Why?

Why is there no response after I respond to a discussion? Should I only respond to discussions started by people with a larger number next to their name? I would prefer to respond to discussions that are more likely to be responded to, do you have any advice for this?

There are some members who do respond while others don't. I have seen members with larger numbers that do not comment also. With time after interacting with members consistently, you will come to see who comments and who does not.

I should delineate as to the interactions. When a discussion starter starts a discussion and you answer it, you are responding. If the discussion starter and or another members comes in to reply in that same box as you that is a comment. So my first line should read that there are some members who do not comment, while others do.

We earn for all participation here on myLot. If you only comment to the first responder then keep in mind that you will not earn for the responses you receive. Remembering that I earn for what I type and you earn for what you type. That in mind if you receive for example 10 responses you did not earn anything for them because they typed. You will earn if you comment with quality/type back to them. Yes furthering will certainly earn you more, because: you are typing.

I can certainly understand that as there are times we apply a great deal of researched and or helpful life experience to a discussion and made to feel as if we are speaking alone. With time you will delineate who comments and who does not and this will allow you to determine if you want to and or not respond any further. Sadly some do not comment and without their acknowledgement, how will we know our efforts were read.

hi, jodylee... trust me that every mylotters have different character here.if you response a discussion but didn't get response back soon, still have your positive thinking first.they're not always online anytime.for example is me, sometime I have online time in the morning or night only, so after started discussion I just leave it and will response back after hours.but in certain day while I'm busy and don't put my focus here I give response after days, but said my sorry because I lately give my response hardworkinggurl is correct, that sooner and later you will understand mylotters character here, there are some people who only chase number beside their name, there are some people who always try to response back but need time and there are who seems not interest to response back.but, the large number beside name is not always decide that...

I had not thought of the fact that people may respond later one. How do you keep track of it so you can go back and keep the conversation going. It can be difficult to get back to certain discussions but I certainly want to get as many of them going as I can because it is so much fun.

Perfect Hatley Thanks! I will make sure to change those settings. That will make things a lot easier to keep track of. You are right about not judging participation by the number because you just never know. Time will teach me and I will be patient :)

you can learn by time, jody.longer I'm here, I understand and enjoy how to keep discussion on track and respond it back even I just leave one day.it's difficult when we're the newbie, but experience will make you better and better in giving response and started discussion.when I'm the newbie, I'm just another mess, have so many unresponse discussion since I'm confuse have not many friends here.but now, everything's fine.just don't be afraid to try, have no doubt to response discussion with the small number behind mylotters name...

hi jodylee that does not always mean that poster will respond soon but if you note when you respond to different ones of us who is quick to respond back and who takes forever then you can sort of judge who you wish to respond to as nobody likes to feel their response is never going to be read and commented on.there are somme here who still h ave not figured out that the only way to make 'good earnings is to comment back on each response.,use the word response for what you do on another's discussion and comment for what you wish that discussion maker to do to your response. its the right and the courteous thing to do for the maker of discussions to comment back on all his or her responses and also it makes the discussion a real discussion. the back and forth comments mean the discussion is taking off.

I am starting to get the the hang of this now. Is there a way to actually take virtual notes on a person? I love to see conversations take off and watch people go back and forth. Those are the most exciting to read and get in on as you can find so much to talk about. I am sure I will find my way as I continue using the site. Being a newby, there is quite a learning curve.

How long have you been with mylot? It seems you have a lot of time behind you and with it a lot of wisdom with how the site works. I am sure you have seen many come and go. It must be nice to watch people who are new get the itch and start participating regularly.

I guess a large number is a good indication that this user more or less understands how the site works. Or at least understand that people put in time to read and respond to the discussion. So, the decent thing would be to comment back, and at least say thank you to the responder

That is my assumption as well. How long have you been a member? I am finding myself more and more excited to come here each day!

Don't worry why nobody responds to your discussions or when you respond the opening poster ignores your comment. Not everyone here is wanting to share but some are here purely for the revenue *gasp* With time you will get to know who to respond to, what sections and interests are better than others etc. On a side note, welcome aboard and hope you enjoy it here!

hi teamcholent but did you know those who do not comment back as they think if they make a dozen discussions and get lots of responses that will make them rich are fooling themselves. they do not get paid for what we type on their discussion. so if they refuse to go back and comment they make a couple of pennies but comment back it can be dollars so if they are here purely for money they still will not make anything.

I would imagine those people weed themselves out pretty quickly and move on to the next get rich quick scheme. I have never got anything for doing nothing but maybe some people do. There will always be those who choose not to respond and just keep checking the account balance to see if it has gone up.

Time will certainly teach me how to get by on here. I am not here for the revenue. I think it would be great to earn something but really, it gives me a way to express myself and to grow, which is all I can ask for. Thank you! I am already enjoying myself and can see this becoming a regular place for me to visit and share!

I am a new comer and tried some new discussions.I am always getting trilled by receiving responses. As you indicated only in a few cases I posted further responses. It is only due to my suspicion about the gravity of my subject.I think the same is the cause for many. Now I have awareness about the importance of comments to responses

hi mohkanari oh yes the commenting back is what makes it a discussion it is like you and I and jodylee start talking and you ask a question and we give you our answers you just turn your back on us and walk off, we did not get to know what you thought of 'our responses as you shut us off and walked away, its rude and it tells the responder the discussion maker is not interested in their responses or he or she would have commented on them. this then becomes a real discussion. like if you had stayed and told each one of us what you thought of our responses then we would know you heard us and cared enough to comment back to us.In a way a discussion is like conversation on paper. lol lol

I suppose when we become aware of how the site works, we will unveil the true beauty of the site. I hope you will be confident in your subject matter and feel your ideas and opinions are important enough to share.

It is nice to hear back on a response to continue the discussion. It is like a discussion on paper, back and forth... Kind of wish this site had texting abilities because I would have a lot activity if it did.

I think I have nothing more to say because most of the great people I know here already said what I would have, in the boxes right above me, and so I will just bid you good luck on everything you do.

Hello Jodylee, There is no rule that someone has to comment back to the responses but to make discussion interactive on should comment back to the response. There are people who do comment back and back till they reach to the conclusion or get tired of commenting and there are users too who never comment back to the responses. It depends on person to person but if you ask me i like to respond to the discussion on which i know i will get a comment as that way i enjoy discussion. It hardly matters if you high numbers against your user name only thing which matters here is the quality of your responses.

I do not fully understand the number by the name. I am learning that it does not really matter. The quality and the quantity of the response is what makes a difference right? It is actually kind of nice figuring out how to maximize the site. And, learning how many different perspectives there are here. I hope to engage in many conversations and continue to respond to those discussions I find exciting.

Thank you for reminding me of that! It is more to me the learning experience then the profit. When I comment, most times, it is because I want to learn or I have an interest in seeing how other people feel about a topic.
