I am actually not very surprised that Vidic has retired. Most Man U stars tend to retire from their international teams pretty early. I am not sure if Sir Alex manages to convince his players to put club over country. Dejan Stankovic has served for long, so I think he has retired more from a age aspect than anything else.
Cheers!

It's time for them to retire from the national team. IF they keep on playing, they can only be playing for the world cup qualifiers and if they do qualify, they will be 32 when the actual world cup starts. By then it's not wise to drop them because new players do not have the experience on the big stage. It's a wise move for the both of them in order for serbian national team to blood new players.

Vidic is one of the best defenders in the world in my opinion, and I think he is a great loss for the national team. I don't believe that this is a decision made by himself, he was certainly influenced by the officials of Manchester United also, who want the players just for themselves.
As for Stankovic, I think he is older than Vidic and he is also close to retiring for good. I can understand Stankovic's decision, but I think Vidic could have stayed a few more years at the national team.

yes, stankovic is older than vidic...i think this is the right time for stankovic..
and vidic reason is he want to give chance for another player for playing for serbian national team..
i think thats great reason too...it`s not only MU push for vidic play only for MU...but for national team sake i think

If Vidic thinks that he cannot help the national team anymore, then it is a very altruist decision. If this is the case, I respect him for this decision.
