Am I making the right decision for my family?

I've recently resigned from my job because of several factors. I believe I can raise what I receive for pay by working on my own time. I can do a lot of things like the following:
1. Writing online
2. HR consultancy
3. Training
4. Painting
5. Charcoal drawing
6. Report writing
7. Teach part-time
However, whenever I get to think of my family, I have to qualms - one is that doing the above things means irregular flow of income and 2nd, my sister is about to give birth. Can I afford to lose my job when even she is not working?
My father has his way of earning. But since I'm matured enough, I believe that I should not be a burden for them. Also, to start with working freelance, I need to invest on new laptops and continue the monthly subscription of our DSL. I need also an office that is quiet and where they would not disturb me.
I now ask myself, am I doing the right thing for myself and my family? I need to do this now and prove to myself that I can be a good entrepreneur and independent person.
Can you give me an advice?

In this difficult times it's very risky to quit from a job. But in your case I do believe that you can be a good entrepreneur. Just believe in yourself. You have to pray for it and have faith that God will bless all your plans and dreams in life.

Thanks masang for the vote of confidence. I will try my best to focus on what I wish to do and yes, I would try finding a business that I can start with. This way, I will be working for myself and not just for other people.
I'll pray deeply and work hard... Thanks for the advice.

From where I'm reading your post, I think resigning from your job in these hard times sounds like a very risky and reckless decision but since I do not know the kind of job you've had, the amount of stress you had, the kind of bosses you had to encounter everyday, and all the other factors that you didn't mention anymore, you alone know if your quitting was justified or not.
If you put your heart into something, and you love what you do, I'd say give it a try. It doesn't matter if you fail the first time, just work harder and keep hustling till you achieve it.
I believe that we have a God who never fails and will provide for you in times when you are in need. My only advice to you is, don't dwell on any regrets. If God closes a door, he breaks an entire wall so blessings will overflow. Keep yourself positive and believe in your talents.

Hello Theresaaiza.
You nailed my situation. I have a job that is so stressful because of too much politics. The good thing with it though is that I get to meet people and I learned a lot from the said experience.
I have the same belief that if I would be doing the things that I really love, then working wouldn't have to feel like being tortured. I really wish to have a job that it would feel like I am just playing.
I agree with you... I would just have to put my heart into it and pray for His guidance.
Have a nice day!

Personally with decisions like this, it is really a hard thing to decide. You have the luxury of the guaranteed income, but at times that is not leaving you enough time for your kids, and your family and so you really want to find other ways out there to help this. These other ideas you do have are Great.
You just need to be willing to take the time to do these things to have them happen, and stay encouraged and motivated as well. I am sure you have discussed this with your husband and made sure this is what is best. And as always a little Prayer asking God for guidance with this never hurt as well.

Hi KrauseHome.
I felt good reading your comment. I don't get much encouragement coming from my family. I cannot blame them because their understanding of a good life is having a secured job. But there are a lot of other things that matters much more to me.
Thanks again for your good wishes for me. See your around mylot

I am going to assume that you are still living at home with your parents from your post. If that is not correct, then I am sorry as that is the way it sounded. However, my advice to you would be to take it slow and go from there. You might want to consider a part time job at first while you get a reputation and get your freelance work started. It is slow to begin with most of the time. If this is what you really want to do, though, I would say go for it. Just take it slow, and don't try to rush it. Good luck.

Hi mehale.
Thanks for commenting. I actually started applying for freelance work online. Luckily, somebody trusted me with a new project and I hope I can do this for a long time. I hope to earn through writing and taking consultancy job.
Yes, I am still living with my family. Since I am still single and being the eldest in the family, I took it on my shoulder to be responsible for my parents and younger sister. We have other source of income and I think my family would be able to survive from it. Maybe I am just such a worry-wart person. Anyway, I'll take your word and take it one step at a time.
Have a nice day!

Actually, I have tried once not to work full time and I was able to find some minor projects online. I did not receive the same salary but I have this thinking that if I can just develop a strong habit of working 8 hours a day, then I'll be able to get that. However, I learned that I was not so disciplined to strictly keep my working schedules.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice day cowgirl3051979.
