I know the benefits of mini laptop is charging hour is more I have no experience but I heard this. One loss is its screen is small but charging hour is more and everything is same like big laptop only CD drive is not there. Its good for carrying anywhere. Standard laptop charging capacity is only 2 to 3 hours but on mini laptop we can do work after charging at least 4 to 5 hours. What you think mini laptop is better than big laptop or mini laptop is not good eyes problem may create

Of course there are advantages and disadvantage using mini laptop. It has smaller screen, no disk drive, sometimes the storage is not that big. On the contrary, it is easier to carry anywhere when you're on-the-go person. Practicality wise, I will still choose big laptops because it already has disk drive, big screen, of course for carrying convenience there are already lightweight ones in the market, plus a bigger space for data storage, and when we talk of the price you will just add small amount of money to the price of the small ones, so why settle for small ones when its better to get a big laptop for sometimes has same price and quality and efficiency of the smaller ones.

Dear Fanta, Yes both have its own advantages and disadvantages, but for viewing I feeling the big laptop is better, and while traveling may be mini one is better. But it all depends upon the comfortability of the user. I do prefer big laptop if I do have much to travel, its screen is so wide and also the words can be read well.

I'm much like you, Shamrack. I have a netbook to travel, but a regular notebook for everyday use. I also like having the wide screen. But sometimes a regular notebook is just so heavy to carry around when traveling! Fantabulus - there are a lot of affordable laptops these days! Even $200 ones that are pretty dependable :) But of course, don't buy it unless you need it.

I have a laptop and a net-book and I almost never use my net-book (mini-laptop). For several reasons as I find it much more comfortable to use the laptop. The net-books can be convenient but I don't like that the keys are so small and the screen as well. I often like to have my CD drive with music running as well and I can't do that on the net-book. I would have to say that for me the net-book ( mini laptop ) is much more harsh for my eyes and also that I have to scroll a great deal to see the entire page.

it still depends on your lifestyle and the applications that you use. mini laptops or netbooks are ideal for on the go people who are always outdoors. Its size makes it more portable than big laptops or notebooks. on the other hand, big laptops or notebooks are ideal for applications requiring high capacity laptops. Its much more recommended for working/ professional people who would need more reliable working equipment. I hope this helps.. :)

Yes, I also use my big ACER laptop in doing my work. It has the capacity and memory to handle large volumes of work. I often use multiple applications simultaneously and I don't think my Toshiba netbook can handle it. I only use my netbook at home when I only do is surf thee internet or play online games. :)

Netbooks or mini laptop, haven't big performance like a normal laptop. A netbook is more light than a big laptop.

Hi fanta! I understand that mini laptop which are you talking about is called a 'Note-Book'. It functions like a laptop but it does not all the facilities like a laptop. I have not used a Note Book so far, so it will be difficult for to tell whether it is better than a standard laptop.

I've honestly thought about getting a mini laptop, but I have heard others say they aren't too good. After reading other responses on here, I think I may once again start looking at getting one.

A mini laptop is always handy one , when you travel frequently . Considering the backup , it is the best for a traveler. I am planning to buy one , than buying a Tablet, which is very very costly. Mini will have greater speed and storage space. No worries about DVD drive, as you can carry movie in a USB drive, and copy to the system when you want .

There's one extra big difference between the big laptop, and the little laptop, and that's the power in each of the units. On average, the big laptop will have about 4 times the power of the mini-laptop. At the same time, mini-laptops usually come along with just basic software, stuff that isn't complete, because they want the mini-laptop price to be super cheap, but software is a big cost on the computer. Of course, if you are just going to be doing the basics, watching movies and using programs like word on the laptop, plus you either have the software you want, or can get your hands on it, easily, then the mini-laptop works out perfect. Of course, if you want to be doing things like watching Blu-Ray movies on a fairly big screen, or even just wanting to get loads of movies and TV shows on your laptop, and playing new video games (including facebook games), then you're better off getting a bigger, more powerful laptop. It all comes down to what you really need!

It depends on how much you use one and what you use it for. I personally do not like mini laptop (netbook). I have to scroll down a lot. Mini laptop or netbook is good if you want to check e-mail and do some research. If you want to watch movies, edit videos, or do any multimedia activity, you would need bigger monitor whether it's a laptop/notebook or a desktop. Netbook usually doesn't have big capacity or RAM to play HD movies. It can still play, but you won't have a quality or a good time watching an HD video. As far as charging capacity, I know that netbook can charge pretty fast.

I have two laptops, the mini laptop and the standard laptop. For me, I like the standard one better. I feel like the mini laptop life will not last that long. My two laptops have the same brand but the mini one is already broken but the standard one is still good as new.

It actually depends on what you will use it for. If you want to carry it most of the time without really wanting the hassle of carrying something heavy and all you want to do is do some thing that does not really need a big screen display, say just reading emails, composing documents or perhaps for business necessities, then get the convenient netbooks. If you rather need it for something technical, like you need to use programs like photoshop to edit some images, watch videos or movies to be entertained with a big screen and better sound quality, or even play computer games. You definitely need a big screen for such things so you should get a notebook. Be it netbooks or notebooks, different manufacturers or companies have already released a lot of models for different uses for different kinds of people. For power supply, both notebook or netbook users can just find an outlet to plug-in their adaptors if they want to use it for long periods of time. Each one has an advantage and a disadvantage, we just need to decide on those advantages that we want to utilize before deciding on what we really need. But if you have a lot of funds, why not have both? ('_^ )

I have experience using both types of laptop and I think it still depends on your preference or what you use it for mainly. For one thing, I am teaching at a University which requires me to use my laptop for presentations in class. I have a netbook (mini laptop) and it is handy for these events, but as you said so yourself, it just takes a toll on me on the battery life. Which means, every time I go out and use it, I have to carry all the other cables and adaptor for it. One suggestions though is to buy an extra battery, however, I find it expensive and impractical to do so because the life of this mini laptop isn't that long (depends on the usage though) and what am I to do with the spare battery should I decide to trash the mini laptop? Thankfully, our university has bought those types of projectors that don't requires laptops anymore, we could use any regular USB stick and it works wonders - though effects could not be used (who still uses those anyways?!). On the other hand, I am now using a big laptop and it could be likened to a pc except the keyboard is different - but don't fret, you could attach any other keyboard if you'd like it. The downside is that I could never carry this one around. I mean, outside the house. It required another bag - for a lady like me, I already have too many things to carry! However, the battery is really efficient and there's no eye-strain at all. But of course, this one is much much more expensive compared to the mini laptop. So, I guess if I had to choose, I'd go for whatever will fit my budget, and of course the reason why I need one (do you really need one?) If it's just for Facebook, well a mini laptop would do. However, if purchasing a laptop would benefit you in terms of monetary gain, then I'd say invest in yourself! Have a great MyLot experience ahead!!!

I have a netbook (mini-laptop) I personally like it for traveling because of the convenience and size, but personally I prefer the regular laptop. The laptop I have has a battery life span of 5 to 6 hours which is actually really good. The mini-laptop I can't stand looking at the screen for a long period since it tends to give me a migrane when I am on it for a long period. I guess probably because the letters are to small as well as the screen it just gives me a bad headache, so that is why I prefer my regular size laptop.

I understand what you meant is netbook or maybe laptop with small screen.. I have seen this model and the advantage will be really handy to carry them everywhere..However, if netbook sometimes they have disadvantage to run heavy application such as graphical or programming application or even game..It depends on what you need, if you only need it for access internet and working with simple office application , then netbook is suitable.. I like to have small screen laptop since it's really handy and I can work from anywhere..
