Cats and their different personalities

Do yours have distinct different personalities? My cats each have a distinct personality. One is a definite snoop and will crawl into anything: box, bag, purse, and once I even found it sleeping with it's head in my shoe! The other one is like Garfield, fat, sassy, nothing bothers it, and it doesn't bother anything either. One cat I used to have was a total daredevil. Every time my s-i-l had the ladder leaning on the roof edge, that cat would crawl up (and then because I was the only person it would come to, I was the one who had to go up the ladder and call it over to bring it back down lol.) So what kind of personality does your cat(s) have? Is it a snoop, a daredevil, an instigator, or maybe a troublemaker?

Hello Joy. I like cats better than dogs. They are so much more independent and interesting to watch play. I have had people tell me they don't have any personality but when one spends time watching and playing with them you do see their personalities. We have two and they are so different. These two don't come to be petted but will show affection in different ways. They are very picky about when they want to be petted. One lays on his back when he thinks he needs brushed. They are persians.

Hi Dee. They're are more interesting to watch when they're playing, I'll have to definitely agree with that. With some cats, you can almost see them thinking & considering about the best way to approach, or do, something...dogs often just jump in (at least my dogs have been that way, as well as my cats.) Persians, gosh, they are such really beautiful cats aren't they?! Besides a beautiful coat, they almost always have those pretty eyes! Clever how your one does his trick when he wants brushed lol. I am not sure what my one cat is, prob a cross-breed or something, but he is orange and has really fine fur like an angora. He constantly needs brushed and can develop bad snarls all over in just one day! I've had people tell me too that cats don't have personalities...obviously they never had cats, or if they did, they just didn't pay attention to their individual personalities!! Good hearing from you, have a wonderful day!

He also has these big orange eyes that he uses to get treats. He comes and pats you on the knee and just turns on this Pitty me look. He has such pretty eyes surrounded with black fur.

I have two cats and yes they are very different! Rosie is a beautiful calm and affectionate cat. She wonders around the house, sleeps most of the time, loves people and totally ignores my pet bird. Hewy, on the other hand is a mischievous naughty little boy who is constantly running around, does not particularly like to be picked but loves being petted and brushed and in regards to the pet bird, they cannot be left unsupervised together or my poor bird will pay the price!

Hi Paula! Rosie and Hewy sound like they're as different as night and day. Rosie sounds like a real sweetie, but I'll bet Hewy keeps it interesting for sure lol. Isn't it funny how one type of cat will ignore a caged bird, and another will find it irresistable?! I used to have this one cat that I swear was super-charged. It was constantly zooming around and never seemed to wear out. It never did anything bad, but it was a constant motion machine haha. Enjoy your kitties! Have a nice morning:-)

Hey Joy, I have 4 cats and each one is different from the other. They are all sweet kitties and gentle too. They don't bite and scratch you, or other people. My male cat comes up to me and nibbles on me to get my attention, specially when he wants his belly rubbed. One of the females thinks she is boss of all of them. Another of the females is just a sweet docile kitty. She was the best momma kitty and loved being a mom. The other female is a brat, she likes to pounce on the male kitty and play. They are great friends, they are also the youngest cats that I have. Of course they all love sleeping with me. I'm really brave I have a water bed, its nice and warm, they love it. I keep lots of layers on it, don't want to spring any leaks. Take care Joy and enjoy your furbabies......

Hi! Haven't seen you around here for a while...good to see you!! 4 cats! Wow, now sounds like a whole ball of fun lol:-) So you have a nibbler too. My male cat does that when his bowl is empty, and (fine by me) is the only time he ever does it. Not a bite, but just a gentle nibble cause he knows it'll definitely get my attention. None of my cats would ever play, though I tried all kinds of those little kitty toys (bells, catnip-filled play mice and all that.) I noticed one day the one cat liked a feather that fell out of my pillow. So I got a big fluffy feather, and a 4 foot pole, and attached it with a long string. Voila, 'fishin' for kitties' was born that day. That is the ONLY time they will play with anything at all lol. I have to laugh, when people come over the first thing they want to do is go fishin' for kitties (good thing my livin' room is big haha) Guess the main thing is the cats have fun with it and never seem to tire of playing it. You take care too, and tell your Mom I said hi:-)

Tiger, and Creamery, are Mamma's cats, to some degree. Tiger is old, and sleeps a lot, and insists he belongs inside, in my lap most of the time. Creamery is young enough he still enjoys being outdoors. He finds the best place to catch the reflected sun rays in the morning. He sounds very feminine, and baby like, but no one is allowed to trespass in our yard. He eats constantly, but is a small cat. In the winter he will lay on a heating vent so that no heat escapes into the room. When he comes in he wants my lap, and will hug me with a paw at each side of my neck and head butt my chin. Princess is a beautiful black cat who prefers my husband, or the bathroom floor for sleeping. She wants to eat Mexican food and has little patience for the boys. She is the only cat allowed upstairs because she has good toilet manners, and she will only sleep on my husband's feet.

Morning GG! A 'watch cat', hehheh, now that is truly unusual! I like that:-) Funny, out of all the cats I've owned over the years, none of them ever wanted to sit on my lap. On my keyboard, next to me in bed, ok, but they never aimed for my lap. (Hmmm, I must move around to much to suit them lol) Wow,I wouldn't have dreamed that a cat would like Mexican food! (Although my one cat does like pizza and spaghetti.) I wouldn't have thought they'd go for hot/spicy though. Sounds like you have a lot of different cat personalities there!!

Timus is a "mixer" and so is Booboo. Oliver often goes looking for trouble, but he can be very sweet too. Rygel is our "uncle" cat, he often steps in and helps with kittens. He's also our smart cat, he'd be solving mysteries if we had any. Gabby is a big coward, but she's got her fair share of adventures... Elmer is a bully, and he's often found cuddling with Rygel, but as soon as a human shows their face, he's outta there! Ping is the brave Wonder Twin and Pong is the lover one, but they both come for cuddles with me at night. Prissy doesn't particularly like to be picked up, but she wants to be close to us, while Taillight will stand on us and kneed. Tony is a big sweet lover who doesn't like to be cold. He's not too good at jumping, for whatever reason.

Oh my gosh, they all sound so adorable! Thanks for taking the time to show me how each one of them has their own distinct, and different, personalities. Gabby's coward trait, and Taillight's kneeding trait is exactly how my one cat, Garfield, is. The one and only time we had a mouse get in the house (long story: door open to bring plants in) I put him in the kitchen. To my way of thinking: cat and mouse in kitchen together...no prob. Hahaha, that cat freaked out and went running half up the wall to get out of there. That was 2 falls ago, and to this day he will still NOT go into the kitchen, for any reason lol. Gotta love the fur-babies!! Have a good evening ElicBxn!

All of my cats have different personalities! It's so funny that you mentioned you have a fat cat like Garfield. I have a cat who looks exactly like Garfield, (though she's female), and she's chubby too. I think it's adorable though. She just lounges around all day. She's very loving. I have a black cat named Tequila who is wild. We got her when she was a kitten, and she's never settled down. She's so hilarious sometimes. I have another cat named Chronic, whose a tuxedo cat. She acts like a mom towards Tequila. She's very skiddish but a loving cat nonetheless. Then, I have a cat Patches who I've had for a really long time. She just loves to be loved. She's happy as long as you're petting her. She can be pretty bossy, but she's all around a loving cat. It's so interesting how unique animals can be and how they differ from one another...Just like people!
