When You Go Out To Shop, What Are Those Which You Buy The Most?

Philippines

It is always food items that eat up the biggest, if not all, of our shopping money. During these hard times, I have learned to cut on our expenses to the hilt. Members of our family will buy clothes, shoes and bags only when it is really necessary to do so. This has been going on for about two years now. How about you? Do you still find yourself to be with some extra money for all those stuffs which you fancy buying?

A few years back most of our household budget was prioritized on food. But after my mother got diagnosed with cancer, I told her that we should at least buy something nice for ourselves and not just food. So every payday we would either get a shirt each or shoes. I told her that it was high time to splurge because we could afford it.

What type of cancer is it? At this time, do you already know that the use of ice can help her greatly? My youngest son has bone marrow cancer. I noticed that he loves to eat ice. Normal persons do not do that?! So I had a heart to heart talk with him. Ice is good for them, now I understand. This is because the cause of cancer is too much heat in the body which causes the faster than normal breaking of cells. So once my son complains of pains in whatever part of his body, i will place there first face or hand towel immersed in ice water. Then follows the ice cube a little later. This has eased his pain greatly. Cold fruit juices for him are doing excellently, too. The doctors told me honestly that babies born with such a disease do not go beyond 7 years old. They leave this world early. However, he survives to this day at 23 years old. Never serve her pork, shrimps, crabs...those food which were forbidden in the bible in the old testament, all of those food items. Never let her partake of food with blood of any animal as an ingredient thereof. You may contact me or message me if there is anything that you feel i can be of help.

as to our expenses, i do spend most of the money for food. my daughter is already working but not obliged to spend for the house needs. i have a principle that i will not impose anything on my children but have them give out of their own accord.

You are able to cover the food expenses in the house because, you are still earning enough money to take care of everything. I am happy for you on this regard. Our children though, will buy us some items for the house even if they are not in any way obliged at all.

daughter volunteered to take care of the rice supply. at times, we are invited to eat out with her as in charge. there are times, too, that she will suddenly tell us that we to the grocery learning later that she earned from another project. she had gotten ill, and we were not bothered about her medicine and doctor's fee. she had brought her own PC and copier/printer/fax machine all in one for a business venture. what she is contributing might not be that much but i am seeing that there's a purpose and i am happy about it.

That is an excellent way of cutting on expenses while procuring everything that you need to have. I also always make it a point to be on the lookout for items on promo.

I only buy the things that I love in the middle and at the end of the year because that it the time that we receive our bonuses as a government employee. We are really trying to stretch out our budget.

It appears these days that government employees are even luckier than the other regular employees. Those bonuses are ensured to reach your hands whereas, those who are working in the private firms, will be lucky if they will ever have their bonuses.

Well, I try to save as much money as possible. My parents tend to eat quite healthy food and healthy food is quite expensive. We want to be healthy so we're willing to let g of the money for food. So if you eat healthy now, you won't have to spend money on medications in the future when you do get a possible disease from eating junk and unhealthy food. Sometimes when I go out with friends, I do have some extra money which I bring along to buy food along the way and buy a few clothes that I like. I also go to the movies and stuff, so I spend some money on entertainment but I don't go overboard. I wouldn't spend more than $20-$30 on entertainment. For other things like clothing, I might just spend round $20, as cheapest as possible anyway.

Shopping is fun to have even if the budget is so limited. This is the reason why people love to go window shopping if the money at hand cannot buy them the items that they long for.

I find that I spend too much on food and drink but I have myself, my kids and my dogs to feed. I buy loads of soya drink because we are a vegan family. I purchase a lot of salad items like cucumber, lettuce, spring onions and cress. I buy sea salted popcorn. I buy drinks like fruit juice and water. I don't often buy new clothes. I have cut back on buying magazines and newspapers. Due to the recession I am trying to spend less money.

Hello, maximax, it is so good to see you. It has been a long, long time since I last saw you. I am sorry to take note that the recession has also stressed your budget. But, neither do I buy magazines and newspapers anymore. I used to love flipping through the reader's digest, time and asia magazines and the daily newspapers. Now, I jsut cannot buy them anymore. I rely on other sources for the news. I bought a radio about 4 months ago. I have not much time for tv anymore.

I think we have the same concentration in so far as groceries are concern. We have to consider that food is one of the basic need and naturally we need to buy them for survival. Well there are times that I do buy other things that are not really a need but more of a want. But often, I save money for it and when I have the right amount of savings I go and buy it. I do save but there I also have this principle that I work hard to achieve for something that I want, and obviously, I reward myself by buying things that satisfy my want.

That is a normal thing that humans do, jpso. Most of us always take some effort to save some cash for something that we would like to buy but, it is never a priority at all. As for food, it is something that we cannot do without. About five times in a day, we need to eat no matter how little. And, the food will have to be satisfying in terms of taste and for the hunger, too.

Ha ha, when I saw the word *shop* I decided I'd better respond to this one. I LOVE SHOPPING - not grocery shopping, as I can live off the bare minimums as far as food goes...But shoes, blouses, jeans, jackets, OH MY! I love shopping for clothes and better yet I love finding good deals on them! I have far too many clothes. But shopping is a hobby for me.

Yes, I understand your point of view. You are very much alike with my daughter. Shopping just simply becomes an exciting thing to do when she is around. Otherwise, it becomes a task for me to be going through. So at most times, I only do shopping for clothes and shoes when she is paying me visits.

Just like you I have learn to spend only for something that we really need. I do not want to be in debt just because I live beyond my means. I do learn to control my daughter's appetite for junk foods because they cost much when purchase several times during the whole day. She is growing and I understand how fast her metabolism is. I do save money that will go to something that I know will help me with my online work. I am saving for a laptop.

yes, the good thing about this tight budget situation is, we have learned to buy only the important food items, too. Junk foods used to take a good amount of our food budget when in fact, it is bad for our body. They really taste good, though. Good luck on having enough savings so you can have that laptop pretty soon.

We are on the same plane for most points, starrose. I have cut on lots of expenses and I never use the credit card anymore. I only spend what I have on hand. No more junk foods for some months now. They are expensive and comes without health value. I have cut on those bottled beverages. I make my own natural fruit juices. And, we are trying to save some money for a laptop, too. But, unlike you, I believe I can never raise enough money for the laptop. So my daughter says she is making it her project to bring home when she finally comes over to pay the family a visit. Good luck.

Same for me, I buy food most of the time because that's what's really needed to stay alive. I like to buy fruit and vegetable at the market and buy very little meat because I don't like it very much. When I buy non-food, it's mostly books that I buy, often second-hand.

Books are very expensive these days. This is the reason why I always take some time to peek at the second hand bookstore myself.

Yes, I agree with you. No one can survive life without food and shelter. As for clothing, during these hard times, we have to be happy with the old ones which are still usable. Otherwise, clothing are must buys, too.

I always get the priorities such as food, medicines and cleaning stuff. I also pay bills on the day I have money. So that everything is settled and whatever is left is savings and other stuff I want to buy. Nowadays, the prices of commodities has skyrocketed but our income didn't change that much. So we have to be very careful with our expenditures.

It is true, romscabs, that prices have skyrocketed but our incomes do not. So most of us are forced to scrap from the shopping list some items which actually are important, too.
