Hope that got youre attention but anyways I was wondering if you have had this experience I went to the dr and he told me I have to lose 25 pounds I am working on it but the reason is that I have a hernia and they say with my weight the surgery would not work has anybody told you that before and did the surgery work?

I have not been told anything like this before. I know that I need to lose some weight though. I hope everything turns out okay for you.

I think your doctor wanted you to lose weight because prior to operation doctors usually order a cardio-pulmonary clearance, depending on your age, meaning a routine check if your heart and lungs are healthy and will be able to maintain vital functions during an operation. Thus is you are overweight/obese for that matter you are in a "medium" risk in a cardiac-pulmonary clearance meaning there is a medium probability that complications may arise from surgery or anesthesia. Another reason is that since (I assume, apologies if otherwise) you are overweight/obese, there is an increase in intraabdominal pressure and weakening of the abdominal muscles pushing your inner organs down hence the hernia. Thus even if surgery is done there might be a risk of re-herniation.
