Movie: The Exorcist 1973

When movie actress Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn) begins to suspect that an evil spirit is possessing her young daughter, Regan (Linda Blair), she calls in two priests (Max von Sydow and Jason Miller) to try and exorcise the demon against frightening and formidable odds. Writer William Peter Blatty scored an Academy Award for his big-screen adaptation of his own novel; the film also won an Oscar for Best Sound. -Netflix This is the first time I have ever seen this film and I found it to be rather good. I felt that the voice over for the little girl wasn't the greatest but it wasn't that bad either. It was rather creepy during parts more creepy then I thought it would be. I have heard the the little girl who was played by Linda Blair had to go threw therapy from being in this movie! I think I would be a little iffy about having my young girl play a part in this kind of movie. What do you guys think about this movie? I found it to be a good movie from the past.

I never really cared for The Exorcist but I did find the third one a bit freaky and liked it a lot. There is no way I would let my children have a part in a movie like that. Then again my Mam let me watch all the horror movies when I was younger so I blame her for my addiction lol

I have seen the original movie when I was still in the 7th grade and had read the novel as well. The film was considered revolutionary for her time as well as gory & creepy coming from a conservative 1950's and 60's but was rather quite ordinary already going to the 80's and 90's or the era of the beta max and vhs tapes. No I won't let my little daughter play a role like that.

I did not watch this horror film although it is now a classic because i don't think I have the heart and nerve to watch it. Even when I have the chance to watch it, i still refrain from doing because i am really afraid of the scenes. I have a weak heart for this genre!

There are 5 films altogether. 1-3 and then the 2 prequel movies in 2005 and 2006. put of them all number 3 did it for me although many hate it. It is based on the third novel Legion. The Exorcist (1973) born that year Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977) The Exorcist III (1990) Exorcist: The Beginning (2004) Dominion:(2005) the most recent ones are prequels. They are ok. But you might like piecing together the timeline for this one You are good with the timelines The last exorcism is not related to these ones my friend but has the same theme.
