In my discussion: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2592532.aspx?p=0 I discussed about this festival, tonight we will be observing the real BIG diwali with lot of fireworks, crackers etc. There will be mishaps due to negligence in use of fireworks, the fire brigade, the hospitals are alert. But accidents have started already, there are tons of temporary stalls in the city who sell the stuff, these shops have no license, I asked one, he said the police come takes tips daily in the evening; this is much cheaper than getting a license because of so many formalities. This morning one such shop near my home caught fire, it spread to the cloth shops on the street and caused so much damage. Do you have roadside shops that sell fireworks, inflammable, explosive stuff? Please share your views and comment on this information.. Thanks in advance. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . 25/10/2011

Hello Papa! Yes fireworks are really prohibited here and we are not allowed to set them anywhere near our homes. They are only allowed to be done by official people for us to view them. Although many do it anyways and yes there have not only been burning homes but injured people as well. Our fireworks occur July 4th and it is boom, boom all evening through out almost midnight.

The only time we have roadside places selling fireworks is around the 4th of july. They set up before the 4th & close down right after the 4th. I think fireworks are so dangerous & have never cared for them.I had a roman candle backfire in my hand when i was a child & that was the end of me liking them, lol.I hope you have no more trouble w/them in your town.
