A pleasant day dear fellow mylotters, For the past few days, I really dont feel well. As my nerves really feel the irritation and pain. My sister told me to take a pain reliever quickly in order for me not to feel the pain anymore. Honestly, I did not take any pain reliever, since I really dont want to rely on much to medicines. What I did, I just put an efficascent oil and massage gently my hands and feet, as what I have learned from the reflex magazine. And because of this, I was able to gain again my strength.

i think it depends on one's pain threshold. i have a low endurance to pain. but i am trying very hard now not to rely on pain relievers because i learned that it can have an adverse effect on the body later.

Same with me. I have a very low pain threshold. The funny thing is I have a very high tolerance to medication so sometimes I have to take something stronger.

Hi aira, I don't rely on medicines too. What I do rely on is healthy lifestyle and good health habits. My belief is that it's not good to always rely on medicines else our body would get accustomed to it and won't be able to tolerate even the slightest pain anymore. Prevention is always better than cure and this has always been my guide to good health. I've never been hospitalized or admitted to an ER before coz I always take good care of my health. When I don't feel too good I just get enough rest and eat lots of good foods and fluids such as fruits, vegetables, fresh and natural juices and water. I then take some time to relax and do some yoga and meditation. This has always been my practice to good health

Just like you , i don't like to take medicines for pains that i think would simply go away with some home remedies. If i have a headache, i would just wipe some White Flower on my temples and sniff it from the bottle. Somehow, my headache goes away. But if a pain will not go away despite some home remedies, that's the time i rely on medicines.

Yeah its not really good to have pain reliever's for small reasons. I do encourage the natural methods of this sort of pains. You can also try yoga for this as a regular exercise to overcome this problems in future.

hi:) I don't take pain relievers if the pain can go away from massage or rest, but if not, i will surely take one, but only those with low milligrams.

Sorry to have to say this guys but I do rely on pain relievers. I get headaches a lot and with two noisy and rambunctious boys I need the medication. I do try to wait a bit (until I feel cross-eyed and nauseous from the pain) before I take any medication. Sometimes it goes away if I am outdoors or when I take a 10-15 minute nap. From experience, I sort of know whether it's going to be very bad or if it will pass. And if it's a big bad one then I have to get time off from everything.

For me it is better to drink medicine especially in an active life. Life must go on so medicine is really a big help when it comes to sickness or pain. I got an experience where I got a small pain in my feet and suggested me to look for a reflexologist to massage that part. It really feels good especially when she was gently massaging the painful part. I got a nice sound sleep but when I woke up. I can't step on my feet for it is ten times painful as before. I don't know why but pains like that should be touched or moved for it to heal quickly. It was my mistake that I took it for a massage. Good for you that it went well unlike for me :)

I am the type of person that as long as I can hold the pain, I do nothing about it but when it comes to pain or sickness that I cannot control anymore that's the time I seeks help from medicine.

When it comes to headaches, sore throats, etc. I always take pain medicine in order to relieve the discomfort. If it were joint pains, at my age, I probably wouldn't take anything because I'd want my body be able to let me know what I'm doing that's irritating it. Say if my back hurt, and I took some pain relievers, I could end up doing strenuous work that could hurt the injury even more without even knowing it since I'd have no indication of pain. Pain is a way of letting your body know something is wrong, and I'd want to be able to know what I'm doing that's making it ache so much.

For me to take any pain reliever it depends on the pain that am experiencing.Like for a slight headache I don't take any but if it becomes persistent a pain reliever is my answer.

I don't really rely on medicine as much as possible. If the pain is still bearable I won't take medicine.

Yes, massaging of course helps getting relieved of the pain, if not too severe. I do not take the pain killers either unless it is really necessary. I do keep pain killer pills handy, though, if the pain gets too unbearable. Advil is very good for that.

For me yes I do rely on them. Because I would rather spend my time at the PC. I cant massage myself if my fingers are typing. I havent tried typing on a massage chair though. However I am very careful not to take medicines often. I follow their instructions very carefully. My third child is the first (and the last) that I have to have a ceasarean section (it is not her fault, its mine). Those meds are wonderful. But I did not continue with them when I ran out of prescriptions. My doctor must be very good. She gave me enough to operate normally afterwards.

As much as possible I stay away from medicine especially pain reliever because taking too much medicines is bad for our liver especially if you just self medicate. Most of the time when I feel body pain a good night rest is good enough to relieve that. And yeah efficascent oil do help.

If you don't like taking medicine, it is ok for an alternative remedy like you did but however, it comes a time when such remedies cannot work and you have to take another type of medication. There is nothing wrong with taking medication provided you don't make it a habit.
