This photo is of my front door exterior light. It must be ancient. It is being replaced soon as well as other remodeling being done. What's the ugliset thing about your house that you want replaced, rebuilt, or remodeled at this time? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I want a Heritage metal roof. That would be where I would start with my house. I am in a room with a really ugly carpet too.

Around here many new homes have them, as well as commercial buildings. You can get them in color and they are hail resistant and fire resistant and guaranteed for fifty years. I have not noticed any near you, though.

I'd love a metal roof too! I have an ugly wood floor, well it was beautiful til we had kids anyways... used to have a rug on the floor but then the kids would trash though to the point I could not clean them. I may have to get another for winter so they avoid the cold floors.

I can't tell, is the glass in front yellow? If so I agree, it is ugly, but if all the glass were clear, I think this light is also nice looking, but maybe because where it comes to replacing things, my whole house needs to be replaced. Even though I have some things that were installed in the last 14 years, it wasn't installed properly and the whole place really is bad, especially on the inside..What really ticks me off though, is I have a good piece of used carpet in the attic a friend gave me that will go into the living room, but my husband calls it "old people" carpet and refuses to use it, so he'd rather look at ugly red carpet that has patches taken out from wear and been through 3 dogs, 4 children and one cat and that is what was here when we moved in, who know what it went through before that..Seriously though, I think it is pure laziness on his part, because ugly or not, I rather have a carpet without holes, then one with.

My wife is like that as far as repairs and or replacement of things. I have to make the final decision and fend off her rebuttals and or arguments. But it was time fir windows, siding and lights The covers are a brownish yellow color and gawd awful looking I felt. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Yeah, that is what I thought, it was yellowed with age, but I hope you are not tossing it, because someone may love to take something like that and replace the glass to make it look good again.

Its so nice to see you back here. What do I need? I need new windows and screens, new and extended gutters. My garage door is broken needs fixing. Guess that would do for now. Doubt most of it will get done anytime in the near future. The old light fixture has some character to it, sure you want to get rid of it?

This weekend was awful for mylotting, I just move to something else usually when it happens. It's getting a little frustrating though this has been going on off and on for several weeks now. LOL, nope have nice light fixtures in and around my house. But it does have character, and would look nice with a little TLC on any house.

What's ugly on my house? My windows and gutters! They are falling appart literally and the beautiful trim of burnt orange is less than appealing let me tell ya! And of course that same trim is on the windows and it's peeling on the gutters and windows. Sometimes I like to day dream I'd make enough off mylot to pay for the windows *LMAO*

My son-in-law put up gutters on the front of my house recently. All the wood trim around my house and garage also need replacing as it is rotting out badly. The windows were costly but they will pay for themselves in time by saving on my gas heat bill. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Well hubby's friend said he'd do the roof and gutters for under 3k but we don't have that at the minute or it to spare just yet. I think the wood trim by the gutters is bout shot too so I'm sure that'll cost more money too unless hubby is inpired to do it himself. Yes I will agree about saving on heating bills. But I need to do this in a certain order... plumbing, roof/gutters, electrical, heating/ac, windows and then siding. That's looking like 5yr or more consecutive of work just on the outside of the house.

The new light is really lovely, GB - but I must say, the old one has loads of character and people here would pay a lot to buy it in one of our antique/old wares stores! You'd be amazed at the things people snap up - and your old lamp would be very desirable! x

Hand Tiller - hate having to use this for garden preparation.
Yeah, I've been gathering old items from the farm to hold onto and sell in the future as well. Here's a picture of an old hand operated tiller from the early to mid 60's. This was at the farm with some other items I kept. I'd hate to have to use that in my garden. Uggh the work it would take. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I am happy for you grandpa bob. I need some lighting in my yard. I have to walk along the side of my house to get to my door as I live in the basement suite of a house and my entrance is in the back of the house and I park my car in the front. Along the side of my house is bushes with a city pathway just on the other side of them. Anyone could be lurking in the bushes. There is no light along the side although I get a little bit of light from the street lights. It is very dark..so dark I can't see my hand in front of my face sometimes. I have asked my landlord to put in some lighting and he still hasn't. I have lived here for 3 1/2 years and it still isn't done. The last time I asked him was about 5 months ago and a contractor came and looked at it and said he had to drill some holes in the house to put in wiring and so he would be back the next day. I called my landlord and he said that was okay, he paid the guy already so not to worry, it will be done. The contractor never came back. I called the landlord and told him and he called the contractor and never got ahold of him and got scammed his money. Now he has to call someone else. Like I said, that was about 5 months ago and I still have no lighting. I will have to call him again. Thanks for posting this discussion...it became a reminder for me. littlemissy signing off for now

I am not sure where you live and what the laws are as far as landlord responsibility goes. But check into it and buy some solar powered lights at least for lighting along the pathway. This could also be deducted from your rent if the laws in your area allow it. Here I could do that at a rental property with proper paperwork to the landlord asking for lighting for safety reasons. Good luck. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

The worst thing about my house is that it's so boring. It's white with green trim. Period. There is nothing to set it apart, nothing memorable about it at all. I want to make a real porch across the front instead of just a front step and do some landscaping since the lawn is just a lawn. You could drive past the house a hundred times and never notice it.

Really the only thing about my house that I really think is ugly right now is the bathroom and the kitchen floors. They are both linoleum and old. The bathroom floor is dark gray with pink, green, and blue specks in it. Just weird. The kitchen floor is some weird octagon pattern that is gray and yellow. I rent my house and since the floors are well not in bad shape, just ugly I don't see them replacing them any time soon.

myLot ate my response!! So briefly, I want to change my interior ceiling lights, they are so ugly. The former owner put them up to modernize the house, as well as painting over what was probably gorgeous wallpaper. I have a similar porch light which I'd like to replace. But I'll wait until the economy improves, these things aren't expensive but I have to pay someone to do the work.

Hi GrandPa Bob, it is good to see you again. As for remodeling. I wish I could redo my whole bathroom. The medicine cabinet is out of date. I only have one electical outlet in their. I would like to redo the vanity. I went to my sister house today and she has this new high rise, new fangle toilet. Man I wish I had one of those. this things has two differnt flush options. One for the urine and the other one for the poop. Now imagine that for flushing.

Grandpa Bob, I kind of liked the exterior light. It looked antique instead of just old. You can send it to me when you replace it. LOL I want to change my bathroom tiles as a couple of them broke. Of course I cannot get the same ones and I´ll have to change the whole floor I´ll see to that depending on result from my chemo. I will NOT spend money on that if tests are bad. I prefer a good vacation.

I remember having a set of the ugly lamps as the one pictured in your discussion. lol I replaced those in my old house with a set of some really nice silver ones. I am in an apartment currently and although a few things new upgrading, our landlord will not do so at the current time. We have taken upon ourselves to redo the bathroom. We did so because we live here and could not stand the site of it. Remodeling although a big project, leaves us with a great feeling after all is done.

I really like the appearance of that lamp. I would like the ceiling fan on my front porch replaced. It doesn't work. When it's breezy out we wouldn't need it but on those hot still days of summer it would be nice.

I need a ceiling fan in my living room. Or at least a ceiling light of some sort as I use lamps and they get annoying at times. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~
