Cookie'd Out!

I spent all afternoon and part of the evening baking cookies - chocolate chip, chocolate chip walnut, m&m, and reese's pieces. 1 dozen of each kind went into the freezer for our annual drop-in party we have every Christmas after school gets out. And of course if I don't have extra cookies then I'm gonna have an angry husband and 2 angry kids on my case! It was fun baking them, though. The M&M's and reses' pieces came from the halloween stash. I think next week I'll bake a whole bunch of ginger spice cookies :-) Do any of you guys bake cookies for the freezer to take out at Christmastime?

I bake quick breads for the freezer and start pulling them out at Thanksgiving. I have ingredients to do plenty of others, right now I have zucchini bread and banana bread on hand, plus I have everything I need to make a fruited friendship cake. I have some candy recipes I want to try this year.

I've made hard candy one year and it was a big hit. I might do the same this year if I have enough sugar and time.

Actually they're munching on them now, hehe (along with the mother-in-law, who eats anything that i put in front of her!) I have a dozen of each kind in the freezer so there's lots still out for the family.

Not anymore. But what I do do is mix up the dough and freeze the dough so in the summer time, I can take out 1/2 dozen and bake them in my toaster oven..that way.. I get fresh homebaked cookies, without the heat of the oven! Plus...just 6...at the most I will only eat 6 a day, but I make myself more responsible and only eat 2-3 and they last me 2-3 days. and then my craving is over so it'll be next week or so before I do it again! I used to give large baskets/trays full of all kinds of baked goods as gifts for my family...so I'd start mixing dough the weekend after thanksgiving and then have a schedule to get them baked the few days before Christmas. But I dont' do that anymore as everyone doesn't want to eat cookies and stuff anymore..not healthy they say!

Honestly, no I've never frozen any cookies. Cookies don't last long in my house. I was hoping to keep the excess M&M's myself to make M&M cookies but every time I turn around another lil pkg is missing.... oh well I had good intentions.

I don´t bake many cookies now as my Christmas are usually at one of my daughter´s house. This year I will go to the house of my youngest daughter and everyone will be there. I am thinking of baking a big batch of cupcakes, decorated with Christmas motives. I will don´t give presents to the eldest children so that will be it.

I make nothing special for christmas and cookies I never put in the fridge. I think they won't even make it till there. Same with apple pie etc, it all will probably gone within 1 hour. So if I bake we eat. I wonder what chocolate chip is and reese's pieces. Am interested in your recipe!

I do just bake a few kinds to share at work and our family gathering. Otherwise I live by myself and would have a terrible time getting rid of them. I don't eat alot of sweets. This year however my grandson will not be home for Christmas as he just finished basic training for the army.....so some of the baked things will go to him.

At least you made the simple drop cookies. one year I took a whole day to make sugar cookies, and then icing them and decorate them. I had this beautiful plate of cookies you know the kind you see in magazines at holiday time. My kids and hubby come home I showed them my hard work and they said yea mom thats pretty and gulp all that work was gone. Last time I EVER put artistic work into cookies! One year I found a candy cane cookie recipe. I had 2 preschoolers home so I made the cookie dough and divided in half adding red food coloring to one half. Let the two kids have fun rolling out the dough and twisting the two colors then we baked them. they had a great time its one of my favorite memories with my babies. We were always in the kitchen baking something.

Masihi I don't bake anymore since the kids are grown but what a clever idea to freeze these and use Halloween candy

This is usually how I feel a few days before Christmas. I'll mix a double batch of sugar cookie dough and let it sit in the fridge over night to set. Then the next day I roll it out and use all my Christmas cookie cutters and then I decorate them. It starts to become a long process after a while and I'll end up in the kitchen for hours just doing the sugar cookies. I always plan on making gingerbread men too but after using all the sugar cookie dough I don't even feel like making more cookies and I feel exactly what you said..cookie'd out lol. But, I love Christmas cookies and when I get to eat them it's worth it :)
