I just read an article about green potatoes i.e. the ones containing green color or spots in peel or the flesh. The green potatoes contain a toxin known as solanin which interferes with our body's functioning. There are also side effects like nausea, stomach pain etc. Children and pregnant women should never eat such potatoes. Please give details if you know more about it. Also give infomation about other vegetables or fruits if you know.

You have given a good information. Even people who know it usually seem giving no cautions while using it. Though potatoes poisoning are rare, even deaths have been reported in a few cases by its affects.

I have heard of white and yellow and red and even blue potatoes. Green ones are new to me. i can see the potential for something dangerous in potatoes of that color. i would have to do a lot of research on a new food before attempting it.

I ahev also heard of this and discard the green ones. Sprouted ones are alos supposed to be bad but in our city we get these sprouted potatoes in plenty through he whole year and ordinary ones are available only selectively.

I do not use the potatoes that have spots of green because I have noticed that they do not cook well. The green portion has got a raw and bland taste after cooking. I have not noticed any side effects after eating potatoes though.
