Is Warner another Sehwag in the making?

David Warner is leading the Australian charge as New Zealand is struggling to contain the tiny dynamo. The target is not huge and all ten wickets are intact as Australia counter attacks to win this match. Warner is not unlike Sehwag in his approach and may go on to dominate bowling from all over the world. This match can prove to be crucial for Australians as they prepare to take on India on their home soil. How exciting will test cricket become if we have a few more players like Warner and Sehwag?

I think Warner is already known for his explosive batting. But I do not think he has achieved anything significant to really start to compare him with Sehwag. Sehwag is a unique talent in that he can score fast as well as consistently. I think till Warner starts consistently winning matches for Australia, we cannot start to compare him with Sehwag. Cheers! Cricket lovers spotted the genius of Adam Gilchrist long before he became the best ever odi player and that was when they saw him play the on the rise shots against faster bowlers. Likewise it is not too difficult to see what Warner can do if you have seen him playing for sometime. He may not be another Sehwag but he may go on to perform better than Sehwag, who knows. Why do people cling to their opinions and expect no one to challenge their beliefs, are you one such opinionated person??? By accepting others and their beliefs you not only expand your horizons but also evolve... Kindest fannekahn

See you started a discussion. And in discussions you will have people having differing opinions. If you do not want to have differing points of view, no point in having discussions, right? I have seen Warner for quite some time now. He is a 25 year old boy and has made his ODI debut in 2009 and has been in the circuit for three years already without establishing himself!! Neither Sehwag nor Gilli spent so much time without establishing themselves. Cheers! Ram

you are saying the same thing cheerful one. no two careers can be identical , some mature later than others.Warner is indeed a very confident hitter and backs himself and in that respect he is not too dissimilar to Sehwag. If the ball is there to be be hit it will be hit.He almost saw Australia through to the finish in the last test single handedly and that is what Sehwag is known to do . win matches for his side on his own. He could be another winner like Sehwag in the coming future.

ya players like Sehwag, warner, gayle will always make the cricket interesting. They can change any game no matter, test/ ODI/ T20.. They will play in their style and will chnge the game.. Now Australia is fighting back. now they are in a good position, looks like they will chase it down.

I wish Sachin decides to play like Sehwag from now on. He is the only player who can emulate Sehwag. And such aggressive batting can knock winning teams off their winning streak. Once in a while Sachin should take the bowling by the scruff of its neck and make a quick hundred. I would love him to do that against Australia in Australia. Imagine how easy life would become for debutants and the younger players who can blossom into good replacements when the veterans decide to hang their boots.

By seeing these players innings i feel that they are looking for unwanted shots which can make them out of the grease. Did you feel the same ?

Usually we have seen players making excitement in test cricket matches with frequent 4s and 6s with batting position after No5 such as Kapil Dev, Iyan Botham, Richard Hadlee etc. As No3 there was Vivian Richards bringing great excitement while batting. As an opener Sehwag is a wonder to execute such an attacking batting. As Sahwag himself has said, it seems Warner too is a similar batsman.

Players like shewag, gayle and warner have the ability to convert each of the game into t20 model. As we see Indias opening, the boundaries are warm welcomed quickly per overs. Players like shewag, gayle and warner has the ablity to drop thet pressure eaisly and they help to maintain above average run rate. Because of this simple reason skilled bowlers even malinga and others feeel pressure. The problem with these cricketers is that they look for unwanted shots and goes out.

That is not true at all.Sehwag may seem to have an unorthodox technique but he more than makes up for it with his tremendous batspeed, still head, fantastic reflexes and the best temperament. His mind is uncluttered and he keeps things simple. He will get beaten, he will give chances but if he stays for any length of time he can transform the game in his team's favor. Two triple centuries and a lot of test innings in excess of 150 and 200 cannot be achieved by a flat track bully. All you need to do is to look at his record and you will agree.Their daring stroke play can dent the confidence of the best bowlers. So far as Sachin is concerned even he will agree that there are better players when it comes to playing on difficult pitches. Like Ponting,Dravid, Steve Waugh,Sunil Gavaskar, Martin Crowe, Vengsarkar,Javed Miandad, Inzamam, Vivian Richards....
