The French are epicureans. French cuisine is famous all over the world and you will find French restaurants in most countries and cities. 1. What food do you associate with the French? 2. What makes French food so popular? 3. Are there French restaurants where you live?

Croissants, baguette, cheese and jams of french origin, cordon bleu, coffee, quiche....i can't think of anything anymore. It has been such a long time that I dined in a French Restaurant. You seldom find it here in Oman where I am resident at present. But in my country in the Philippines, there is a lot, you can even find French cafe's and bakeshops. I believe that French dining is popular aside from being tasty, the art that is integrated in French dining is of an experience.

I think there are many things I take for granted that are French in origin. I can get some of those in shops. I had forgotten that I like French onion soup. We Americans just adopt everything that we like, and sometimes forget where it comes from.

I agree with hexebella about the list. But I would like to add my favorite dessert: crepes Susette. Those folded crepes, with oranje juice and kirtsh and brought to the table for the final wonder of flams in the darkness are incredible.

Dear friend, As I am from South India, it is very much difficult to get a French food. But one I had chance to have french coffee, may it is Café au lait. They had given it in a bowl. It tastes good. May be if got chance I would taste some French tasty food. Moreover it is very difficult to get a French cook here. No there is not even a single French restaurants here may be people do have other things to taste more....

Here in South India, we have Sadya a meal that contains rice, various curries, Payasam (a sweet soup) and other various ingredients containing spices. Others are varieties of dosas, appam, puttu, iddilli, so on goes. Actually I like my own typical south Indian food. Thali is mostly in Northern part of India that is some what similar to Sadya here in southern part of India.

Sorry there are very few French restaurants in South India, but not in the place I live in. May be it is bit far more than 200 km.

I am sorry to hear that there is no French cooking in South India. But you live in the best part of the world for thali and dosa.

There are no French restaurants where I live, and I cannot say that I know what would be a French dish. I do know that they use lots of cream and butter, so I would enjoy it. I guess escargot stick in my mind because I would not eat that. I think foods that taste good and are well presented are the ones that become popular. I will have to see what others have said here. I also know that the French make wonderful breads and I would enjoy that a lot.

1. Croissants, onion soup, snails and frog's legs and small birds eaten whole. 2. Reputation, often the reality is very different, in my opinion 3. Yes, many all the best urban
