I am fed up with my normal dentist because almost all of his equipment is broken or not in use. I cancelled my appointment that I was meant to have today. I was too scared to go and see him. I would like to find a better dentist that has his or her equipment working and that is gentle. I have heard about NU Calm which is a way to make a dentist appointment like a happy dream. Instead of the drill I have heard of a machine that is like a sand blaster. I know that the USA is much ahead of the UK with its dentistry. I guess dental appointments are expensive there. When I was 20 years old traveling around the world I had a filling fall out in Sydney. I looked in the Yellow Pages and found a superb dentist to mend my tooth. I know that I wasn't afraid of the dentist until this one I have been seeing put me totally off. Are you scared to see a dentist? Which high tech dentistry stuff do you know about? What would the perfect dentist for you be like?

Dental clinic should have all their aparatus working in order to properly service the patient. If they don't have it working, have it fix. What for that you are payign them if thay aren't worth it. It's a good that you decided to let go of that dentist to find a new one. You very well deserved it.

That does sound like a scary dentist to go and visit. I don't really feel comfortable with visiting a dentist. So I try to keep my teeth healthy everyday. I think it would be a good idea to do some research when you are choosing a dentist so you can find the most qualified one to deal with your teeth and mouth health.

I don't like going to the dentist. Its so costly for even a cleaning in my area. The long wait in the waiting room makes it even worse. They always find something that needs fixing. Good luck and I suggest finding another dentist with new equipment.

I spent most of my time in the dentist chair, had braces twice. I'm not a fan of going to the dentist but healthy gums are essential to a healthy heart. I would find a dentist that has updated equipment, they are not doing their patients any favors by using old outdated equipment. I would look for one that your friends can recommend, you can even tour their offices before you make an appointment.

I'm not sure if I am the right person to be replying to this discussion because I have a very bad experience last time I went to the dentist. I had to have new fillings put in which wasn't too bad or even too painful, but after the numbness wore off I noticed that I only had feeling on one side of my tongue. I gave it a few more days, but still nothing, so I called my dentist & asked her what was going on. She said that although this kind of thing was unusual it does happen on occasion. She told me to give it two months & if I still didn't have any feeling on the left side of my tongue to call back. Two months later I called back & they said something this can last up to six months. Well finally eight months later I finally got feeling back in my tongue, but still every once in a while it will tingle for no apparent reason. This usually only lasts a few seconds though so I'm not too concerned about that. But since this whole thing w/ my tongue happened I have been afraid to go to the dentist every since.

Kiki - formally known as Jool, the kitten all grown up who was adopted
Lets see... I went to the dentist last Tuesday... the perfect dentist would be the one I used to have that retired, but the guy who's taken over the building and his practice is fine, and my dental hygienist adopted one of my rescued kittens. I have to say that the remodel he's done is great, I'm really happy about that! Now going to the dentist is no longer a visit to the cave, it is bright and open, lots of windows instead of a couple of slits.

I never like going to see the dentist. No matter how comfortable the environment it is, I still feel uncomfortable. It is not only expensive to see the dentist, but also it will not be a small case. Usually I will have to go there a few times to check whether the problem is solved. This is why I hate it. I love China

He sounds more like a cowboy than a dentist. The best thing to do is ask around for a good dentist who puts you at ease and does a good job. I'm really lucky to have a good dentist who does a great job and really looks after you if you are nervous. It's never a fun thing to go but it shouldn't be a trauma either!

I'm quite happy with our dentist. They have their big clinic in the next town over, but they have a small one just a 5-minute drive from where we live. And I think all their equipment is new. My kids don't mind going there as they usually watch TV on the ceiling as their teeth is being worked on. Plus they get a new toothbrush, a small toothpaste, and a toy before they leave. So, I guess ours is perfect for us.

First of all , I will suggest you to do and visit a good and well based dentist. Because the dentist which you are talking about, I think he is not an appropriate one to get ourselves checked. And, i have never visited any dentist till now. I think my teeths are strong enough and they do not need any dentist now. When there will be a need, i will surely visit one.

I am not lucky with my denture! . I have some malformed ones and some spoiled by my own indiscretion. Realization comes slow & late. I have got some treatment in the past but Late every time. Hated to go to dentist. Did not like the idea of drilling, filling, plucking and all such onslaughts! But there was escape beyond a point-had to endure. Fortunately, I went to a bright young guy every time and he was good. He had a good set up too. And most important of all, he was considerate and educating every time. I'm comfortable going to him again, if that's needed.
