And a short one at that!
So yeah, I was talking to a coworker the other day and guess what? You're not guessing! Come on, guess! Alright I'll just tell ya'll, I qualify for apartments! YEAH BABY!
Low income apartments, that are section 8 (or aren't either way) and I talked to the lady today she said I'd most likely qualify for them, and so she's sending me an application, I fill it out, send it back and am on a SHORT (yes I said SHORT) waiting list!
YEAH BABY! That is what this girl right here is talking about! SO HAPPY!
Now I need to get myself in gear and straightened out. By straightened out I mean actually buy containers and start getting things ready, so that when I do (because there is absolutely no IF.. no negative thinking) get these apartments, I will be ready to move.
That also means saving, so I'll be working AND on here a lot more then I usually am.
Thankfully it's the holiday season so they will be giving more hours!
PLUS, if they give me grocery stocking days, maybe I can stay later and get by with it! yay! lol!
So what's your good news?

When I was on section 8 the waiting list was 3 months. I looked at the office the last time I was there, and now the waiting list is 16 months. Unbelievable.
Good news for me was that the brain scan I had Friday came back today and it was normal. At least it confirms I have a brain.

Hmm, I don't think this would be considered "public" housing. It's apartments.. I don't know, I just know you don't have to have section 8.

This place is and isn't section 8. You can have section 8 but it's not a necessity. I guess the housing is already low income, maybe because it's not exactly the "best" built places, I don't know. Either way, I am happy about it.
I am REALLY glad that your scans came back normal! I'm sure you are ecstatic about that and no more worrying.

I am so happy for you. My good news? I don't know of any. We have gotten over the virus going around. My daughter did get alittle child support so that always is helpful. We haven't gotten any memos from housing saying we did something for several months now. And we have food in the house.

It sounds as if you are organized and have a plan. That is what it takes to get the job done. Hope you find a great place and are happy there.

It is excellent news that you are on a waiting list near the top to get an apartment. It is superb that you can save money and do some overtime at work. I hope that you get an excellent looking apartment to live in.
Today I had a handy man around. He put up more shelves for me, put up a consul table in my summer house and put up a dining table for me too. I am very happy with all the work that he did. I am seeing my clutter clearer tomorrow. I am trying to improve my bungalow. I moved here last year.

Well, I won't expect it to be the most glamourous apartments out there, they are older apartments, but I will be happy with what I can get.
Glad you've got some handymen around to get things done for you. Shelves are a wonderful thing, hehe. I remember reading about you having moved into a bungalow. Now what is a consul table? Is it like a secretary? (an old desk that has a pull down compartment on top.. It's hard to explain).

I like older style and my first home was an old cottage. Yes, it is a console table in English and I think the American spelling for it is consul table. It is white and it has a top with three drawers underneath it. Underneath those is another shelf. It came to me flat packed and I struggled to get it into my car to bring home. I like to get a handyman round and he only charges 10 pounds an hour. Yes, I bought my bungalow last year.

Okay, I think I know what you mean by a consul table now. ten pounds an hour isn't bad at all for handywork! Wish it was that cheap around here! I doubt we could find any that'd go that low!
If I'm thinking correctly, ten pounds is probably around 14 USD.

Hi SomeCowgirl,
Congratulations! I live in low income housing also and I remember my excitement at finally getting in. We had moved in with my mom in her very tiny apartment in between apartments. I had to wait about 3 months and it seemed long but really made me appreciate the opportunity to get a place. The rents around where I live are just outrageous and way out of my price range. The apartments are nice and well maintained. Hope you get in real soon!

The rent around here can be outrageous, but you just have to know where to look. The rent in the county I am moving to is generally not so bad either way, but still I am appreciative to find low income where I should be paying less then everyone else around their. I am excited, and can't wait to get the application in the mail. As soon as I get the application in the mail I am going to start cleaning and organizing, and then packing.
I've got one big purchase to make that I can start making payments on soon.

I really hope you get an apartment soon. You are doing the right thing by saving and preparing for when you move into one. I am also trying to be on here more for the holidays. I am using other websites and giftcards for the holidays, but some of the websites I get sick of. This one is the most fun and one of the easiest. I think I joined too many, and now it is hard to keep track of.
I guess the good news I would want to share is that I have been finding really good deals for Christmas. Some of the best deals I have ever found. I hope that I can get them all before they go off sale, or expire, or run out of stock items. I am doing good so far, slowly but good with Christmas shopping. I don't have a lot of money at once so it is hard to do all the shopping at once.
You should also look for boxes. When you do go to move, you can't have enough boxes. Plus you don't want to not have enough time to go look for boxes. You might save time and money if you get boxes now.

Hi Cowgirl! I think that you are doing a great job and I'm really
proud of you for knowing what you want and going after it! But,
I hope that you have stashed away away some "extra money" in case of
emergencies too. I wish that I had done that before I had "gone off
on my own! There will never be "too much extra money", believe me! Even
now in my 50's I so wish I had put away more money (although I don't
think it would have mattered). Just take your time to think things through
before you make those important committments like signing a lease. It
is great to be on your own, but with your freedom comes a whole lot of
other things that you might not be planning for. Don't forget to figure
things like electricity, food, transportation, personal toiletries,
paper goods (tp)! All these things add up really quickly and before you
know it you money is gone! I wish you the best of luck, just take time
to think things through~

I know that I don't have a lot of money saved up, but when it comes down to it I do know how to budget. I just need to get out of where I live now, the place is falling apart and the people I live with are driving me crazy. I have to get out for my own sanity. I wish I could go into more detail, but I won't.

Yey! That's really great news!
I do hope you get it. I know that you've been struggling for a while, and this would really be a great break for you. And the hours you'll be getting at work would also help you in a big way.
I hope I see following discussions that you already got it!

Wow that really sounds like great news and so much to look forward too.
I like moving, fresh start, new start, everything new and clean.
By now that won't happen, my house is not great but I am less there as planned so no problem.
My great news is that I feel way better as I did in the past days, only 8 prednisone instead of 12, a rather good nightrest and with some luck my washingmachine is repaired tomorrow as well (let's hope it won't cost too much money).
And soon (dec 21) I will get married (just waiting for my dress to be delivered.

I know getting that dress will be a great big exciting point for you as well!
