Hello Zearah! We both live here in the Philippines... My mother also work abroad and I think Skype is much better to use since it is free...unless your Aunt have a PC... But as I read your comments...she doesn't have a PC... So that means it is better to use our cellphone providers here... Or use PLDT Budget Card... It is much cheaper compared to others...

IDD cards? it's International Direct Dial using our telephone... specifically using PLDt here in our area... I think PLDt budget card is still the best...For 10 pesos per minute, you get the best quality compared to 8 per minute SUn IDD calls...

Yes.. for me skype can help you to minimize the your load expenses. In phone call you can't see the person that you are calling unlike in skype you can hear the voice and you can also see them thru video call.

i agree. Its so expensive to call international. i think 100 pesos is not enough to call in 1 hour. But internet load is lower than 100 and you can use it all day.

If both you and your aunt have Skype and can call from your PC using a headset or USB handset, then Skype PC-to-PC calls are free. If you call her on a landline or mobile phone from your PC, Skype rates are far cheaper than the standard rates but you can also buy 'calling cards' (which allow you to call her from your mobile or landline, not using a PC at all) and these can sometimes have better rates than Skype, depending on the country you are calling. When buying a calling card, it's important to bear in mind that they may have 'hidden costs' ... automatic deductions per month and/or a set fee for calling (PLUS the stated rate 'per minute'. You also have to take into account the cost of calling their special number (which may be a local rate call and may be free or may charge 'per minute'). Sometimes they will use a number which is free to call from a landline but which your moblile service provider may charge for or may deduct from your 'free' minutes.

Right now she do not have a PC or laptop.I can call her mobile phone only.I read the pages from Skype but I hesitate to put some credits from Paypal since I do not own the account- Paypal name is my brother. As I browse online I see this www.nobel.com for international calling card.Still not fix on my move.

I like skype, also works fine as a video call, so I don't buy credit to call. It depends on what you want/like and what suits you the best.

Hi Zearah, I recommend use of Skype than calling her through mobile phone. Call her through Skype in computer shops to minimize your cost further.

I appreciate your suggestion.I have internet at home but Aunty can be reach only through her mobile phone.Someone told me that voice on skype is choppy and sometimes unclear so that is why I hesitate to fund credits on my skype account.

If you both have smart phones, you should be able to use skype or viber to chat for just the cost of the airtime all the best urban

I am not using skype though but i guess it also is better to use if it is for free. Usually if you have a good internet connection i still opt to use yahoo messenger because you can chat at the same time video call or conference if you want to invite many members to join you. If one has an Iphone or any android phone ViBER is free and you could send txt messages and call for free just make sure you have a good internet connection though.
