Positive thinking is nothing:

you have to take action to get what you want. just dreaming about things isn't going to get anything for you. positive thinking is just one part of the game. action is the other part of the game that you wish to win. there is a huge difference between thinking positively and doing that, which needs to be done positively! i really like the words of J.G.Holland who said, "God give every bird its food, but He does not throw it into its nest." Each one of us has the wings. we can believe and tell ourselves to be positive about flying but ultimately unless we flap the wings and take the effort we can never soar to the heights we dream of. Let me be candid. Without the 2 Ps- persistence and perseverance, the 3rd P of positive Thinking is of no use. When all the 3 Ps work together, you have a winning formula. This is my understanding of life: 'Positive Thinking' minus 'Action' keeps a person happy but he doesn't achieve much. 'Action' minus 'Positive Thinking' may help a person to achieve but he always struggles. He is seldom happy. 'Positive Thinking' Plus 'Action'enables a person to be happily successful and successfully happy. Even miracle are within his reach.

All three are indeed part of a winning formula...I do put a tremendous amount of the emphasis on positive thinking because that will give energy to persistence and perseverance...

A agree with you my friend positive thinking is such big reason why a lot of people survive and succeed. Other guys said that positive thinking is nothing without actions but the motivation to act comes from positive thinking. Positive thinking push as to the limit, positive thinking inspire us, positive thinking do give us positive results with the help of doing the right things.

Absolutely!! If one doesn't think they can do something, they will not be as successful or as motivated to try.

Hi writersolutions, I can see that you have put in significant effort to contrast between differing attributes of human endeavor & I appreciate the effort to weave it into logic. But I have some difficulty in assimilating s=certain basics of this argument. First of all, the two attributes viz., positive thinking & action are not for contrast analysis. In fact, theorizing & acting on could be contrasted as much as brooding & acting on. The reason positive thinking is considered a sound attribute for personality development is due to the fact all actions have to be undertaken with a positive approach. In meeting various issues in life & dealing with them, people must have positive outlook or positive thinking. It denotes the preparedness of mind to perform the action without unduly worrying about possible failures or negative outcomes. Human minds brood on perceived obstacles & travails even before the first step of an action is begun. This induces a negative environment and work is not performed using the full potential of the doer. Positive thinking is advocated when undertaking mammoth tasks which have the potential of unnerving even the strong willed at times. Its about belief in one's or the team's abilities to successfully performing a given task. In fact, what you would have done well to contrast is between procrastination by theorizing and decisive action. No amount of theorizing can equal full effort action and therefore success. A positive mental attitude and Positive Thinking are catalysts for ensuring success of any action. May have differed but I felt compulsive. We may discuss more, to understand our respective points of view. Thanks for triggering.

I'm interested if anyone wants to expand on this. If I want to develop some positive thinking about a particular thing I need to think about it rationally. I want to consider the up side as well as the down side in other words theorize. I would think that the more I do theorize, the more I will develop confident and confirmation that my positive attitude is correct and not just some whim of fancy.

Very good!! We are meant to experience, and take action. We are meant to DO. It has never been about serve it up to us on a plate. Yes, positive thinking makes the trip so much better. Now, when everyone wakes up tomorrow, I don't want anyone hiding under the covers. There is a great big beautiful world out there that needs your actions.

Positive thiking gives you the strength to face the problem initially. To It gives you the energy that you need.It doesnt give you the success by itself but it definitely hlps you.independently of success, if all problems been manipulated with possitive thinking let you feel the ppropriate strength that probably you dont have in other occasions....Even if you dont know a thing, the thought of ''I GET IT" gives you plus !!

Yes, If we think positive we can do good deeds and our outlook becomes positive. Peace, happiness and contentment are eternal gifts. A poor man also may achive success if he has developed positive thinking and contentment in life.

Hi writer,I feel that mind controls all our actions, also steers it depending on the input.A person is never inactive and when there is positive thinking it also sends a message to his/her brain. This definitely changes the way a person acts..he becomes positive in his actions too since his mind has become positive....Persistence and perseverance are definitely needed to achieve anything in life - all the best and happy mylotting

You are right that one cannot achieve anything without action. One has to make a step forward to do something. Being positive also helps because it motivates you. Positive feeling plus action is the best way to achieve something. It helps you think of the good thing because it also helps you to act on something you have been dreading to do. If one just think of the negative things, it will make the person less likely to make a go of something.

Well, of course you have to act on it. Thinking positively won't do anything if you just think it. You should also do it. Although, from what I understand, actions go hand in hand with what your mind is thinking. If you're always thinking good things, you'll always act on good things and vice versa. That's why criminals are like that. They have had bad experiences when they were a kid, which caused them to think negatively while growing up. Therefore, they're capable of doing bad things.

Positive thinking sets the pace and it is only when one thinks positive that right actions would follow. It goes without saying that action is a prerequisite for anyone to be a success in this world but a negative action will spell disaster!

Is positive thinking and action like apples and oranges or more like fruit and the shovel. I agree we have to act to accomplish. Without action we will not see our tree produce maybe not even see a tree. Yet, I think we can be happy with positive thinking and not act if that is our choice. So I go with the last comparison.

I agree with you that without action there is no value to positive thinking. But on the other hand I won't agree with you that positive thinking is nothing. positive thinking is "SEED" and without that there is no tree "ACTION" and there is no fruit "SUCCESS". So first we need to have positive thinking and then the action will come then eventually success.

I beg to disagree positive thinking is a big thing, from your own words "Positive Thinking' may help a person to achieve". So it is not "nothing". Yes Positive thinking is not enough to make a person succeed but it can help. It it a driving force for someone who wants to succeed especially those who really are struggling it can help boost their confidence to believe that they can do something that will help them succeed.
