From all the comments I have been reading, it really sounds like a waste of time trying to make money from writing. It sounds like a lot of hard work for very little money in return. I am very disappointed by this because I would like to write and be able to earn an income but a dont think a few cents at a time will make a very good wage to live on. What do you think? Is it a waste of time?

in a sense, you are right. It is very hard to make good money writing unless you get a writing job. There are jobs you can apply online for for regular work at good salaries. But if you don't get one, and you're only writing for sites like a bukisa or helium or triond, chances are you won't make much money. The reason to write online is because you love to do it – because you love to write. That's why I write online because I find it fulfilling and enjoyable. When I publish an article, I feel like I've accomplished something valuable. When I get hits to my article and people read it, I feel validated. And when the money appears in my account, even if it's only a few cents a day, I feel good. The only real reason to write online is because you love to write and if you do, then the money will be just a perk. That's really the way it goes. I write for the love of it, and the money is just an extra little thing. You kind of have to look at it that way – just like I look at that way on my lot. I don't make a lot of money here, but I enjoy my interactions with people. And then seeing my earnings go up is just a little extra, the icing on the cake. That's what I think anyway. If you really want to make money, I would apply for writing job. Or go to one of the freelance sites like elance. I think you can make better money there

I really like your attitude! I enjoy writing too. Im a student and Im looking for some oportunities to make money online. It seems to be really hard. I really like myLot, but its kinda hard for me to write. My english is on low level and its hard to get my thoughts out. On the other side its not a bad idea to be here. I think i can improove my english a little by reading topics and trying to communicate. :)

I think being on t is an excellent way to learn English! When you read other people's responses and their posts you are learning to understand what they've written, and when you respond, you are learning to write. They say that the best way to learn a foreign language is the converse with people who already know it. And that's basically what you're doing on mylot. So I think it's probably an excellent opportunity. Also, I think it's a great site to interact with people all over the world from a social standpoint. Part of the reason why like mylot so much is that there are people wanted from all over the world – and I get to talk to people from different countries who I would never meet in real life. I like getting different perspectives on things learning about what life is like in other countries. But yes, I think you should definitely stay on my lot. I think your English is pretty good, by the way. Keep it up!

Hello Opalina, I agree with you, writing is not only for money but passion. I enjoy posting here in Mylot because I got a chance to know the thoughts of people around the world. I feel like I am communicating with somebody when Im here. I am not just here to earn but to enjoy as well. Same as writing, I am also into writing and I experienced rejections, but those rejections became my motivation to write and write. I am writing because I wanted to express my thoughts and knowledge to one topic, earning also is a second thing for me. Thanks for sharing wonderful thoughts Opalina!

Oh come on! Anything is a waste of time if you are not enjoying what you are doing. If your passion is writing, you will not see it as a waste of time. I think that your main goal is to earn money and not writing. That's why you think that writing in a sense is a waste of time. If you want to earn more, go for other big time earning sites and ventures. Always remember that anything you do is not worth doing and will be considered as a waste of time if it doesn't fulfill, satisfy or make you happy doing it. Just my two cents in here.

Yes, you do enjoy writing but still you are focused on the earning side. Just go with the flow of things with writing. There really is no quick returns with the effort you put on writing. If you write, then enjoy it and appreciate the small earnings. Suddenly you'll find yourself actually enjoying the writing very much and tend to improve your writing skills more. Then after, you will be passionate with writing and will eventually look for other writing jobs because you are passionate about it. That is when the earnings will shoot up. Plus, the improvement in your writing skills that you gained will eventually give you more earnings. That's how things work. There is no easy way to be successful or earn big. You have to put the effort, be passionate about what you do and eventually the earnings will come. Just my two cents in here.

Actually I do enjoy writing, but I dont see anything wrong with trying to make a living out of something you enjoy doing, especially if you are unemployed and need to earn a living as there isnt too many jobs around where I live and I am older so would find it very hard to get a job even if there were any available.

If you could write up to four to five articles a day and post them for upfront payment on associated content you might do good and then of course you will get paid for your page views as well too but does take some time at first as well. I dont conisder this a great income of course but i do like doing this on the side. I dont do 4 or 5 articles a day because i do have a full time job as well too and then of course i try to submit one article a week then do a slideshow if i get some time as well as i take pictures when i get out of town and that helps as well. Goodluck and i wish you the best of luck.

You cannot earn good amount just by posting and writing article. You may visit Odesk, Elance and other freelancing sites because those sites offer good amount for work. It has different kind of work which you may wanted to work with. However, writing could lead you to good source of income if you would just have a time searching and trying for the best site.

you are absolutely right i work my butt off on four different web sites for hours every day for extremely little money in return this is time i could be spending with friends and family dont get me wrong i am not looking to get rich but i would like working on all the different web sites to at least cover to put gas in my car for the month im lucky if i even make ten dollars a month i am in quite a bind right now and need the money and every little bit helps so wrether or not it is a waste of time or not just depends on how desperately you need the money (im on here every day so obviously im pretty desperate) i wonder if it would be possable for everyone to get together and demand that they pay us more for responding to discussions on here?

Writing well is one of the hardest thing to do.It requires talent, hardwork, and a lot of passion. And to maintain your online writing job and get good salary, you have to write well.I admit I cannot write well yet,and my english is still too poor so I find writing online too hard and a waste of time.I applied yesterday for an online writing job,but I was rejected. They say my grammar is too poor.Starting an article is also very hard when your brain is empty.I know there are times where our brains get empty, and we cannot think of something to write.Just stick to mylot if you think your english is still poor.It will improve your writing.I am doing it to improve my grammar.

If you enjoy writing and you want to make extra money, it's not a waste of time, but if you don't like writing and you're just doing it for the money, it's not going to be any fun.

When something is a waste of time, that means you are not willing to do it. You are not interested in the thing you are do. Under the circumstance that the repay is low and you are doing a bored job, it's reasonable to change one.

Unless you enjoy the work it will be waste of your time wether you earn some money or not. For me being here is not a waste of time because here you express your thought your openion and read of other's share your experience. It is a very good source of learning because here you learn by other's experience.
