Do you think that the 3D videos will be harmful for the eyesight?

I think the 3D videos will be bad for the eyesight. As we know, even if you watch TV for a long time everyday, it will make your eyesight worse. If it is even 3D videos, I think your eyes will feel much more tiring. And it will be harmful for your eyesight for a long term. So I am not so interested in buying such kind of TV. It is fine to watch the 3D movies sometimes in the cinema.

I think that, like anything, this new form of video veiwing should be used in small portions. Everything in moderation is my rule of thumb. I am also wondering if there might be some kind of eye prtectors that would help with this. I would wait and not hurry into buying these until I found out more and the cost went down alittle.

Last time when I went to the computer stores, it seems that the 3D monitor is not expensive.

Youless, i ever watched the 3D version movie of Transformers and others. But, every time after watching it halfway through the show, i developed headache and got my migraine attack. Instead of watching until the end, i had to close my eyes and let it rest. So for me, watching 3D version movie is not a good experience to me. That's why, if my family and friends invite me to watch movie, i will prefer to watch the normal type of movie. I tried not to get as much migraine attack as possible, since it will dampen my daily activity. Happy holiday, Youless.

Hi Youless, thanks for the "Best Response". Indeed we should always take good care of our health. Always know the limit on what is harmful to our health, and try to avoid it as much as possible. Hope you are always doing fine over there...

Hi Youless, I think watching 3D videos for a prolonged period can dampen your eyesight. But, watching it for a short time, like say 3 hrs at the maximum, should be okay. I have heard experts saying that watching 3D videos for a very long time can strain your eyes and might induce headache as well.... Regards, Narthan

I think so. My friend told me that she had a headache after watching Transformers 3 in 3D version.

Same here, even my sister had got a headache recently after watching 2 3D version movies in the cinema. Indeed, it is not good for our eyes and even our head as well because it can cause migraine as well. i am not fond of watching 3D version movie because it can caused my migraine attack for days.

I know too much is too bad, so this 3d video is still good to have but you need to lessen the time of watching so that it will not stress your eyes. I still want a 3D television and I am dying to have it as well as having my own home theatre. Since you gave me an idea that it will harm our eyesight, I will do it with moderation. I still want to enjoy the technology has to offer and I am saving money to have it in the future. As I said too much is something bad even in a lot of things. I just hope people will be contented on what they have and not to rush things like eating too much food, watching too much television. Everything has its consequences, has its advantages and disadvantages, so I think it serves the same with 3D videos. I will not make my eyes be stress with technology. I will use it with moderation and I will always think that too much is bad.

Ewww I won't even go to the cinema now to watch a film if it's in 3D, I saw a couple of films in 3D and to be honest I wasn't impressed, it actually made my eyes tire and gave me a headache, I remember seeing Final Destination 4 in 3D and another film that escapes me, in the end I watched the 3D film without glasses. If I got tired eyes and felt headachey during one film, watching them continually I dread to think what that would do to the eyesight. I certainly won't be investing in them.

I believe that it could harm also our eyesight. It will be a big trouble if that happen. Better to avoid now watching 3 dimensional movies very often. I think whether it is 3 dimensional or not, you still have the same purpose upon watching the movie.

I think that long periods might be harmful, but I also think that there might be a little benefit in short amounts. Your eyes will be getting a little exercise with that slight aiming correction thing that 3d videos do. There's some research saying that aiming exercises will help in preventing your vision from becoming weak quickly.
