I am at that age when the hot flashes begin first I went through being hot, cold, hot, cold, now I am overheated almost all the time. HOwever, one thing I have been noticing is whenever I eat hot food, like soup or anything hot, I get overheated. Is this normal? ladies what are your experiences with hot flashes?

I think that is normal, I find that myself. I had night sweats and would wake up all wet as if I had been sweating all night. I found a natural hormone pill in the co-op and used it. It really helped the hot and cold and the night sweats. There are many on the market and I would advise you to try one.

She will probably suggest Premarin and it is not natural.

I don't drink coffee or hot tea in the summer because I tend to get overheated easily. I do think that when I was having more hot flashes I did seem to have them after eating or drinking hot things. But, actually, my worst hot flashes came if I ate late in the evening during the summer. I would wake up in the middle of the night with a hot flash. For several years I wouldn't eat after 6 in the evening so the hot flashes wouldn't wake me up at night. So, don't you know, it was hot enough tonight the heat, and maybe a hot flash, woke me up!

What's your age please? I am asking this because if you are a female you must know that before menopause, hot flashes are very common.

I know hot flashes are common, my question is about eating hot food and getting hot, that is not covered in the literature on the net.

It's normal. Hot foods like hot peppers contain capsasin and that increases your metabolism which stimulates you to make more heat in your body.

that is good but I didn't mean hot peppers, I meant just that the plate of food is hot not cold.

I'm only 29, so way too young to be experiencing hot flashes, but personally if I were going through them, I think I'd carry a frozen bottle of water with me at all times. a) Put the ice bottle on your forehead to cool down b) Drink the water when the ice melts. Just keep plastic bottles in the freezer, filled with water, and take one when you go anywhere.

oh I drink a lot of water, I am mostly curious about the getting hot every time I eat something hot though.
