Yesterday I contacted the woman who is in charge of the volunteer work on the neighbour island. I asked her if I could become a Danish teacher for some of the foreigners on that island, and she said that there was a family from Burma who needed a language teacher. She is going to call them and arrange a meeting between us. The man speaks a little English, and the woman only speaks Burmese. I think that it will be a bit of a challenge to communicate with the woman in the beginning, but with help from a dictionary I think that it will be okay. I look forward to meeting them and learning more about their country and their culture. Have you ever been a language teacher for foreigners in your country?

I have never been a language teacher. But when I was in another country, I met a Chinese girl who can't speak English in a foreign country to her too. She was hired to deal with Chinese companies in the country and we used to talk using hand language. Eventually I tried teaching her the English meaning of some things and words... I am really glad when she eventually can speak English. Though not really good in it but at least she has learned anyway.

It must have made your communication a lot easier when the Chinese girl learned to speak English. When I was living in Italy I shared an apartment with an Italian girl and we also had to use our hands when we wanted to talk, because she didn't speak much English and I didn't speak much Italian in the begining. After a while I got better at Italian, and it became easier for us to understand eachother.

It is great that you helped him learn Chinese. I also like to help others when I can. Some years ago I had some Japanese friends who lived in Denmark. I helped them learn the Danish language and some of them learned it very fast. After a while we spoke a mix of Danish and English together, and sometimes they asked me translate words from Danish to English.

No, i have never taught any foreigner any of our Indian languages and i do not think that i ever will. I sometimes wish that i had learnt a foreign language like French or German because it could have come in handy now.I had taken french in school but have completely forgotten it.Nowadays translators are very much in demand and get paid very well.I do not like to teach and thats why i have stayed away from this profession.

I also studied French when I was at school, but that was almost 20 years ago. I haven't really used it since that time, and unfortuneately I have forgotten most of it. I studied German as well, Germany is our neighbour country and most Danes study German at school. Today I am not very good at speaking or writing German, but it is easy for me to understand German, so I can read German books and things like that. English is most important foreign language in my country, because very few people from the reat of the world speak Danish and we need to learn English to be able to communicate with the rest of the world.

That sounds like a very nice part time job. I am not going to get paid for the helping the family from Burma, but that is okay, because I already have another income. How long have you have you been living in China and where are you from? I have never been to China, but I would like to visit China one day as a tourist. One of my friends has visited China and she enjoyed her visit very much, I hope that I will also be able to go China one day.

Congratulations to you. I'm sure you are very good and fluent at that language. I really love to learn languages. I have taken a language which is Japanese last semester. Now I am learning Chinese. They are just basics. But I believe I will surely use them in the future just like you. Good luck to you.

I love languages, too and it is always interesting to learn a new language. I have also learned Japanese, because I spent some time at a Danish/Japanese school in my country. The Danish students studied Japanese and the Japanese students studied Danish, so we were able to help eachother. I am still a beginner, but I would like to learn more Japanese in the future. I have never learned the Chinese language, but I think that it could be interesting to learn it one day. I just visited a Danish website where they often Chinese classes, one day I want to learn Chinese

I have experienced the same situation, but it wasn't the English language, it was German. I met some people from Germany in my vacation and I wanted to talk to them, but it was hard. I am able to understand German without any big problems, but speaking is much harder for me and it is complicated for me to find the words that I need for my sentences. I combined my broken sentences with sign language and we managed to understand eachother
