My mom just told me a story before that there was person who sang a Christmas song and of course she asked my big sis to give him 2 pesos but the guy said just buy that money candy and he didn't accept it.. ANd just recently, there was anther caroler who wen by her friend's house and she gave that woman 1 peso because she just hummed and didn't have any instruments...what's worse is the woman just threw the money on the ground and left..how ungrateful.. I can't believe how some beggars are so picky with what people give them, money is hard to earn these days and they should be grateful that people can still give them money even if times are hard now..

Even those who receive gifts from others will tend to replace gratitude with greed and want more. Those who do compromise should revisit the efforts to provide that gift.

THat is really sad and very definite sign of the times. People out there thing workers owe them for some reason. There are generational welfare families too which I think is discusting. In my community we have been told not to give money to beggars by the stores and such that the local government has programs in place for them. Yet they still stand out by the stores.

humph! that iS sad! of course I don't know how much money a peso is! But then, if I were begging, just about anything would be more than what I had before someone gave it to me.. I grew up in days when people never asked for help.. I know there comes a time when one has to ask for help, but sometimes it seems like many ask their whole lives!

I know what you mean. I was always taught to be grateful for anything that someone gave you but I don't see people that way anymore. It seems when I send money for birthdays, graduations, etc. I don't receive a "thank you" by card or in person. I think society in general has just become an ungrateful lot. Its sad actually because it really makes people not want to give.

Hi, Beggars aren't suppose to be choosy since they are not held in high esteem within any community. They live out of people's sympathy and in no position to be picky. Maybe beggars with these kind of attitude needs to appreciate life just a little bit more. I guess begging has turned out to be an easy way to make money, effortlessly.

Yes, some beggars nowadays could hardly say thank you when you give them alms. And when i encounter one like that, i would tell them "aren't you even giving me a simple thank you for that?" Maybe in the case of those carolers, they are expecting that they will be given at least the lowest bill that is PhP20.00, that's why they don't want those loose change. How infuriating indeed! It's just like begging, they just put some effort in it though.

Hello lady. I don't give to beggars any more because some of them are better off than I am. I watched a program awhile back that showed that begging is a profession that can pay very well. One person even owned her house and she begged just a couple of blocks away from it. It looked like a very nice house too. Here in the United States there are many programs to help people that are in trouble and I would rather give to them than to a beggar. Here we call them panhandlers.

By my diffinition a begger is someone who gives no benefit for the money, just asks for it. These people were artists selling their talent. The problem was the person who received that talent didn't value it as much as the artist. That's business and the ones that refused to accept payment lost. They must not have needed it much.

You got that right. Whatever happened to the adage that beggars can't be choosy? I rarely give to beggars especially to those whom I think are strong enough to find decent work. And as much as I would want to give them some money, I also have some financial obligations. Sometimes it just unnerves me when some would even ask me when you try to help but they shun what you gave 'cause it's a small amount.

I know some beggars make good amounts of cash and it is like a business for them. Well not all of the beggars but some do it. So that explains why they are picky and don't take everything.
