do you believe the devil can have a hold on people?

Hi, That's a good lineage of questions. Actually our knowledge is based on what we have learned from what has been taught to us. We have been taught by those whose knowledge is limited to what they had learned. Somewhere in between all these relay race of passing the baton of knowledge there always existed a science which very few are aware of and have yet to be discovered. For instance apples had always fallen for ages from apple trees much before it fell on Newton's head and mind you it definitely was not the only apple as many must have fallen before too. But it definitely set him thinking and now thanks to him and a fallen apple we know why the moon circles the earth and why the earth in turn circles the Sun. In other words there is always a science out there waiting to be discovered, provided someone somewhere is ready to pursue it. In times of plenty we always think of God and thank him and in times of stress there is always the devil to take the blame. Hallucinations and paranoid behavior sets off paranormal thinking which induces us to perceive things that occur to us in the realms of our thoughts, and depending on the condition of the mind being good or bad, the thoughts too appear to have the same hue and shade. Like in the desert after miles and miles of travel a weary and thirsty traveler actually seems to see a nonexistent oasis, a product of his imagination of want and necessity, but in reality is only a mirage, a hallucination. The fear of the unseen, a semi baked knowledge of the unknown,an incomplete data of facts, and a plethora of fables that goes as around as true stories from times immemorial, with no one to question the veracity of it, lends credence to myths. A simple narrative to explain would be the visit of the stork in the house of a newly expectant mother to be. We all know the stork had nothing to do with the mother, for if it had then all hell would break loose and even the DNA people would be flummoxed to find a solution. But myths have a way of growing on people and every generation feels it is their paramount duty to ADD something to the narrative. Science is evolving and matters get clearer by the day as new reasons backed by sound and solid proofs take center stage. All the holy scripts depict the good and evil and how it finds resonance in our daily deeds, but in reality it is the triumph of the moment over the matter. No one thinks of consequences in today's fast paced life and so we have all this momentary successes. No one thinks too far ahead otherwise the holy scriptures would not be gathering dust in church libraries. All is fair in life now as there is neither love nor war anywhere, it is only a fight for existence. Good and Bad are just adjectives in a grammar school. Success and Failures are the new good and bad or God and devil.

I have a mole in my eye, and growing up, old ladies would often tell me that I would be able to see ghosts and deceased people. It got me scared when I was young. But as I grew older, and realized that I haven't seen any, I decided that it's something that wouldn't have a hold on me.

About 8 years back i was attacked by an evil and mischievous spirit which troubled me for a full month.It used to attack me after 11.30 pm and continue throughout the whole night. I approached a saintly person whom i knew and he gave me the method of how to get rid of it.I followed his instructions and was able to get rid of ot forever.I was not scared but irritated.Then for over 15 years i am seeing a spirit which stands by the side of my bed at night and sometimes during the afternoons when i am having a short nap.It has never bothered me so it does not scare me.As long as it does not harm me i am not bothered.

After we had a visitation from my grandmother and mother we did start getting black cloudy entities down by the baseboards in our apartment. I believe they were bad spirits. We lived in a two bedroom apartment then and they were all new in the section I lived in. I think I did experience one of the shadow people you mention. These black shadows out of the corner of my eye more than once. All times of the day or night too. Now we live in a older three bedroom and we have not had any visitations here. I do believe I am a good person. I think that my grandmother and mother came to visit because we had a new grandson. We have had so many females that have this little guy was really something special.

I think that people can more haunted than places. I think that spirits are outside things but are drawn to them. I'm not afraid now..but I used to be. I have had family members and friends be something that I didn't think of them as to begin with. Never lost a presence. Have seen things out of the corner of my eye on several occasions but I knew it wasn't a shadow person. I think that good and evil go hand in hand...no one is meant to win. I like to think I am good.

Looking at the number of people that die and the scanty instances that we call possessions by spirits sets me wonder! They could all be some kind of mental disorder. I have not encountered any such thing so far.

I do spmetimes see something from he corner of my eye and sometimes wish that I could really see what is lkitting about. I think the only time you dont feel the presence any more cause they have served their propose and have move on to the other side to wait for you. No I really havent had any one turn differnet where I thought they had turned evil. ANd I do think good can conquer evil might have to work harder at it but i do

I have encountered a lot of things, a lot of weird stuffs that i am often not able to explain myself or to people whom i think can help. I believe in God, hence I believe in the existence of the devil too. I believe that people have spirits and i believe that some spirits still dwell in this world because they have been trapped in between - a different plane perhaps (spirits or ghosts could be existing in the world, but on a different plane from our physical capabilities. Yes, like you i have had seen a lot of things too, out of the corner of my eye, sometimes on pictures, or walls that i would see images i have not noticed before... i have felt some presence too. I believe that God always wins, Good always wins the battle, maybe not in some obvious ways but somehow it will always conquer fear, or hatred, or anything that is of the evil side. People are beings created in the image and likeness of God, hence weare born to always reflect God's spirit in us - we may be tempted otherwise but Our spirit will always yearn for the goodness that is within us from the very start.

Hello Cowgirl, WOW! You have a lot of discussions and I have gotten most of them in my email, haha! But I hardly ever respond because they don't seem to be topics of interest to me. Lately, I have been getting much more active on MyLot and finding that I have a view point on almost everything. I find that strange in itself. But the reason I am responding to this topic is that I do think there are evil influences in the world, even more now than just a few years ago. You see and hear about so many gruesome acts of violence that can only be the expression of Satin showing his presence. It seems as though the Bible Revelations of the end times are coming true. Hi SomeCowgirl, I believe in the existence of evil because I have felt their presence. There were so many disturbances in my previous home. There was nothing wrong with that house when I first moved in. After about a week some strange and unexplainable things began to happen. My pets started to freak out and fall sick more often. Staring and barking at an open space becomes their daily routine. I still remember the frightening footsteps that I heard upstairs when there is no one else in the house but me. It sure sent a chill down my spine. 3 days later we moved again. I think all humans are born with some kind of a protection. However,it is wise to stay away from what we do not understand and not ready to handle for the sake of our own safety.

The devil? god is and his children are more devilish as the devil it self and no I never felt something like that.

I’ll share what I understand and think is possible. God is a spiritual being and in creation God created angels. Yes angels have taken on human form and the bible confirms this.. I believe evil will never win over good because in the end evil always nullifies itself, but goodness will always prevail. God is good but I am only human and make many mistakes but I trust in God. I find that people have different perspectives on spiritual things and I only visit these realms with a spiritual connection with God.

i do believe that the devil have a hold on people but it is up to them if they have enough faith in GOD. let us learn to pray to HIM everyday. may we not lose our faith in HIM because HE will be the one to protect us from evil.
