Winter is almost here...What season do you like?

This morning I put on my winter bomber jacket, its black and short, but filled feathers and nice lining. I walk the kids 4 blocks to school and man oh man it was cold this morning. -2°C degress isn't killer cold but it sure makes walking cold and it's not even winter yet. Where I live the tempature can drop down to -35°C degrees easily and then go even further down, slap a wind chill into that and I want to hibernate. Do you have cold snowy winters where you are? How do feel about the cold season? Is there anything you do to stay warm and active? The kids love to tabogan down a snowy hill , build snowmen and make forts! It is a lot of fun for the kids but personally I can do without the cold and the snow. I on the other hand am a Summer Girl, I like the heat, the sunshine and the garden.

Sounds like you're up in Manitoba by the sounds of it. Way too cold for me in the winter and I'm in Southern Ontario. I hate winter, especially since I have to work outside when it snows. I've been doing that for 4 years, and I don't want to be doing any more of it. I love summer, means more work for me, and a natural way to work on my tan. But I don't like it when it rains, as it means I can't work. Spring and fall mean an in between time with work, not much to do, so I have to keep myself busy somehow. Not looking forward to winter, that's for sure.

Western Canada! Just above Manitoba lol so you better believe it when I say cold! Each year as I get older I like winter less. hmm maybe there is a factor in it , age and cold? LOL I will send warm thoughts to you, mittens and scarves and warm coats!

I like autumn best. Not too hot and not too cold, plus I like the colours of the leaves, grass etc. during autumn and that slightly smoky smell in the air. I also love the darker evenings when I can draw the curtains and curl up all cosy in front of the computer. Wow that's cold, -35C! It never gets that cold where I live. In winter it can hover around freezing point and sometimes go below, but never as cold as where you are. I can't imagine what temperatures that low must feel like.

I still smoke (shame on me, but I can't quit) but am able to do at home indoors as I live alone and am self-employed, working from home, so my smoke doesn't bother anybody else. When I did work though (in an office in London) I used to go out in all weathers just to have one as we weren't allowed to smoke in the office. Everyone thought I was mad as I'd go out in the snow, freezing cold winds etc. just to have my fix, but not sure how I'd have coped if we had temperatures as cold as yours. Your coldest temperatures really are unimaginable to me. I think the coldest temperature I ever experienced here in the south-east corner of the UK was back in about 1970-ish when it dropped to a few degrees below freezing yet I think the windchill factor was quite a bit lower, as there was this icy north east gale blowing down across the North Sea from Scandinavia. Probably would have felt like a heatwave though compared to -57C.

Winter is my favorite season. As each season arrives, I think that's my favorite, except for summer. I don't like the heat at all. If we could go straight from late spring to early fall, I'd be happy, but I love a good snowfall and I like to walk when it's cold outside. I bundle up and go. I even like shoveling snow and I love a good blizzard as long as I know everyone is safe at home. Or maybe I'm just reacting to an overly long warm spell we've had. I want a reason to wrap up in a blanket and drink hot chocolate!

In my country , israel , the winter is not so cold , maybe 10°C and rarely 0. The rain amounts drop down every year and the temperature gets higher every year because of the global warming. So , I can handle the winter nice if no too much rain. Sometimes I go for a walk with my dog in the rain , I don't care. The best part is cudling with my cute dog under the blanket , he likes it because of his short fur. One thing I don't like is to get wet when I'm not prepared to it.

I know what you mean aobut getting wet when you least expect it. Here sometimes it will be beautiful in the morning and then rain in the afternooon. last year with my daughter we got caught in a rainstorm, it was nice in the morning but it came down like crazy in the afternoon, I was forced to buy a new umbrella because I didn't want my daughter soaked to the bone !

That is cold can't even imagine how cold that mus be, here we have mild winters rarely going below -3ºC it is grey and dull with rain mostly. Well that would be if it was a normal winter. This year though the weather is weird, it is basically summer in October, today the temperature is 32ºC it has been like that for the past few weeks, summer was actually colder than it is now. So there has not been an autumn and no rain so everything is very dry and dusty. They say maybe next week it may rain, I know that after a few months of it raining every day I will dread the rain, but right now I hope it does rain soon. I am a middle season person, I like spring and autumn, not too hot with the exception of hay fever they are the best seasons as they are a mix of both warm days but not overly hot and cool morning that have that little nip in the air - granted here it means the 10's which compared to yours seems like warm weather probably. I don't mind summer here but it gets to 42ºC with 80% humidity and at sea level the air becomes so thick it becomes difficult to breath - at least for me - some people love it though.

Autumn finally arrived, there is that little nip in the air and it looks like rain for tomorrow, well it is mid October. But you are right the weather is changing. I was complaining about the weather to a friend of mine and she was telling me how 2 years ago it snowed in mid summer near where she lived. Who know what is going on with the weather. Well might as well make the most of the warm weather, it will run out shortly. PS Thank you for the best response.

where I live the temparture can go from-40°C to +40°C it's hard to get use to the extreme highs and lows. This spring early summer is was so wet that my garden took forever to bloom and grow properly and now it's stll quite warm for Octber, the weather is changing!

I do like most seasons. The only season that I don't like is winter. I'm just really not a fan of the cold or anything like that. I do find that snow falling and such is really beautiful, but otherwise winter isn't really a season that I'm a fan of.

I like the first two weeks of winter, the snow slowly falling, the crisp cleaness of the air, the white blanket of snow, hot chocolate in hand looking out the window and seeing the fluffy snowflakes lazily falling to the ground... then about two weeks later I am thinking melt dang it melt and give hot sunshine!

I love this time of the year, I don't have to have heat nor do I have to have air conditioning. The leaves are turning colors on the trees. It is nice weather to work in the yard. I don't have to have my lawn done often. I don't care for cold weather at all. When the weather gets cold all I want to do is stay in the house where it is warm and cozy. This is my time of year here in the southern U.S.A.

I know, I have to empty the clay pots on the steps, yank out all the annuals, fertilize the grass and basically empty the flower beds. I have a number of plants that need to be cut down so they can come back up next year.Sigh so much work for such a beautiful garden to enjoy. I do stay in as much as I can in winter, I sew and do indoorsy things. Paint, do crafts etc.

I like autumn so I'm enjoying every bit of it right now where i live....not too hot, not to cold...perfect weather for me. I don't like winter weather. It's just a lazy weather for me when most people prefer to stay indoors. The only thing i like about winter is the yuletide season. I just can't imagine christmas time in the summer. I'm sure Mr. Snowman will agree. lol

I haven't heard the word Yuletide in years, you or your family must have some kind Scandinavian heritage! I like autumn too because of the colors but once the leaves start to fall I know winter is coming. I too feel winter should be an indoor activity!

I usually like the fall, but then our fall seems like winter now. It gets as cold at 30 below zero Fahrenheit for days on end. The winters here are very brutal. It seems that for several years now that Winter stretches out longer then any other season here.

Yeah as we tend to get older I suppose we can be colder then the usual. I for one am anemic and am always freezing. Our stingy landlord has yet to turn on the heat. So I have been so cold in the apartment for days on end.

HWG you know I think you are right about winter stretching but I for myself think it has something to do with my age as it just seems colder and longer and longer!

we have what we call schnooks which is a warm wind that comes off the mountains and gives us milder tempatures but those a few and far between and normally comes in the for a a strong wind which I don't like. I grew up in Denmark and I liked the winter there, bit damp, bit of rain but no -35°C degrees. If its mild I can handle it, its the icey cold that I don't like!
