on and there's been no computer access at those times so I'm behind the eight ball. I don't know why but your post here made me cry. To have had all this time to build things up and be so worried and then to read that you are ok...I guess it's a huge relief. Your girl is an angel...she has been there for you body and soul and I'm happy for you that this is the case. I hope your recovery is fast and comfortable. Hugs to you.

I am glad that everything turned out well, and the plastic surgeon was there so you would not walk lopsided. Glad you little daughter was there with you. I remember when my mother was dying of cancer, that the nurses had to sneak my brother and I instead to see her as we were under age. (Yu had to be 18 at the time.) So ironic that the anestesiast knew you from before. Never had surprising good luck happen to me. Most likely it was the opposite. I thought I was going into for a small procedure and I found that my tubes had been cut off.

Some cases they do. The trouble is that here one has to wait for a while to get an appointment. I have a friend who had br*st cancer, so do not know if she had the complete mastectomy or not. It is hard to know if the lady had small br*sts or not. I did have a cyst and they told me they would just remove the tumour, it was benign, but do not know about what is done with cancer.

omg, they completely cut them off? geesh. sounds like a law suit no the plastic surgeon was there to make sure there was enough skin to cover the removed. thats all. if i want a rebuild, they do that later.

Wow. I am happy that you are okay and doing well. I am sure it wasn't a pleasant experience since you were probably scared. I know I would be with something like that. But, with all the technology there is today and the fact that you had good doctors, I am sure you felt okay with it. Now that you are done with it and back here in MyLot, I want to say, welcome back and I know you will be here for a long time. I, right now am battling Keratitus with my eyes, another bout. I have been down for the count for the last few days and right now the eyes are still blurry. But I am feeling better. I love coming here and seeing my friends and interacting with them. Again, welcome back, we need you here.

I am real happy you're alright. As far as my eyes are concerned, there are many different types of Keratitus. I have what they call Superior Limbic Kerato-Keratitus. It is not harmful to the eyes like some others are, it just hurts. It feels as if there is something in my eyes all the time. What happens is that the blood vessels on the upper part of the eye swell up and they travel under the cornea. What I feel in my eye are those swollen blood vessels. Now, on top of it all, my sinus is clogged and I went to an ENT today, he did not see any infection but had me go for a sinus x-ray. I will find out monday. In the meantime, I now have a cough from the back drip. I am taking Advil cold and sinus and a saline nose spray. I am also using an antibiotic ointment that the eyes doctor gave me to use at night. I feel a little run down but now sick. It's strange. I am hanging in there. I have not been on here in MyLot much in the last few days. I hope this goes away soon so I can be here more. Again, welcome back.

Sometimes I feel the same way. Well that is life anyway. The next day we are ok and there are days that we are down. I have been in a situation which I have to battle with stress. It's like when I was down I don't want to face the next day. But life is never easy. So we just have to endure that.

I am also soo glad that you have that great daughter of yours around to take care of you until you are better. She loves you very much. I do hope that when my children are ever put to the test that they stand by me too. Take care

what an amazing story ! I'm so gad you passed the challenge. You are now a stronger woman, and you should be very proud on yourself. My mom suffered of cancer when she was 30, and she got cured and then had a normal life. I admire people who resist those challenges life lines up for us. Sometimes I almost feel my life is bad, but when bad feelings come up to me I just smile and look up to see how beautiful my life actually is. I'm happy, healthy, I can love and I'm loved. My life is perfect, and there's no reason to go mad for little things. I always enjoy my life top, and try to teach other show wonderful life may be.
