Why should fish be pets?

Fish are not animals that one can easily relate to and connect with. Like how dogs will build a relationship with the owner. How does a fish make a good pet if one cannot relate with it?

I enjoy my catfish, who come right up to the front of the tan to beg. They are relaxing to watch and so pretty. They are in a 30 gallon tank, so lots of room. Many people living in apartments can have fish, but not a cat and dog. Fish are one pet I recommend when somebody lives in an apartment in my area. Pets bring a lot of joy in my friends lives and certainly in mine.

I have seen colorful tropical fish in the ocean around coral reefs on my travels when I have done some snorkeling. They do sell tiny and small tropical fish in my home country. They have to be put in a fish tank with a controlled temperature. I wouldn't want to get a fish tank and get tropical fish for it. They look so pretty and can be lovely to watch. I look forward to the next time that I can go snorkeling. I have two pet dogs. I can stroke them and play games with them. I can take them out for walks. I think a pet dog is ideal for me and my family. Fish can all look the same in many cases so they could be mixed up. I like to name my pets.

I think i feel pity on the fishes if i see them on a small aquarium because it is like a prisoner inside a decorative small jail.... i see fish swims on all 6 corner sides but still can't manage to escape and fish mouths keep on talking messages that i can't understand but i know the way they feel.... if they only put on an aquarium with a size of an olympic arena then it is a good idea but no such thing as that.... then better put it in the Disneyland Giant Aquarium so that food is not a problem at all and they can meet other type of fishes living more beautiful than a true actual ocean....

What do you mean you can't relate to a fish? Just because they might not snuggle up against you, play ball or lick you doesn't mean it's not a pet. Every pet is different, it's like saying a turtle isn't a pet because it doesn't move a lot or do anything. Fish make really good pets, some people prefer dogs or cats whereas others prefer fish. Some fish have a mind of their own, some can be quite playful. My cousins owned a fish before and it kept leaping out of the aquarium. Some people have huge aquariums in their house with all types of fish. Fish are quite beautiful and makes your home look superb! I guess if you like the quiet pets and the less energetic ones, then a fish is best for you! I don't kind fish but I prefer birds much better!

Why do so many people think a pet is only a good pet if you think you get some response from it and you can hug it whenever you like? Fishes make great pets. Especially if you give them space enough in a nice aquarium. It's calming/relaxing to watch them and observe their behaviour. And for those who like to teach animals tricks, fishes respond too if you come and feed them.

Although fish seem boring, they are COOL to have. I have a fish tank with about 8 fish in it now. The fish cant be good or bad pets because all they do is swim but I like having them. The sound of the fish tank, the water and the bubbles has always been relaxing to me. It makes under water life seem so interesting. Of corse there is no relationship to build with them but they are nice to have if you dont have alot of time for pets that require more than feeding. And people seem to always enjoy looking at them when they come over. My kiddos love them the most!

My landlord does not allow pets in our building so I do have an aquarium. Yes it is true that we cannot cuddle and or connect with fish like we would dogs or cats. But I love my fish and have a few now for 7 years. I take very good care of my aquarium, feed the fish properly and when they get sick I make sure I get the proper medications for them. Since I have invested in a nice aquarium and enjoy my fishes I can't imagine not taking good care of them. I enjoy watching them in the tank as I find it to be very therapeutic.

I'm not sure if they're good pets, but some people just really like fish. My friend has a bunch of fish just because she thinks they're cool. Then there are the people (usually kids) who really want a pet, but live somewhere when pets such as dogs and cats aren't allowed. Then there are parents that want to teach their kids how to be responsible by getting them a pet to take care of. You don't have to train or clean up after fish, just make sure they get fed and you clean the tank.
