Hi folks, it's been a long time i had been away from this site. A warm hello to all (obviously i am getting myself invited into getting whip-lashed by some of my old friends here, God help me) . How are you all doing ? I just got myself a new android phone i wanted and i am quite satisfied with it, it's not a high end, not something i can afford unless i start to earn for myself. So folks, what is it that you want ? It could be blackberries, or the upcoming iphone 5 (oh btw i don't really like iphones and ipods :P) . What is it that you want/admire, your dream gadget ?

Thats great voldrox..!! Even i upgraded to a Android(HTC Wildfire) 2 months back and I am more than satisfied with it. I previously owned a Symbian and according to me Android is way better than Symbian. Even i dont like the iphone mainly because its too costly here in India. I will like to give it a try if they release a slightly cheaper phone... Anyways which phone did you purchased..???

Wildfire S was released just 10-15 days after i purchased Wildfire. So that was quite sad. If i would have waited for 2 more weeks i could have got a even better phone. Though HTC phones are a bit expensive 1 thing i love about them is the HTC Sense UI which according to me is much better than the Touchwiz UI in Samsung. But Samsung ACE is a excellent phone otherwise. It has a major advantage with the processor speed. 800 mhz is quite rare in similarly priced phones...!!! Good luck with you Android..!! And dont forget to install a good Antivirus in it(I suggest NetQin or Norton)..!!

I have to say i got the ACE because of the price which was quite reasonable. Wildfire makes an excellent phone, and HTC build quality is always good, something you should be proud of. I wish i had aluminium body phones like the HTC's but well you have to pay quite some cash for those, and they are that good too. Yeah, the sense UI is the most popular android UI, I haven't used one but everyone says it's better than touchwiz, touchwiz is quite simple to use and doesn't require much processing power i guess, that is why Galaxy phones are pretty fast to operate. HTC isn't slow or laggy but yes sense UI gives you more options for customization. I like my Galaxy ACE and i think it is going to be sometime before i would want to get myself another phone. I guess my next one is going to be an HTC android, or perhaps Samsung or LG will launch another nice phone at reasonable price by then, who knows. Every android phone has their own advantages and HTC has an advantage in build quality and sense UI. Oh is it really required for me to install an Anti-virus ?
• India
23 Sep 11
Yes it is important to install a Antivirus. There are lots of applications available in the Android Market and many of them are contain viruses or trojans specailly made to steal your personal info or for doing other such unethical stuff. Having a Antivirus keeps you protected from these threats. Also web browsing is checked to keep your mobile clean. So i think its a must for a platform like Android where threats are detected almost on daily basis..!! Try the free versoin of Netqin. I think its enough.. You also get a very important utility of Traffic Manager to keep a check on your Internet Data usage just in case if you have a limited data plan in your mobile..

Hi there, It's a Samsung galaxy series phone and it's decent. Well, it's not like the iphone isn't good, it is quite good actually but they are a little overpriced for the phones they are, but i have to say using the iphone is pretty slick and quite fast but they don't allow flash content in the internet and they don't have customizable widgets and customizable home screen either. You don't get a lot of choice for customization in the iphone, otherwise they make quite great phones.

Hello Strovek, yeah LG is also cheaper but there isn't much difference in price when compared to Samsung phones, they both are cheaper than HTC android phones though. You get a lot of value for money in Samsung and LG phones, but i tend to go with Samsung don't know why. Just saw the LG 3D phone, man that is so expensive and has dual cameras to capture photos in an three dimensional illusion types display.

Hi Vinay, That is good phone, i am sure you are getting most out of it. I have bought myself a Samsung galaxy ACE, which is a mid range phone but it gives a very nice android experience, and it's even fast, that is the best thing i like about the phone. It runs fast and makes it feel like a high end phone. Although i like the build quality of the HTC's more coz they look quite premium and sony ericsson is also too cool.

Hey vinay you know what i have installed handcent sms from android market and i have replaced my stock messaging app with this one coz i get to customize a lot. I have changed the inbox background, changed the bubble transparency colour and a LOT of things and i am simply loving text messaging with handcent sms. You can even see the delivery report with a check mark to see if the message was delivered or not and you get a whole lot of fantastic options. The only thing is that i had to change so many things that i am afraid that if i would have to upgrade the software i would have to reset all of them and there were a lot of them. Anyways, i just wanted to say that you might want to try out handcent sms from android market.

Well, you don't miss me so I have to find another guy to play with... I am still learning all the features now. Do you know if I can phone using the tab? I had thought I could, but after a few days trying I am not sure if I thought right... Maybe I should get back to the shop and ask. Marrying you? Then you would go exploring on your own for several months before you got back to me? Not likely, Voldie... Weell the blackberry handset in itself is okay, though I think the model is so outdated...:)

Hi voldrox Good to see you back. Unfortunately I am having the phone you don't like.. Iphone 3gs. But I am happy with it... About the newer one.. I would like to have Samsung Galaxy s2. Which is cool android mobile. It is costly and I am already saving for it.

Hi akp, nice to see you too. Oh... And how did you spectaculate that android users don't like the iPhones ? lol, thats actually true in most cases, iPhones users don't like android and android users don't like the iPhone, lol. Actually you don't even have a lot of choice in apple products, but you do have a lot of different types and makes of android devices. The SG S2 is currently the most powerful cell phone out there at this moment, with a dual core 1.2GHz processor. I am sure that is going to gel old soon too. I am so happy with android that my next device is going to an android too. Only the next time it will be a little high end, i am now having a mid range android device because i can't afford to spend a lot of money m only studying. The Sony Ericsson Xperia arc seems to be quite an attractive handset too, it looks lovely. The Galaxy s2 is stunningly thin but the main problem with android devices is their poor battery life. One who is looking for a nice smartphone has to compromise the battery back up.

Yeah, i wanted to say i am not a fan of apple products actually he he, not like i hate apple products but they seemed to be too much hyped about and that is the one thing i don't like lol, people always talking about iPhone and stuffs i don't really want to listen to that. Anyways, yeah if you are going to buy the S2 then i have to say you are going to buy the most awesome phone in the history. There are more newer and cooler smart phones coming in but currently this is the best, and it is so thin too. It's quite expensive too. I think i would have bought the HTC sensation because they look quite classy and business like. Yeah, big screens and faster CPU's have to compromise the battery life.

Well.. You mentioned in the discussion that you don't like ipod and iphone.. But I am iphone user but I love android phones more.. That's why i thinking to switch it with s2.. But it will take time.. Yes I have seen that sony phone and yes its very cool.. About batteries.. I guess its okay but its having too much features and due to that we are using it more in daily basis than the normal phone.. May be that's why we feel that its battery power is weak.

I would actually want an ipod touch 5. I want to save up when I earn a good descent amount. I want to get one as I lost my ipod touch 4. If I can't earn enough for that, I would just go for going out to the movies, dinner, etc. There are a lot that I would want though. But Christmas is coming up so I think I will be able to get something in that month.

Hi fear, :) So when is the iPhone 5 going to be released ? I would definitely like to see what android has to face in competition with a newer iPhone. As for android users, the iPhone is the closest rival next to blackberries. :D Oh nice, keep saving for the new phone. I sure you are going to be happy with your phone. The only thing i don't like about them is that you don't get to customize the phone as per your needs, you get a lot of iconic menus and no live widgets or similar things for the homescreen. There is no proper homescreen actually, you get icons. I have to see what the new iPhone is going to offer. The hardware as usual is good in the iPhone 4 it's only the iOs that i don't like. Itouch is cool and pretty thin, but when it comes to music i rather like players which audiophiles prefer, like the cowon because music quality is my main concern.

Welcome back my friend! I promise not to whip you. I had put off getting a smart phone for many years. I thought that I did not need one and could do without the extra cost as I had a really good long running deal with my old phone where it hardly cost me anything and actually cost me nothing if I did not use it. But then came the need for my growing daughter to have a phone at times so she could contact us and we could contact her. And I saw the business benefits of having a smart phone. So my wife and I both got the same Android phones and we have kept our old phones and my old sim to use when my daughter needs it which is not often. I keep getting bills for my old sim, but they are for 0.00 mostly! Another thing that I got this year was a motorbike. I had not had one for eleven years and had been wanting one the whole time, so lately I have been enjoying being back on two wheels again and am enjoying it more and more all the time. It was worth the wait!

Hello Rawbill, nice to see you Thanks, for not whipping me, he he he.. Oh thats great, got yourselves new android phones, pretty cool aren't they ? he he the newer generation is definitely going to want smartphones and we can't blame them either. They are pretty handy and you actually get a lot of advantage like the gps and all but you have to shell in a few extra bucks to buy them but i am sure they are worth it. Oh, i see you got yourself back to two wheels after a long time. That is going to be very refreshing, literally, lol .. Well, these smartphones are not worth much if you don't activate your internet services and they begin to get actually expensive when you activate it. Enjoy your bike.

Welcome to the world of the technology! Well hello and a warm welcome back! I have been a blackberry user for several years and really liked it. My cell phone provider just a month ago gave me a brand new iPhone4 for my loyalty as a valuable customer. I do not really surf the web with it, but enjoy my new phone. I tried to myLot with it and oh no, this girl needs a big screen. lol I really do not have any upcoming gadget dreams but if any business wants to give me something new for free, I will welcome it. Enjoy your Android!

Hello Hardworkinggurl, nice to see you. Blackberries are great, they have excellent connectivity and must be joy to type on the nice keyboards but carrying them feels like a businessman when m just a student he he... Well android and the like of iphones are more popular with young students. Yeah a big screen is what i like too and i android has plenty of them too. :) Iphone must be joy to use since they are one of the smoothest running devices. iPhone4 for loyal customer, wow thats great. Wish i could get an iPhone for free too. If you are going to use mylot on the phones then i guess, it must a joy typing on your blackberry device. Btw i like the android keyboard too, very slick and easy to type fast in. The latest blackberry bold 9900 running blackberry 7 OS is the latest hit now. Yeah, i am so happy with android that my next phone is going to be an android too, next time a dual core processor high end phone, with my own money.

Hi ronadelle, That is the current HTC flagship phone i guess. It's specs are amazing. One of my dream phones too, just following the Galaxy S2 which is a little more impressive. HTC phones have a solid and premium build quality and the sense UI is awesome, better than the rather simple touchwiz. My current phone is a galaxy series phone and i have to say i am quite pleased by my phone. It is going to stay in pocket for a while now. :) Although, i believe my next choice could be an HTC android phone. But android for sure. I hope you get dream android phone one day.

The best thing about Android phones is that, you can do a lot of customization with it. What Android version are you using? The current Android version is Android 2.3 Gingerbread. I'm also an Android device owner and my devices are customized, from its ROMS to its themes. Its been real fun owning an Android.

Hello tonio, Yeah that is the best thing about android phones, you get to customize you phone, build you own ROMs and do what you like but you are voiding the warranty but then who cares. I still haven't rooted my phone. Can you tell me the advantages of rooting my android phone ? I received my phone and it was froyo but later i upgraded it to gingerbread and i can see the difference, it is running smoother and the battery life has increased significantly. Love gingerbread. I am sure my next phone is going to be android for sure, but it is going to take a while for me to begin saving money for my next phone because this phone doesn't seem to bore me at all. Well i don't have a high end device, i have the Samsung Galaxy ACE. Which phone have you got ?

Hello! And what phone did you buy? I am curently saving money (from myLot and stuff like that) for a new phone. When I will have enough money to buy it, I will spend it all for it. Probably I will buy iPhone, but not 5. It is almost the same as 4. If they release iPhone4 GS, then I will buy that, because the price will be a lot lower than the other versions of it. But yesterday I was trying out Samsung Galaxy ACE and I have to say that I am impressed. Not by design and other visual stuff but by the system. It is actually quite fast and not bad at all. But I must say that the phone was new and there were not any applications on it. I also tried another Android phone, few months old and friend had a lot of applications on it. But it was very very slow. The problem is that Android developers are allowed to do with the phone whatever they want. They can access to almost every system process and file. But when we are talking about iOS applications developer they are doing things differently. They do not have as much permissions as Android developers. This results in better reliability and fast system. System will work for itself and every application will work for itself, when in Android everything works all over eachother. Was just reading an article last week that is why I can explain this. :D

Hi zassx, :) It's the Galaxy ACE you are talking about, i have that phone! He he... It's pretty fast and slick, yeah doesn't come with a lot many apps but you can download a lot more from the android market. Well, the ACE is quite affordable and you get a nice value for money for that, but if you are willing to spent a little more then you can go for Galaxy S which is monster, or you also do have the choice to buy that awesome weather proof Motorola DEFY which is an awesome phone too, you can submerge the phone, literally yes! It's dust proof water proof and it's quite rugged and you don't need to worry about handling a touchscreen with utmost precaution coz it is a very rugged phone. The Galaxy S is amazing but the Galaxy s2 is the most powerful phone yet, with a 1.2GHz dual core processors..!

Yeah, that is the main problem with iOS, you don't get to customize it and you have all iconic menus, no live working widgets and customizable home screen, you get icons in every page on your menu. This is where the android really beats the iOS. I don't know why the people at iOS don't make it more customizable and why don't want to support flash while net surfing.

Hi voldrox, I can see how mighty you are in drumming, welcome back to our world. As for new gadget that I wanna have very soon, with my money of course is Nokia N8- I just wanna experience the power behind its camera. The screen is big too which gives it cool display and some cool feature they say it has.
