I want to share the recent incident that my cousin told me about her credit card company. Her credit card company hired this third - party company to sell customers credit protection plan. This third party company called up my cousin, and ask her to verify her name and address that she really belongs to this credit card. My cousin on the phone question this person, she won't need to sign up anything that cost her, and the person told her that she just need to send her this brochure about how great the protection plan, and she doesn't need to sign up anything if she choose not too. On the next credit bill comes, my cousin was charged with this credit protection plan fee already. So she called the credit card company, and the representative told her that if she verify her name and address, she is automatically signed up for this protection plan. What a dirty trick. Now, she wants to cancel this plan through the phone, and they told her that might take up to 1 to 2 months to process it. What in the world, it only take 10 seconds to automatically sign my cousin up for this bullsh*t plan, but takes 2 months to get it cancelled?

I think the credit card protection is needed when you own a credit card. The purpose of that is it acts like an insurance for a cardholder. In case the card holder cannot pay in the future, the insurance will pay the credit company. That's what I have learned about that stuff. When I had a credit card before, I signed up for credit card protection. At least when time comes that you can no longer pay your credit, the insurance company will pay your bills!

You are wrong man. The only they protect is the credit card who sell you those protection plan. Once you sign up for it and pay for it monthly, you don't get much protection from it. When you really get into mess, they would definitely deny this and that. You better watch out, and don't be a fool of it.

Wonder if this is the same company that did this to me? I know it took months to get some of the stuff taken off of my card, and still waiting to see if I get credited back for something else as well. These companies are quite sneaky and they continue to charge rediculous fees, etc. now as well. It makes you wonder why the government bailed out all these banks, and now just allows them to continue to pull more dirty tricks like this?

So, it is not enough that credit cards rob us blind with an almost 30% interest rate, they now resort to this kind of gimmickry?!
When I am on the phone with my credit card company, they always ask me about their own protection plan. I always say NO. They seem to think that maybe in one of the calls, I would slip up and say yes. No way!
