Bet the title has got you going??? Hot water bottles As the frostly weather blows in, save energy and money on oyur heating bill by taking a cosy hot water bottle to bed with you. Always remember to take care when filling up a hot water bottle, use hot water, NOT boiling water, don't overfill it, and make sure the stopper is firmly in place before using. Fill it up with bath or shower water to avoid water wastage. Wrap pyjamas around your hottie an hour before you go to bed for a toasty treat. Use the cooled water for a houseplant the next morning. NO WASTE anywhere. What do you think? Some good ideas here?

I think those are great ideas. However I employ the one entitled "The Boss". She gets into bed 15 minutes before me and the bed is lovely and warm in the middle and cooler on the edge when I get in and is just how I like it! Years ago when I used to stay with my Granny I would have flannelette sheets, a coal fire in my room and about a flock of sheep fleeces on top of the bed. Super toasty!

Hi ya Anne18 We are not quite ready for hotwater bottles in our house but I am sure it won't be long. My boys still haven't got out of the habit of wearing just their underwear to bed and wearing t-shirts and shorts out and about hahaha Those bloomin' dark nights are drawing very quickly though so I will venture into the cupboard under the sink and dig out and dust off the hotwater bottles in preperation for the inevitable!

This is interesting. It would probably be uncomfortable I would think, but be a good way for helping keep things warm. Most of the time when cooler weather hits here I would rather just curl up in a warm blanket especially when sleeping and just relax, but this seems like it might not be a Bad idea to try sometime too.

I didn't know you could still buy hot water bottles. That is a good idea. I usually put on socks and warm jammies. Using the water the next morning for a plant is a good idea. No waste is important now days. Yes, I think hot water bottles are something to keep in mind for the Fall.

Hiya Anne, That bit about not using boiling hot water is very good too as it makes the rubber go all floppy and can spring a leak as well depending on the quality. Hot Water Bottle in part cured my Shoulder great pain killer and no tablets just wrap a towel around it and nestle it as near as you can to the pain in the shoulder that way you can have the heat there longer without it getting too uncomfortable. Worked for me might not for others I suppose. You can also have two put one in Bed if its a really cold night before you go to Bed to get into an already nice warm place and the other with a blanket on the Sofa with you. Great tips too.xxx

Wow, thanks for the tips! Those sound like very good tips to be frugal and conservative! I will keep these in mind for when it gets even colder. I do like the cold weather, as I can sleep better, but sometimes it just gets way too cold to be comfortable!
