Penny Marshall directs this whimsical comedy in which 12-year-old Josh yearns to be a grown-up, and when he makes that wish at a Coney Island fortunetelling machine, he awakens the next morning as a 30-year-old man (Tom Hanks). Josh lands a job at a Manhattan toy company, where his child's-eye view helps him climb the ranks -- but he finds himself pining for all he left behind, despite the attention of a beautiful co-worker (Elizabeth Perkins).

Such a well done movie! I had a really sad ending but it was such a good storyline that it made it ok. Love the actors and love how they made the kids parents think he was kidnapped when he was really just making lots of money, lol And what kid at one time doesn't wish to be bigger then they are? Bet no kid ever thinks there gonna wake up as an adult, lol. I definitely would watch this movie again, makes us remember that even though we grow older we still should hold on to that kid inside.

I have not seen splash yet but I will have to watch it because I enjoy Tom Hanks. I think if I watched this when I was younger I would probably wish for the same thing, lol but I watched it at 21 but still found it to be a really cute movie.

I love this movie! I watched this when I was little and I have watched it over and over again in VHS. LOL. I loved his job when he pretended to be a real adult. who wouldn't want to get paid testing toys? He was just surrounded by toys he could test-play for R&D.

I would love that job,lol :) I think the character really learned allot from being an adult for a time and I think it changed him for the best.

I always liked that movie too. Tom Hanks did such a good job at pretending to be a 12 year old boy. The ending wasn't too sad. He goes back home and gets to enjoy the rest of his childhood and his poor mother gets to stop worrying about where he is. It is a little sad that the woman had feelings for him but I think he changed her life for the better.

Yes I think it did change her life, I just thought it was sad because they fell in love but couldn't be together. Tom Hanks did a wonderful job playing a kid, but he was also rather young in this movie still but he did a wonderful job.
