Surviving the Move

Yesterday we drove up to Pendleton with a U-haul trailer full of boxes and odd/ends as well as our SUV stuffed with more boxes and luggage. I survived the drive, barely, and we arrived at just past eleven in the morning. Our room was not ready for us so we were able to look for and find a storage unit for the stuff in the U-haul. Well, normally I would have waited for help off-loading that trailer. The pain I knew I was in for was daunting. But I was eager to get the job done so with only my daughter to assist, I cleaned out the trailer and we were able to return it to the U-haul place yesterday. It was a good thing we were able to return the U-haul yesterday, too. I had it rented through today but as it turned out, the U-haul office here is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays so I would have incurred a late fee had I not returned it that one day early. Another bit of good fortune, the U-haul place here was right next door to our storage place! Woohoo! Naturally I was concerned about the pain I was going to feel today. I took my hydrocodone last night along with my new med that the doctor gave me. I was in pain today which I fully expected because last night I was drooping, big-time, during dinner! By tonight, though, the pain had diminished to a dull throb that I can endure and my energy is back up to about 50%. I was able to manage to do some shopping today for some much-needed items so at this point I am feeling pretty darn good about the whole thing. I feel like I have conquered a Goliath! The new med my doc has me on is awesome! I take it every night and the pain, while it isn't 100% gone, is manageable at last! No more three day bed-ridden episodes every time I exert myself! I totally ROCK! And so does my new med!

What's your new med? I have taken Hydrocodone 10 mg and it helps, but it isn't enough to function normally.

I'm taking 50 mg of Imipram which is in the same family as Amitryptilyn (sp?). I still don't function normally but more normally than usual...and my recovery time is about half what it used to be. I take it every night and other than a bad taste in my mouth, the side-effects are unnoticeable.

Amitryptilyn is an antidepressant. Maybe the doc is giving it to use for off label use? I wish my antidepressants would stop pain. Even cutting it in half would make a huge difference.

P.S. I still keep Vicodin strength Hydrocodone on hand for really bad days.

oh I am cheering and doing the happy dance over here reading your post. Its wonderful you got new meds which seem to really help you to live with the pain and suppress it so you wont end up bed ridden any more. Its great you could do that drive and unload and return the U haul in a day. Way to go........

We are still in the motel. We did find a place that we want but are waiting on the background check before we can actually get into it. Hoping to move this weekend. We'll know by Thursday if not Wednesday. (Today being Tuesday) Keep praying we get it!
