I have current problem on my height right now. I am not contented with it because I would belong to the average size for Filipino people. I did some research and found out that swimming is beneficial to gain extra inches. Could it be possible to get extra inch even though my growth plates are already closed?

I'm pretty sure i can, at first I thought it was just a rumor my parents always told me about so that I can exercise but it's actually true! I don't swim all the time though, I just swim during the summer at the beach but during winter, I just laze around the house. But I did hear on the radio that swimming actually can make you tightly taller. It's better to start at a young age as you're still growing but once you get older I don't think it's that effective. When you swim, your body becomes slightly more elongated and you stretch those arms and legs. Swim often like once everyday and you'll grow taller. I know a classmate who is like 180-190 cm tall and I have to look up when I try to talk to her. She is so tall and such a good swimmer! Yes, she started swimming at a very young age and and trains almost every morning. She told me she wakes up at 4 am in the morning to swim for like 2 hours and then dresses for school. That's crazy! But now she's super tall, so swimming really does help.

Wow she sure is really tall. I envy her height. I should stop being lazy and get up from bed early to go for a swim if I want to gain extra inches. You help me realize that there is still hope for me to gain extra inches. Thanks

Hi rjat4589 swimming is one of the best exercises and a great hobby and I also have heard it can be used to gain a few extra inches. The swimming coaches who have coached me have adviced this - 1. Try the freestyle stole and try to strech your arms in the front as much as possible while making a stroke. 2. Hold on to the railings and stretch your body out as much as possible. Doing this two they feel will help you grow taller. I have not tried it abut not wrong trying right?? So let me know the feedback :)

yes i think so but it would only be a few millimeters.because in swimming you stretch out most of your limbs which makes you a bit more taller and swimming is also a good exercise for your body.

Swimming - Swim for health.
I don't think so. I know many swimmers who are not not tall. I think the advantage of swimming is it can improve your respiratory system. I know it can heal asthma. Many people also shed some pound by engaging in regular swimming but I have not heard of anyone who gain extra inches by swimming. This is based on my own opinion and experience only. I am excited to hear about others who can share other positive opinions on this issue.
