I used to, not like eating oatmeal before. But after I have read & experienced its health benefits, such as helping in the lowering of cholesterol , I now always have a bowl of it for breakfast. I specially like the Honey & Banana flavor. I would put milk , a bit of sugar and mix it well to some hot water. Sometimes, I would put real chunks of bananas or strawberries. I would pair eating it with eggs, cooked in any way, or with hotdog, or any cold cuts. But it could actually be eaten at any time of the day. Though, for me , I prefer it for my breakfast.

Oats are an excellent source of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, thiamine, iron, beta-glucan and the antioxidants known as avenanthramides (which may help promote healthy circulation). Oatmeal is not only to eat because is good to treat acne Many people swear by oatmeal as a natural remedy to acne. One easy recipe is to cook up some of the stuff, let cool until lukewarm, then apply to the affected areas. Let stand for several minutes, then rinse. If you have oatmeal and you don't want to eat it, you can use it to neutralize odors. Few realize that oatmeal can help absorb odors. Try placing an open container of the stuff in your fridge. Some people use oatmeal to line ashtrays and claim the flakes help neutralize the smell of smoke. And you have soothe dry or irritated skin People have been using oatmeal to promote healthy, beautiful skin for a long time. It can provide soothing relief from sunburn, poison ivy, or other irritations and is said to heal skin and open pores.

hi:) a few years back I had a weird way of eating oatmeal, I don't cook it or add anything in it, I eat it directly from the packaging, hehe I know weird isn't it? but now I already cook it and add some cocoa and sweetened milk then partner it with sausage or fried pork or chicken. I usually eat it in the morning too or midnight snack.

Really? You eat it just like that? Well, at least now you know how it should be properly prepared and be given its health benefits. And besides cooking it, makes it more palatable. It could indeed be partnered with our usual viands.

Yes, oats are good for you. It is our traditional breakfast food and cultures eating a large proportion of oatmeal and oily fish have a lower prevalence of many diseases. We make porridge from rolled oats (Better than ground) by adding 100 gms to 200 ml of boiling water and served without sugar or milk has a mild nutty taste all the best urban

Oh, i don't like eating oatmeal without putting milk. But my husband, being lactose intolerant does not put milk in his oatmeal. He simply just puts sugar to taste. I might as well look for rolled oats. I can prepare them on Saturdays and Sundays, where i don't have to hurry in preparing breakfast, since it's our rest days from work.

It's same with me. Before eating oatmeal is not common in our family. Maybe because oats are not that popular in our country. The price then I guess are much higher not like today where more brands are on sale and due to competition their price are more affordable. Three times a week my wife cook oats for breakfast. Oats have many health benefits and are fiber rich which helps us regulate our bowel movement.

It's good that your wife gets to cook oatmeal for breakfast at least 3x a week. It's a nice alternative to eating rice in the morning. It doesn't have a sugar forming effect in our blood , like what rice does if we tend to eat a lot. And i agree that we Filipinos are not used to eating oatmeal. But at least now, we are slowly eating them for breakfast and sometimes for snacks.

My first taste of oatmeal was when i was 8 and my mother put some choco malt and milk into it. It was yucky for me the first time but then i got used to the taste and i liked it then. I love oatmeal, though i didn't know then that it has a lot of health benefits i continued eating it nonetheless.

Mostly, firs timers in eating oatmeal would not like it actually. But as they get used to the taste and learn how to enhance the taste, they eventually like it, just like yours and my experience.

Hi SIMPLYD, after knowing that eating the required amount of oatmeal regularly will help to lower the bad cholesterol. I had tried to have it twice a day to see whether it's effective My younger brother had tried and saying that it worked pretty well after taking it as breakfast and late afternoon daily for the whole month. But he said that it's really awesome to take the same food for such a long time. Other than boiled rice oatmeal is my favorite food too, so it won't be any problem for me to take it daily Of course it would taste heavenly if it goes together with other delicious ingredients like what you have mentioned above. I like to have it as breakfast just as simple as to stir it with apple cider vinegar and salty miso or replace it with honey if I really don't want to take any salty food that morning. Happy posting and have a nice day

Yeah SIMPLYD, I understand that different people have their own favorite tastes in eating. I think I'm rather freaky in others eyes even my hubby also thinks like this too...the way I eat oatmeal. Of course the cider would make the meal taste sour but I love the sour taste with honey added to it. Taking apple cider vinegar would help to prevent the blood pressure going up My hubby never likes to eat oatmeal at all but loves the local made noodle very much, especially curry noodle. He never feels bored to take it often

I like oatmeal, even before I knew the health benefits. I like making mine from rolled oats, then adding whatever fruit is in season, topped with a yoghurt it is a very tasty and nutritious breakfast. I used to get oatmeal bread at a store near where I lived, but they no longer have it, so I have found a recipe to try at home, I will make it one of these days. Then there are oatmeal cookies which are very tasty.

Oh that was so nice of you to be preparing your oatmeal bread. That's the nice thing of not having to work a full time 8 hour job everyday. You get to prepare foods the natural way , such as those rolled oats. It's indeed different if the oatmeal is cooked. The oatmeal seemed to expand a lot and they are tastier, even with some milk only.

Well my friend, to take away the boredom in eating oatmeal, perhaps you can stir in different types of fruits everytime. You can try putting chopped almonds or any nuts or any fruits. Plus, pair it with an egg, cooked in any way you like, or hotdog.

I think, as one gets older, they realize that it's better to eat healthily, so that's why we do like eating oatmeal. I guess your taste is somewhat not same as ours yet. There will come a time in your life , when you will finally find eating oatmeal is a nice treat after all. Maybe you should try it, with some nice stuffs, like bit of nuts or fruits. And add some honey to it, so it's wonderfully flavored.

Good for you too, that you even eat it for your midnight snack. For me though, i just like having it for my breakfast. How i wish i could still eat another bowl during the day, but it seems my mouth don't want it at any other time than breakfast though. AT home, though no one likes the chocolate flavored oatmeal. People have different taste indeed !We only like the honey & banana flavor or just the simple oatmeal.

hehe why is it you're mouth don't want it in other time of the day besides breakfast? Maybe you're mind is just conditioned that oatmeal is a "breakfast food" that's why you don't feel like eating it in other time. You can also try cold oatmeal maybe that would change it for you. It's also delicious just make sure you put some more milk.

Some of the things you have mentioned putting in your oatmeal, there is NO way that I could consider doing this, or would try it that way. Fresh fruit though does sound like a good thing, and might actually consider trying it sometime. I do enjoy a nice warm bowl of oatmeal from time to time, especially in the Fall and winter as the days start getting shorter for sure.

Well, my friend we have individual preferences . It happened that you only want i the plain way. I do those things so as to have variety of taste in my oatmeal. But if there's no available fruits, the plain oatmeal with milk is okay with me.

Yes junmae, indeed oatmeal is very beneficial to our health. And i think eating it for dinner would really be good because it is light and the fiber in it will be able to work well as to our metabolism, when we sleep at night. I am thinking of doing that too soon.

I have always liked oatmeal when the weather is cold. I was happy when I found out something I liked and was eating anyway was good for your diet. I usually use instant oatmeal because it is much easier and because of portion control. Sometimes I will add raisins or some other kind of fruit.

Actually my friend, we also use the instant type of oatmeal. It's easier and faster to prepare specially at breakfast, when you have to still prepare for work. I haven't tried putting raisins on it. I guess i will try it also one of these days. They are actually both good for constipation.

Really, there's a maple and spicy oats in your place? Oh, how i wish we have that here too. I will surely eat oatmeal not only for breakfast but for other meals, if we have that flavor here also. I bet, i will like it because it's spicy. Honey and banana flavored oats is my favorite. Just the smell of the banana as you pour the oats to the bowl, makes you wanna eat it immediately.
