On a dark and stormy night, how do you keep yourselves entertained?

Or on nights that aren't so dark and stormy but when you have little or no budget for that entertainment? We often watch a DVD or something on the catch-up player, but I also like to read and sometimes we play cards or a board game of some kind. Sometimes we'll listen to some music, a talking book or a radio play. I like to do that if I'm sewing because I still haven't figured out a way to read a book and sew at the same time - especially as one of our cats is determined to be on my lap getting attention regardless of what else I'm trying to do! What do you do?

I usually would read or draw, I love to draw but often it something I never get round to doing. Being from Ireland, every night is usually a stormy one so it wouldn't really make a difference what you do;)

If the hills are covered in cloud, it is raining. If the hills aren't covered in cloud it will start to rain soon.

watch movies, tell stories, if the power goes out, read by flashlight, play a battery powered radio. I wish my husband would play cards or a board game.

When there is a storm, I like making myself some hot chocolate and then just listening to the thunder or the rain. Something about knowing that I'm safe inside my house and thinking about how much better this is than when I was outside being cold and wet makes me feel very warm and happy.

Hi hvedra: In a situation like this I do some relaxing activities like reading a book, talking to my sister or my mother, doing some mylotting or participating on another forums and that's enough for me to get all the stress away. ALVARO

Mostly during these winter nights, it is down to watching TV with us. We tend to record most things and have loads of recordings to catch up with. I like to read my magazines, or rather browse through them I guess. Photographic magazines and computer magazines that can I can leard tips from. I also like doing crossword puzzles. We used to play scrabble a lot, but somewhere along the line, we got out of doing this. _Derek

If dark and stormy nothing could really entertain me. I can't be entertained by any gadgets no matter what if i could hear the sounds of the devastating storm amidst the darkness. It feels just so scary if storms happen during the night. So to me all I'd do during dark and stormy night is to seek comfort from the Lord. I'd just pray, pray and pray till I fall asleep in God's tender loving arms till I wake up the next morning with the storm over and the sun finally shining.

If there are several of us and it is stormy out it is the perfect setting for scarey stories. There are Halloween dvds with scarey sounds and that is fun too. Listening to nice music and working online is good too. Especially if you are perched right infront of the window so you can see the storm.

Reading, for me it's the one thing that really takes my mind off of things. Homemade stuff, being an artisan can really take your mind out of things, any type of art is good, writting too. Some good movies or old that you might want to watch again to get that feeling again, some good tv series.

Hello hvedra, The title of your discussion suites your avatar I think Anyway, when we were younger, my cousins and I would gather in the living room and tell stories. That is when it is really raining hard and when the power is shut down. Those nights were truly memorable They were peaceful nights despite the raging weather outside. It makes me reminisce. Now, what I do during those kinds of night is that I just read or write or sleep. I love to sleep when it rains. Power failure rarely happen anymore and the internet is always there to keep me company when I feel lonely

Mostly,I love to smoke while listening music on my phone in a dark and stormy night. I love to do that thing because it so cold and my mouth always craving for a smoke when I feel the cold weather. ^^. But if no blackouts. I prefer to stay my room , read something or playing online games in my laptop :D

I always seem to find a way to stay busy. I sometimes listen to the radio while I knit or hand sew, sometimes I watch something on the computer and very rarely, I'll turn on the TV. That only happens when I'm too tired to do anything but sit and stare. Usually, when I get that tired, I go to bed. Other than that, I sometimes have visitors for dinner who stay a few hours.

Computer, if the internet is working and the power doesn't shutdown, DVDs if the power is working, and if the power isn't working. My mother and I have a radio and I have plenty of music.

the library is one of my best friends. i visit it every week and get movies and books which i have ordered online, so on a dark, cold, snowy night here in Canada, i am cozy in the house either reading or watching a movie with my hubby.

Usually something crafty like crocheting....or making cards by stamping images on the front and decoating them.....that's my favorite thing to do. REcently we lost our lights for a few hours and I caught up on reading all my magazines....by candlelight!

My nights are all the same, I do what I have to do or need to do or like to do. The weather has no effect on that.
