In a determined effort to bonk that lovely waitress from last night's meal, what was her name, ah, Carla .....

My ideal way of spending the last day would be to visit a nice town near to the airport/port etc.. and explore it, as leisurely as possible in the time that you have. Do anything there that you have time to do, visiting any attractions or going shopping or just wandering around. For me this has to include stopping for a nice, leisurely tasty meal!

Yes, sure! They are top of my list too. My ideal day on holiday involves sitting (preferably outside in the sunshine) in a restaurant enjoying a lovely, local meal.

Well I usually spend them packing and making sure I have not left anything behind. I hate stressing at the last minute so I make sure everything is ok and then since I have to be out of the room by 10am on the day I am leaving I load all my stuff onto the transport if I have one or take it with me while I have a last coffee.
I have always hated the having to get out of your room so early on the day you leave. That means that you either have to go to the airport to lodge your bags and get stuck spending an entire day there, or you have to lug all those suitcases around with you all day until your flight leaves.
The last day is the hardest of all because your time is ruined just by having to get out of your room early. Of course if you are rich you could afford to pay for an extra day just to keep your bags there but I hate wasting money.

Hello Pikey
Really good topic (love it).
Well for me and my girlfriend (considering the summer side vacations) we generally finish cleaning the room get our luggage out (and place them at the reception) then go to the beach for our last bath for at least another year, then change, go to our favourite restaurant (we actually have one in Olympic, because that is where we go by bus) and say goodbye to our Greek friend there, and visit the duty free (where available).

It all depends on where I am vacationing. If I am at the beach, i would sit on the beacj and watch the ocean waves come in and go out.

I would get up early on my last day, take some more photos and go souvenir shopping in the morning. I would have packed the previous evening. I would take a walk on the beach, sit down on a rock and take in the fresh sea air if that kind of location. I would have a meal at 4pm. I would be ready for the taxi to take me, my 4 year old disabled son and 2 year old daughter to the airport.

To be honest, if I had a plane flight, I expect I would be stuck at the airport trying to get through security. I still remember one time before we had all this security when I was almost late for my flight because I had to remove my belt to go through the metal detector. The security person seemed to refuse to believe that I set the detector off by wearing safety shoes.

Since the airport would not be near anything exciting I would enter one of the lounges there. I would have a nice meal and a few drinks and boy will the time fly on by that I would not even notice that I had time to kill.

That was really confusing sometimes. Usually so many ideas came up but the best idea should be also safe. I have experienced too creative idea which ended up with missing those last transportation.

Hmm a real good question! I would take my camera and a friend and go make the most of my few hours. Take pictures and have fun.
