I hate ebay users. I’m sorry to stereotype, but that’s actually the way I feel. I can’t stand them! it’s like the more stars they get, and more good feedback they get, the nastier and more horrible they actually become!! Yesterday I was browsing on ebay.. just trying to find a few little bargains here and there, as you do, and I stumbled across a ebay shop selling bows. Hair bows.. on hairbands. I love hairbows on hairbands so I decided to maybe buy a few.. And I actually found two that I already had, from a shop called Primark which is very inexpensive! But the ebay seller had them listed as being from H&M and Dorothy Perkins, two more expensive stores! So I gave the ebay user the benefit of the doubt, and assumed that because they had no tags, maybe they just “made-up” where they got them from. So I emailed them, and I said; “Hi, Just to let you know, this bow you have, and the other one [item number _________] are actually both from Primark, not from Dorothy Perkins and H&M.. just to let you know, because I would hate for anymore to report you, or give you negative feedback for having misleading information about your items! Just holding out a helping hand :) “ And do you know what I got back? “Go crawl under whatever rock you came from and stop bothering people!” LIKE WHAT THE F$*&!!!! Seriously? What do you think of this?

Wow that is such a harsh reply - I am guessing then they knew they were not Primark items and decided to list them as the other stores anyway! I hate that because I use Ebay a lot and in the past have sold stuff and I make sure all my details are correct so it drives me mad when others make good ebay sellers look bad!

If I sold, I would make sure not to misrepresent an item either, as sellers really ought to be truthful with their products. I always ask questions, such as if an item is listed as 'preowned'. I don't mind preowned items but I have to make sure if it's something I'm going to use a lot that it hasn't been used much. Certain things like shoes, especially performance/athletic shoes have a certain shelf life, and if they are more than barely used, they aren't worth buying second hand, unless they are really really cheap and I'm using them for one event only. I also appreciate good photos of items, or extra photos because it shows that the seller is really interested in attracting multiple buyers or bidders with details and information.

i totes agree frankie.. when i sell things i make sure they have ever single detail i can possible give them such as; when it was purchased. approx how many times it has been worn. any fraying or marks. size it states and what size i am [because there is slight allowance in some clothes for the size bigger] what it goes with - sich as a top i sold i wrote what i had worn it with in the past etc] stuff like that.. and i always always have a picture, and try to have a picture of it on if possible also!

Well....I'm not sure I really appreciate your stereotype of ebay users, it looks more like a rant against ebay SELLERS. I am an ebay user but I buy, I don't sell lol. I do have to say I don't think I agree with the policies of some sellers who ask and beg and plead with buyers to NEVER give them 4 stars, as that means not perfect feedback. I have never experienced a transaction with a seller who deserved less than 5 stars though. I purchase mainly reorders from sellers I have a history with, or new items from people who offer what I want at the lowest price + free shipping and have a good feedback score and longterm relationship as a seller on ebay. H&M is actually pretty inexpensive, at least locally. I have no idea if things people sell from there online cost more or not but I've only looked at womens' and kids' clothing. I'm still a bit confused as to why you felt you should 'inform' the seller that you thought what they were selling was misrepresented, I'm sure they responded the way they did because they felt like you were threatening to report them. That's how it looks to me anyway. What purpose does that serve? Did you want to make them angry? If I'm not buying it, I don't really care.

ps] i was going to buy 3 other items from their online store.. which is why i was looking, noticed and emailed in the first place, because my original enquiry had been about combined postage, this was merely me being nice afterward.

Like mommyboo said, I am just a buyer, not a seller, but I think what you did was right, because now they have the warning, maybe they will change the description. If not, and someone complains, well, they only have themselves to blame.

if you read my explaination to mommyboo you will see the actual entireity of the story! i probably should have put it all in my discussion but i hate my discussions being too lengthy and then boring for the readers lol!

Why don't you try Amazon? I have book addiction and I look for cheaper book. And I haven't any problems with them. They take care about their reputation and if someone is nasty for you they will make sure that will never happen again. They have a lots of good stuff there and cheap. The quality is very good. I told you before try them. No nerves just comfort of buying!

i like vintagte things which is why i sometimes look through ebay, and if i see something nice in a shop i like to go on ebay because sometimes people buy things, get them home, remove the tags, and then realise they don't really like it lol so i tend to get it half price lol! oh i love books too!! i'm an amazon addict also when it comes to books. i can recommend a good book to you. adam nevil - apartment 16. not for the faint hearted mind you lol!

sounds very rude. i think maybe you got such a defensive reaction because they were not telling the truth about the origins of the hairbands, and you had caught them out. but at least you know not to buy from them. i don't use ebay, i tend to buy from amazon, as i find the relationship between buyer and seller more straight forward, which i prefer.

yes another user if you read up, said the same thing about amazon. i just don't think you can always find what you are looking for at amazon, and i like the fact you can get second hand vintage clothes on ebay though thats the only thing, and the postage is generally cheaper.. well atleast it used to be. people try to mark up their profit by upping the postage fee to higher than what it actually will cost to post it!

yes, amazon doesn't have such interesting things. though have you tried oxfam's online shop, they have loads of secondhand clothes on their website, but if you don't mind spending the time going through them they might have something worth buying in the way of vintage clothes. and they are a good cause so it doesn't feel like such a rip off.

As a casual eBay seller, I always try to make sure that my buyers get their item and that I ship as soon as possible. I have never had one negative feedback and all my buyers have been happy.

Some people can be so rude these days! I use Ebay too to buy some cheap branded stuff there. I usually just buy the small things and I buy them from high rated wholesalers. But there are some Ebay sellers who are simply liars! Once you buy it and it arrives back at your door, there's not much you can do as the person who sold it to you lives like hundreds of kilometers away from you. I did buy a pair of really nice high top converse shoes, when I bidded for it and won, I decided to pay it later. When I logged on, the postage suddenly changed! And it increased, so I had to pay more. I didn't worry about it because the seller said that the shoes were in good condition, with no funny business and in the pictures, the shoes looked clean and great. When I got it, I it was heavily stained with ugly brown spots. I was so pissed but I couldn't do much about it, I gave the seller a low rating and she simply replied sweetly, thanks for buying!
