I get bored very easily and so I have decided to learn more new things each year. I set my goal of at least 2 new things every year. And most of the time it's in the arts and craft lines. This year I have added a little bit of outdoor gardening to it. I have also learned a bit about how to maintain an in ground pool. Learning more than I realized. I think learning new things is essential to staying young and keeping our brains/minds healthy. What do you think?

Definitely. I think that learning new things is the key to a healthy and happy life. I am determined to study Hebrew seriously. I've thought about it off and on for awhile now and just discovered what looks like a course that I can understand. I do a lot of things and never get bored. If anything, I have too many things going!

I agree. Although now and then a little boredom sounds kind of nice.

Surely, learning new things can help you stay healthy. It's like stimulating the different systems of your body to work. When it's working, everything is trying to keep the balance. One need not wait a year to learn new things. Everyday one can learn new things by suing his or her creativity. Browsing the net for simple things to be learned in a short span of time is as simple as ABC. Making the habit of learning new things is a good one to develop by everybody. In the recent seminar I attended, making the mind active helps in preventing to have dementia in old age. So , i think it is good to start forming the habit of reading, or anything that can make our mind active while still young so that we can retard the development of dementia when we grow old.:-)Besides there's no age limit if one would like to learn. It is a life-long process and it increases as we grow old.

It is an Alzheimer's prevention strategy to keep your mind busy. I have had people who disagreed, but I usually say it is important to keep learning your whole life. My problem is not completing the projects I learn. I enjoy the learning myself.

Well, in my opinion you are right. I have always said if I learn one new thing everyday it's been a good day. What I mean by this is anything I may not have known if I find out something new, the meaning of a word, a new word and how to use it anything useful it is a good day. You are never to old to learn new things. Always doing things to keep your mind sharp is a good thing.

Hi joni Resolutions - I made them and often broke them So I decided to note down and do a day by day analysis. On your discussion you mention about the resolutions that you made... but what about the success story? I prefer to learn as it comes, make a note of it if needed and get on. But of course, learning a new thing for good is always appriciable.

Good point. Yes, I have been successful with this project the last couple of years now. I had open heart surgery a couple of years ago and I lost some memory so, I had to relearn a couple of things I had just learned before the surgery. So, that year I actually exceeded my goal! Sure I have broken a lot of goals, but that is ok. Just keep trying until you win. It's a process.

Oh! That is admirable of you I love and admire people who set aside their limitations, overcome them and try to lead a better life. Maybe because I too am belonging to that category. Breaking the goals is okay but at the end of it You do have something achieved and that is the whole point of these Resolutions(my personal views). Just keep trying until you win Good Luck and Keep that spirit within as I have found it really helps

It is good to learn new things every day. I was always busy and thought I am learning things always but I was wrong. Because I was always busy I realized that I tend to forget other things. I had learned that doing things without focus is useless. That is why I am now starting to learn how to have focus on everything I do. I also realized that I am not acting on my age. What I mean is that I am somewhat childish and now what I am striving to learn is how to be mature and responsible for whatever I do, say, or think.

that's sure. it is necessary to learn new things.the society changes so fast,if you stop learning, you must be out. when a baby was born,he is deemed to learn everything.the more you have learnt, the wealth you possess. in my opinion, all of us should learn as much as possible.just like as a saying goes, never too old to learn.
