Modern Family did very well but even with the type of all participating cast they have why were they all in the supporting category and not in the lead category. The Big Bang Theory had two in the lead actor category; so Modern Family should have also. This is really true for the women since there are two main women and then the two female kids could be in the supporting category.

I agree that Modern Family did well last night. Its a funny show that makes me laugh every episode. The show has great casting and I'm looking forward to the new season. I don't know why nobody was in the lead category for the show.

Both the male and female actors on the show got together and decided to submit themselves in the supporting category and not the lead category.

O'K, thanks; I didn't know that. Still I think they should be in the lead position to open it up for the younger ones on the show who are very good.

There is no leading character on Modern Family. Can you actually choose who you would think plays the leading role on that show? It's like saying which hostess of The View is the lead hostesss and which are supporting hostesses. Modern Family is a group cast and to separate one character as the lead would be unfair and wrong. I feel the same way with Big Bang Theory BUT most of the show takes place in Sheldon and Leonard's apartment so they can be considered lead role while others are supporting actors. I thought the Emmys were quite one-sided with Modern Family winning so many awards. They are not the ONLY comedy show on television. Jane Lynch was fabulous when she made the statement after a commercial "Welcome back to the Modern Family Awards". I am quite skeptical of the Emmy Awards now anyway because being in Canada, a lot of the shows nominated aren't even shown here. They are HBO shows. I'm speaking mainly about the dramas now. I've never heard of half the shows - Justified, Killing... Ever since the Sopranos on HBO came out all these HBO shows are taking over the awards shows and we haven't seen any of them. I watch the Emmys for the entertainment aspect - the host, musical numbers, comical banter - and sometimes for the awards but I can honestly say the only people nominated I cared about were on Big Bang Theory and Law&Order:SVU. CSI and Law and Order have been getting the shaft since the beginning. I'm rambling but I answered your question in the first paragraph. Modern Family is a group cast and has no lead character.

Then why can't the same be said for the men on The Big Bang Theory? If the two guys nominated from there are lead actors and in that category, why aren't the two women treated as lead actors on Modern Family and the female kids(one of which is played by a woman in her twenties) considered to be supporting roles?
