hi friends, For me its a routine to set the mobile alarm at 5.30 in the morning but i am too lazy to wake up instantly. Oh yes, i do wake to switch off the ring but after a while I know it is time to leave the bed and start the day. But from today i am assigned by a friend who stays in our locality to give wake up call at 5.45 am for a week as her son has gone for a week's tour with her cell phone and her temporary handset is not properly working. We have to get up in the morning so that we can send off our children on time to school as the school van picks them quite early. Only one incident i remember is that we were to catch an inter-state bus in South India at about 4 am and instantly we got up at the very first ring of the alarm so that we are on time.
Now, i know for week, i will have to get up and make this 'wake up call' to my friend and then may be i can enjoy another 10 minutes in this winter mornings..
Friends, what's your habit, do you get up without the alarm, or feel lazy, or you delay by half an hour and get back to sleep..thanks for sharing.

I am very lazy to get up at early morning...I get up at 6.00 am in a day if I have college....In holidays,I only get up at 8.30 am...When my phone rings due to alarm, I blame the phone and get up....While getting up from the bed,I will not be a smart girl as in my college..... I will be in some moody mind...In some days,I will be in the hang over of some bad dreams...My mom will call me at first time...I will not hear that..Then Father....I will get up on that time....But the alarm makes me very angry.....Some times I pray that not to ring......
Thank you....

hi dassodils, hey, since you are in college, this is the right time to enjoy life to the fullest. For me, it was my mother and then my sister-in-law used to wake me up during my college days but then on holidays it was my turn to make the morning coffee/ tea/ breakfast for everyone in the family. Now i have two school going children and i am working in private sector so you know how important it is to get up on time for me.... LOL. Thanks for responding and welcome to my lot.

Same with you, I do feel lazy to get up even after the alarm goes off. What I did was I set the snooze to 15 minutes so that every 15 minutes it will alarm until such time that I will totally turn it off. I normally start my day @ 6:45 AM. The first thing Ill do is brush my teeth then iron my clothes take a bath and proceed to my job I eat my breakfast in a small cafeteria just outside our office. That has been my daily routine since I transferred from the province to the city to find a good job.

Hi jtj, 6.45 is pretty fine as you don't worry much about the household chores like my routine of making breakfast & lunch for children as their school pick up arrives at 6.50 am. Then I have to finish all dusting, washing etc etc before leaving home at 10 for my work. My husband do helps me at times in kitchen as he is a good cook..so getting up early morning is hard but necessary task... thanks for sharing your routine. My just two cents, if you can make(cook) some breakfast at your room why not try it as every day eating from outside may have cause some health issues.

I use my mobile handset as an alarm. I put it on snooze mode and gets up after the second alarm.

You are right that if we get up late every thing gets delayed and we become more tensed, therefore, it is better to get up early.

yes I do and mostly just before it rings. looks like I set the time in my mind as well. I also wake up from car alarms of somebody else or my little kids (not the elderly) for the rest if I am able to sleep you can rob the house and burn it down but I won't wake up.

hi viju! I set my alarm cellphone at 4:10 a.m and I wake up each and everyday whenever my alarm rings sometimes I wake up even before the alarm I think my body is already conditioned/ or set on what time I need to wake up, but unfortunately after years of working in the morning my schedule is changed to afternoon till night and my body can't adopt right away I still wake up around 5-6 am even when I sleep at 2am so I only sleep for a few hours lately but good thing it's just temporary.

Hi, You are very active and punctual to wake up even before the set time of 4 am. Wow! you are right, our body and mind both are conditioned to wake up at a certain time. I can understand it is tough to sleep once we are up. Sleeping for short time is fine as long as there is no health issues. I get headache if i did not have proper sleep at night continuously for 2-3 days.

hi friend, our body needs rest and thus sleeping for 6-8 hours makes me get up with fresh mind. In college, we never had time limit but you are working so have to follow certain principles like sincerity and punctual. Life teach us how to be responsible and I am happy for you for being on time at work.

same here I feel dizzy if I sleep less than 4 hours. Actually when I was in college I am so lazy waking up in the morning I remember my first class is usually at 8 in the morning but I always woke up already 8 am sometimes 9 am so I am always late. It just changed when I started working.

What I usually do is I set my clock 15 mins ahead of time. If I am going to wake up at 5am I will set my alarm clock at 4:45am in that way even if I am too lazy to get up I still have 15 minutes to adjust. lol!. :) That way I'm never late, in fact I always arrive 30 minutes before my work start.

My routine is when the alarm goes off I hit the snooze button one time. Then I get up once that rings again.

I felt the same, not willing to get up for the first ring tone. But I will stay for at least 10 minutes, and I will get out of my bed, and clean up myself. Especially during the winter time, I grew more laziness, and not willing to get up at all. Oh well, I just have to turn up my alarm clock earlier than I used to be. Like half hour earlier in case I don't get up.

I usually get up at the first ring of my alarm. But I usually set my alarm time way ahead of my required or needed alarm time to get me going. This gives me flexibility and the option to delay and still get some 5 to 10 more minutes of "sleeping while really not sleeping moment" in my bed wherein I can gather the strength to wake up already. I usually put out the fan and open the lights from that time to further motivate me to get up. I also set my alarm time earlier so that I do have the time to do some exercises and stretching to awaken my body and make it easier for me to do things and my morning routine at a faster and livelier note.

HI friend, I appreciate the way you gain your energy to start your day with a positive and healthy note. The idea of setting the time earlier do give us the extra in bed minutes but i feel very lazy for those 5-10 minutes. I know if i delay, then i will have to hurry for everything. Thanks for your encouraging response.

I don't ever set an alarm to wake for the day. My schedule is fairly routine and I just seem to always wake up when I need to. All this is not to say that I don't procrastinate when it comes to getting out of bed. I will lay in bed and listen to the morning news and put off getting out of bed until the very last minute. I am not a morning person.

Half an hour is too much of a delay
Usually if I don't get enough sleep I would delay getting up at least for 10minutes. But my mom would be checking me up to make sure I get up. But most of the time, I do get up on the alarm time I've set

If I set the alarm on a certain time, what usually happens is that I get to wake up may be a couple of minutes before the alarm sets. But before, I do have the tendency of not noticing the alarm. One effective alarm that I have is my grandmother :) I'll just request her to wake me up on a specific time :)

It is not good to wake up suddenly when the alarm rings. I found a slight headache and giddiness when I woke up suddenly. Also, alarm tone should be mild, It should not be LOUD at first ringing itself.

I have a table clock but I dont use the alarm. I never set it, I can wake up by myself, I stay a little bit on bed to take my breath , and then I get up. If I have to get up earlier , still dont need it , my body knows that I have to wake up on that certain time. Maybe you since was a kid use the alarm thats why You are used to use it. Have a great afternoon .

Hi friend,
No, not since kid i used the alarm, but it is more than 4-5 years. It started when my husband was working on morning shift starting from 6 am. Gradually i developed the habit of setting alarm (clock was there for a while). Thanks for sharing your experience.

hi,that's the best way to get up. U know before i got married and moved to other city, my mother or sister-in-law always used to wake me up... that time i had no household responsibilities like the way I handle now. Every time my reply to them was let me sleep for 10 minutes. Thanks Ardoy, you made me think of my past 'good old' days.
