I remember when my grandmother is in the hospital because of the diabetes, the nurse only give her fruits like apple, and in the vegetable are not cooked carrots, they serve it in crushed. That is then only fruit and vegetable that i remember. I forgot the others. We never allow grandma to eat rice and other food. Only the fruits and vegetable that doctor allow her to eat,it very effective. It help to lower her sugar level.

What I know is fruits are safe for diabetics except those which have very high sugar levels like mangoes and bananas. However, they can still consume these fruits in moderate amounts.Diabetics can have a slice of mango and 1 medium banana in a day.It also depends on their blood sugar levels. If it's uncontrolled; more than 180mg/dl,it is better to avoid all kinds of fruits. If the blood sugar is low less than 70 mg/dl,then he may need fruits or any forms of sweet for his sugar to return to normal.

He needs to not eat fruit in excess, but can have just about any fruit. If it tends to make his sugar levels go up he should add a protein food at the same time. For instance if he eats a banana he should eat some peanut butter with it or some nuts. What does his doctor have to say about this?
