Hey mylotters, Have you noticed that there is a mylot reputation in the star near your username? what does it mean? Is it releated with the number of discussions you post? Could we earn more if we are in a higer reputation? How to improve it?

Hi there, it is very simple and there's no trick involved... I trust you know it too... Still here goes my advice. Make sure that you participate whole-heartedly in a discussion, be honest about your opinions without getting into controversies... Reputation'll keep going up and down, it doesn't matter a lot. Don't create one-liner discussions, they create a false impression. Don't write one liner posts either, for the same reason... Good Luck!

so you mean if i post a meaningful and good discussion or response, the rating will increase automatically? Or if some other mylotters give a positive to me then my rating will get higher? anyway, thanks. it is helpful.

One person has let you know that we have had a recent problem with several things, including reputations here on MyLot. That has to do with a server change and is not to be confused with how our reputation will vary because other members rate us + or -. Ratings from others is what raises and lowers your reputation. When you rate others you help raise or lower their reputation. Participate, be yourself, and you should do well.

Hey,gardengerty you mean if i rate other mylotters + or -,then i will help raise their rate of reputation? but sometimes i found someone's response was good and useful for me so i rated he/she +,but his/her reputation has not changed when i checked his/her reputation, why for that?

I do believe I was told it has to do with how your discussions and responses are rated. That little plus and minus sign can be a good friend or an enemy. I think maybe the better the discussion the better as well, not sure how it all works. Happy mylotting!

Am not sure how it work either but, what i have read so far is that. when people rate your discussion, and comment you will earn more. I always rate people discussion, I don't know if any one is rating mine. But it's good when you rate people discussion, base on the quality. the signs are their a + and a -,so you can rate the discussions.

hey,tash01 thanks for your explain. i rated you +, haha. It seems many mylotters do not know the exactly meaning of reputation and how it works. but i think if we post our discussions and responses as descriptive as possible, help others with their problems in mylot, our reputations will get higher.

Although a number of people here have given you some useful advice, please always read what others say with caution! The ONLY official source of information is what MyLot tell us here: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq11.aspx You should also read what they tell us about the Discussion Rating System here: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx Put simply, the 'star' rating depends entirely on how other people rate your posts, so ALWAYS make sure that your responses, comments and discussions are of good quality and as descriptive, complete and relevant as possible. MyLot reward us according to the quality of our participation and just ONE of the things which helps to determine quality is the Discussion Rating System. Many people have stated that "the higher your star, the more you will earn" but this isn't strictly accurate. The DRS affects BOTH your reputation and your earnings but, just as fire produces both smoke and heat, the two are NOT directly connected (or, at least, nowhere in what MyLot tell us about the earnings algorithm is this suggested). If you always give of your best in discussions, other MyLotters will tend to give you more 'plus' ratings and this will help your earnings. It will also tend to increase your reputation.

Your reputation does figure in to your earnings as a part of it. You improve your reputation by participating, making good quality posts and commenting when others respond to you.

I don't think it has to do with ratings. It is more on participation. Try to participate one day fully and you will see your reputation will go high.

The users rate you plus or minus depending on how impressed they are with your responses. Take care not to be rude. Giving a different opinion does not usually call for a negative rating but sometimes one never knows!

I think it has more to do with the quality of your posts versus the number of discussions you create. I've noticed my ratings go up more when I respond to other discussions with meaningful responses that are more than four lines or so. I wish I could get up to a ten!
