Euthanasia in other words mercy killing is the act of ending one's life relieve him/her from suffering. So euthanasia can be classified to having the patient's consent or without (since he may be brain dead, in a coma or other situation where he isn't conscious). Morally, this is wrong because we don't have the right to end a person's life. But I am kind of approved of this practice, because it's hard to see our love ones suffering right? though if there is hope i will continue to support him/her and will not end his life until he has the will to live. How about you? are you in favor of euthanasia?

I don't exactly favor euthanasia but then I believe in individual choices. It all depends on the person's or the family's choice. It's not about 'our' morals, it's 'their' moral issues, right? I'm just a pro-choice. Life is full of choices. Life is all about choices. :)

I guess so. And do we have to legalized that? It's our life anyway. Although religious people say that it was given to us by the Lord hence we have no right to give it up..

People think of Euthanasia only when they are suffering from unbearable pain or when they don't have anybody to look after them day and night. We can't imagine the pain they pass through- physically and mentally. Hence it is our duty to respect their decision and we should not come in the way of their wish. At least we can decide on the intensity of their suffering and Euthanasia should be allowed.

First, let me say; " I do not concur with blanket approval of euthanasia"....I think each case should be taken on a VERY individual basis, thoroughly investigated...and in compliance with the affected one's wishes! Just a year ago, I experienced this situation with my brother-in-law, and because of his foresight..the families decision was less complicated. In B.C., Canada, we have a legal document called a "Living Will," which takes that heavy decision away from the family/loved ones...BUT it does NOT lessen the anguish and pain! Even tho' every Dr./Specialist concurred it was right to take away the LIFE support...we ALL still walked away with a kazillion "what if's?" in our mind, and it still at times, haunts me today. Was that the right thing..right time? And, when around the discussion--cyber or real world..it is still there to haunt me?

i agree decisions like this really leave remnants of "if's" and regrets either what if he lives? or something like that.

I guess I would have to add --- is it QUANTITY of life (number of years)....or the QUALITY of Life (being kept alive by all manners of life support). If this question were directed at me, and my wishes...I would opt for quality, and if not there...pull the plugs! So many times you read of persons whom have recovered from deep coma's--so there's the what if?

Viney17..thank you for posting such a good topic for discussion, and I am sorry that even tho' I sounded committed...I am still a fence sitter, other than for my self! And, I truly wish to thank you for the golden pencil (best response)..as it is very nice to know that sometimes I can contribute something of value to a discussion/conversation, so it is greatly appreciated, as is your quality topic. Also, I am truly hoping that you are enjoying your time here, at MyLot!

I don't have a problem with euthanasia. Why should I? It's up to the patient to decide how or what. People who are against it I don't understand. If they have a sick dog or cat or rabbit they go to the vet and ask for euthanasia and that they call a human thing to do. So I can only conclude that people are more human to animals as they are to the one(s) they say they really love.

agree people sometimes judge without them considering the state the patient is in, they only go with their emotions

If you believe in miracle then do not go with euthanasia. But as for me, there's no such thing as miracle, everything must be supported with concrete evidence. It is true that killing one's one life is immoral, but why do you let your love ones suffer like that. It's not right isn't it? But it's okay.
