is it time for Manny Paquiao to retire from his boxing career?

yesterday could be the best fight for Manny to proved and strengthened his claimed as the legitimate winner of the questionable matches which he wins against his ultimate nemesis in the ring who is Juan Manuel Marquez. But the fight that will proved Marquez and other people are wrong, seems to be far from over and the controversy unsettled, but this last fight even shows that Marquez oftentimes dominates the ring than Paquiao who seems to move out of timing and often times retreating. comparing from his previous fight Manny lost something in him which the people expect to see from him in this fight against Marquez. manny in this fight looks like a man who have lost the passion of a fighter and many people around the world who have seen the fight will be divided who among them is the winner. it's a tight fight and Marquez proved his agility and prowess in the ring and continue throwing punches to the last round. i know he gave Paquiao some of the hardest fight Manny have ever fought in his boxing career, as for me this two boxer are meant to match each other, though luck seems to be on Manny's side which gave Marquez to react negatively against Paquiao. did Marquez really win from these fight is still a controversy and this controversy will be a tailing shadow for Manny. as for me i'm not satisfied with what Manny have shown in this fight against Manuel Marquez..how about you?

No, i think he has more things ahead of his boxing career. I would love to see him fight Mayweather first before he retires. There is also talk of a 4th rematch with Marquez, which I think would not be bad. I hope he does not throw the towel on his career.

i saw him like a tired, weak and slowing down fighter, and if he fight with Mayweather like this, he's like a sitting duck or a cold punching bag. well that depend solely on him if he'll push for the next fight.

sometimes people changes, let us face the fact that manny is not the same manny who is young, sleek, and full of drive to win, he's not the same fighter who is careless in fighting to hardly hit his enemy if you will take a clear look on his previous fight knocking out the opponent is his last option, that's why most of his recent fight is a majority decision. what is the probable reason. manny now is more of a thinking and a compassionate opponent and that will be his weakness.

i still remember those biblical history even for a lifetime, that even though how Moses shows 10 times the power of God to the chosen people of God, but those people are still in doubt in the power of God, that is the reason why Moses throws down the ten commandment tablets meaning, we see the power of Manny Pacquiao, we see the decision of the MGM Judges, we see the decision of the compuBox sensors we see the evidence that a challenger didn't make knock-out the champion, but still, we are in doubt about the latest wins of Pacquiao against Marquez is Pacquiao a sitting duck, tired, weak and slowing down fighter? hahahaha

I guess it will come soon when the big men from Las Vegas would find a replacement for him. He's not getting popular and no matter how the paid media drumbeat his fake wins, the men in Las Vegas know too well when he should be dropped like a hot potato just like Tyson.

yes that's very true. indeed this is just a game for them to gamble with, and they know when is the time to throw the card they don't need anymore to get a new one. i guess we're being played by these people.

Fake wins? Do you even know boxing? Pacman's opponents before JMM are either whimpering, running away, or beaten so badly they needed to be hospitalized. I guess you dont know those huh?

it is not a fake win, yet i don't know the world of boxing rules but i am a Kung Fu Practitioner and Assistant Instructor so here is why i notice to their fights: starting from beginning of round up to the last 12 rounds, have you ever notice their footworks? Marquez keep on retreating step and advance step only when attack but retreat and always retreating step? while Pacquiao keep on chasing Marquez this simply means that Marquez can't deal the power punches of Pacquiao like a cat always retreating steps backward because the cat can't deal the power of the chasing dog....

Yes although he retains the crown, it is shrouded still by controversy since Marquez did a remarkable fight in this bout. I think that the judges mistook or maybe have favored Pacquiao because he is indeed a good fighter in the past. Well I heard about this rumor that judges declared him the winner so that Mayweather may follow soon on his next bout before Pacquiao really plans to retire from the fight. I think that is the last and ultimate fight to retain his crown with good records. I somehow think that his being in the politics here has somehow taken away some of the passion he has for boxing and the limelight of politics is swallowing him already. I think in time he needs to decide between the two.

Well I think the slow fight that Pacquiao wants was something that many TV stations want so that they can insert as many sponsors in the show. I think Pacquiao could have done it in a few rounds but then he gave in with the request from tv station to slow it down so network station holding the show could insert as many spots as they could during the fight. But it redounded on him since Marquez took advantage of that to pound him bad which eventually weakened him during the fight. Well there are rumors that judges wanted a Pacquiao - Mayweather tandem that prompted them to let Pacquiao won the bout. If Judges would declare Marquez a winner then I think Mayweather would not be interested to fight Pacquiao anymore. But what happened is that to satisfy the protest it certainly looks like another fight would ensue on May to finally close the controversy

i think we have different speculation why Manny seems to be slower this time. but there might be a good reason for this of course. but being slow in facing a heavy opponent like Marquez is very dangerous if the reason for showing that you are weak is to lure a likely but evasive Mayweather. but maybe this will work somehow for mayweather.

have you ever notice that Pacquiao starting from round 1 up to round 8 just minimize his attack for an unknown reason? that Pacquiao maintaining a low level technique while in round 9 up to round 12 there he show his skills? while Marquez looses his power starting from round 10, 11, and 12? we are just viewers only, but if we have the chance to met and talk to Pacquiao personally, as Pacquiao why you didn't attack Marquez as what we've been expected? we know that he can knock-out Marquez on Round 2 but he didn't because there is something fishy, i know Manny Pacquiao have an exciting reasons why he kept on minimizing his attacks to Marquez so, send a message to Mayweather that Pacquiao is a current weak opponent and don't forget to perform a blood test in order to weaken Pacquiao more... so, are you ready to knock-out Pacquiao? remember, the punches of Marquez can't hurt Mayweather, right? but the punches of those Giant's Opponent's such as: dela Hoya, Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, Mosley, all can't hurt Pacquiao? all giants punches can't even knock-out Pacquiao just once? If i am Manny Pacquiao, i will do the same thing i will also minimize my power just to show to the whole people on earth that i am weak, but be sure that i will lead 8 rounds while Marquez lead only 4 rounds

Like you I was not satisfied with the fight last Sunday. Manny could have done so much better. I don't think he should retire as of the moment. The much awaited fight between him and Mayweather could happen next year. I'm hearing rumors that the fight last Sunday was predetermined, meaning that the fighters were told what to show and what the outcome would become. It seems that they asked Manny not to do his best so that Mayweather will have the courage to fight him thinking that he could dominate their future fight if ever. I don't know if it is really just a rumor or if there is even a slight truth in this.

Have you seen the video circulating around in regards with the fight last Sunday? In the video it showed that Marquez stepped on Pacman's foot several times. Now this could be the reason why his feet hurts. I think what Marquez did was intentional. You should see it if you haven't yet. It is really interesting.

this recent fight draws a lot of speculations and question among the people around the world and the probability that the fight is being predetermined as what you have said seems to be picture of what really happen during the fight, of course nobody will admit that no not even Paquiao himself, sad to say he's badly bitten though he won the match.

I am not a boxing fan but I recognize Manny Pacquiao, yesterday's fight was not as good as his previous fight. He's too young to retire but I can feel that he is slowly going down. I guess he can make a 2-3 fight more before he resign to save his good name before something bad happens.

i think that too, but seems he's getting slower this time, and facing hard opponent like Mayweather could be a disaster for him. i saw how Floyd bullied and play with Marquez on their match, and that fight is humiliating against Marquez. if Manny have a hard time with Marquez while Floyd only played with him, then Floyd could really make on Paquiao specially on this kind of Paquiao fighting condition.

I think because he's priorities slashed into Congress and showbusiness plus the fact that he's not getting and you can add the controversies circulating all over the Philippines. All of that was added to his performance on his last fight.

A rematch against Marquez just to settle the score before retiring should be done first. Win or Lose, that match will cement his career into boxing history and it will clear everyone's doubt. I would never like a win that's so doubtful to a lot of people, I'm pretty sure Manny feels the same thing.

yes i believe Manny is feeling the same thing about his win over Marquez. yet everything seems to be going in favor for him. even if it takes for another match Paquiao will win the same..anyway that's my independent opinion.

I think it is time for him to consider that he should take this seriously. He got lucky this time by getting away with the win thhat is not supposed tohave happened. It showed a lot of controversy and i am thinking Marquez knew that something was up, indeed. Manny should have focused on this career, it seemed to me that he wanted to become almost anyone, a reserved army, a singer, an actor, a film producer, and even a politician, he has probably confused himself what he was doing at the ring that time. it is totally disappointing. A win for the country's honor but not deserving. We all know that, no need to argue on who really won the fight yesterday and it is not us Filipinos. Not Manny.

who? anyway an interview with him lately has revealed the fact that he himself was surprised with the outcome of his fight and the agility and forwardness of Marquez which almost caught him. he admit he was hurt and never plan to slow down

I am not satisfied either. In fact, if you will ask me, I think he lost this fight. I did not see his usual strength in the ring. Marquez did well which I did not really expect. I thought Manny would give him a hard time but it turned out the other way around. Nevertheless, if Manny really deserved winning then who I am to question? The judges know better than I do. It was a major decision so he won. Lucky, lucky Manny, he's going home with even more plenty of money. But I think it is about time for him to think about retiring. He should retire by now because I'm afraid he'd get defeated if he fights again.

I have seen the scores though and many experts shared their thoughts on it and even scored on their own.. Marquez did throw many punches but he seldom hit Pacquiao- so it still doesn't count..while Manny threw punches that really hit his opponent. But I agree, manny did seem a little off and i was cringing every time he got hit.

I dont think this should prone Pacman to retire. I think he has a good 2 more years before seriously considering that. This fight may not look like the usual sensatinal Pacman show where he beats his opponent badly or make them run for their lives. Marquez surely knows how to backpedal and counterpunch which made him exloit exposed Pacman face and body, but in professional boxing the challenger should initiate the fight, not wait for it to happen. Yeah it doesnt look dramatic, but Pacman still won...and I agree with the judges.

I'm sure Manny is thinking about this also, and what happen in the fight will surely be another stepping stone for him for the next level of his boxing career. yes, the fight is less sensational and very far compare to his previous fight, but for sure he did win it again.

I guess boxing is what PACMAN is made of, it would be hard for him if he retire early, especially the outcome of his last match has tainted his strength, this is not the right time for PACMAN to retire, he needs to reprove that he deserve his title. About his performance from his last battle, maybe Marquez really trained himself harder to equal the strength of PACMAN. That must be a tough battle for all of us.

yes, it's a tough fight for Manny. and Marquez really had prepared himself for this well craved fight against Paquiao.

For me Manny is still the best. He's humble and he's not conceited and braggart like the other boxers. It's different when you're only watching on TV according to some boxer trainers. I heard before that he had a plan to retire soon in order to focus on his political career.

i think that is the best thing he'll do right now, he has proven himself enough and this recent fight seems to be a message for him to retire in boxing..maybe next time luck will not be on his side.

how can a Marquez win if he always retreating steps and Pacquiao always chasing Marquez from round 1 up to the round 12? if you compare both of them in a mortal war animal Pacquiao is an attacking advancing dog while Marquez is an retreating evading cat the dog always chases the cat by biting while that cat always retreating while keep on scratching with his claws the good of this third bouts is the cat never slips and rolls on the ground while the dog chases because of superior power and it is impossible for a cat to chase the dog while the dog knock-outed and the dog rolling on the floor because the cat chases the dog? even reaching year 2020, that Marquez can't knock-out Pacquiao but Pacquiao can knock-out all of the LEGENDARY and GIANT opponents

that's how he may win PAquiao, to counter and hit him and then move away. but it fall short to stage a victory against Manny. actually the fight seems to be like what you have said, a chase game!

I think Manny has already reached the peak of his career. He's already at the top and the only way for him is down. What more could he need? He's already got everything, money and fame and everything else that goes with it. If he continues to fight, he's only making Bob Arum and the rest of the parasites around him happy. Majority of the hopeful boxers out there could only dream of fighting him and hopefully be the person to knock him out and that is likely to happen. If he's knocked out that would be the end of him so why give that pleasure to anyone? His last fight with Marquez could be boring but the judges decision were unanimous meaning 2 out of 3 were convinced that he won the fight. If Marquez lost, he's only got himself to blame. So far, Manny did what was expected of him, it was marquez who didn't do his part. I think Arum has already gave hints of a next fight but why should Manny bother? Manny doesn't have to prove himself to any one because he's been doing that for the longest time already.

Manny is not just an ordinary fighter. He is also a trailblazing Filipino for the fact that his feats have never been done by any Filipinos before. Manny had overcomed so many challenges in his life before, and I am pretty sure this is just a bump in his life. We should be grateful to Manny for what he had brought for us as a nation. I think it is disrespectful that some of us join some hate forums to attack Manny's credibility. He gave us victory so many times and then this time just because the outcome is not what we expect, we treat him suddenly like a washed-up afterthought. I dont agree with Manny's political stance especially with the RH bill. But that doesnt mean I will also use this as a motive to demolish his reputation and what he did for the country. I believe we should let Manny choose his destiny and not thrive on this pessimism and these usual crab mentality talks that will bring us nothing good.
