I have several Dimensions kits on cross stitch and possibly a couple needlepoint kits that I know will never get done. I have turned my attention to a couple of sites that don't have all the different stitches or backstitching.
If I post a picture of the kit, My question is I want to give it to someone that would really do the piece that can't afford to get a kit or lives in an area that does not have supplies close to them, is it allowed to put up a pic and give to someone that replies and wants it? Not sure if Mylot would take the discussion away or not.
If anyone knows let me know please.

I love the Dimension kits. I use to do the embroidering ones, and there was another kinds of stitching, where all the stitches were combined to make a picture. I have and old mill, and a covered bridge that I did years ago and my dad built frames for them and stapled them in frames. Then I did a huge one that must have been something like 26 x 24 of fruits, bowls and canisters that my Dad built a frame for and I had it in my kitchen for years. I did small kits for my daughter's walls in her bedroom when she was little. And I did a cross stitch of murphy's law, dad framed that one too. I forgot about all of them I did years ago. Boy I use to be real creative. I also sewed for years.
I wonder if my hands would hold up to this again. It's worth a try.

Work on it slowly.
The important thing is to enjoy the craft. if it starts hurting us then we tend to put it away and not try it again or for a long while.
I listen to my body as I enjoy crafting. I am older now so I know the signs.
If it is not light outside and I use my lamp too then I am straining to see how to do the stitches. NOT good.
Also I have days where I ache all over. I tend to do less stitching that day. Today was one of those days so I did not stitch at all and just played here on the computer.
It will show on my earnings tomorrow cause I am seldom on mylot this much in a day.
I love my crafting to much to give it up until I have to (age and illnesses)
Some days I amaze myself how much I get done. Other days are chore days like washing the floors cleaning the bathrooms, and laundry and making meals. I don't get as much done as i would like and sometimes I get aggravated. You know want to craft not houseclean or make meals or shopping.
Take it slow and you will be surprised what you will be able to do.

Excellent advice. Maybe I would be much more happier if I got back into all of my stenciling, embroidering, stitching, sewing, crafting, etc. It is worth a try. I know I can not stitch as long as I use to. Same with crocheting. I am only a single crocheter, lol. Who knows maybe one day I will take the time to learn more. The weather has been damp that last few days and the bones are really acting up. So is my wrist and thumb, but maybe using them more than I have been will help loosen then up too.
I definitely will take it slow.
Thank you for your encouragement.

Hi Marie, Yes we are the same again. I will be 60 in February. I hear you about the pain. I have never gotten into taking alot of meds. I will take ibuprofen or motrin, extra strength tylenol, etc. I have already had surgery on the one thumb, but like I said, we can't afford the out of pocket expenses so the other hand will just have to be the way it is.
I also have osteoarthritis. I have never been diagnosed with anything else. The osteoarthritis is in the thumbs. My sister-in-law also has it, she has had the surgery done on both wrists and thumbs. It is and adjustment afterwards, at least it was for us. I hear you about the pain. I will stop when my hands or arms get tired.
My doctor is thinking I could have fibro, but she really didn't look into it much yet. She did run some blood tests in August to rule out a few things which is good. Our insurance only pays for 1 yearly check up so I will have to wait until August 2012 to get looked at again.
If I would lose alot of weight that would help too. All the food that is healthy for you is way to expensive and not in the budget.
I have a desktop computer. So it stays right where it is. It is on the 2nd level of the house so it is up and down stairs, which at least then I get some exercise.
Looking forward to stitching again.
Thank you
I am sure we all could share alot of funny stories on health, etc.
Hugs

I don't know about the different stitches but I love doing kits. Most of them have the larger size materials also so are much easier to do even if they want you to do strange stitches. I know on the kits I did do that I didn't do the strange stitches and they still turned out ok for the most part. Do you still have some? If nothing else you can pm people who might show interest since they didn't delete your discussion. Hope the year is treating you well...

I'm glad you were able to get some money out of them. I went out on Saturday and bought a piece of 14 count fabric and started the project that I tried to do on 25 count and it is going a lot better. It will actually be big enough to make it worth the effort and it is a lot easier to see even though I still need to take the glasses off to thread the needle and I just leave them off while working. You really motivated me to get started again! Thanks!

I wound up putting htem on ebay and got a bit of money out of them.
I just wanted to downsize to keep only what I might be able to do in the rest of my lifetime.
Most of what I have left now is patterns where i have to purchase the material and floss. thats ok because I really like the patterns since they are just all x's and no backstitching and specialty stitches like you were talking about.
the colors make the piece instead of having to go back when you are finished with the cross stitching part.
you saw my April Birthstone on here there was nothing but X's and she turned out so awesome and what I liked the most was when that x was done you knew it was one more finished to being done LOL
have a wonderful evening.

I'll make a suggestion anyway, if they zap the discussion so be it. My suggestion is contact a nursing home, many of the people there do hand work to occupy their mind and most don't have much but there is usually an activities director who can use the donation and they will know someone there who can do them. There are also recreation departments in a lot of cities that deal with children and adults who come there because they don't have a lot of money and need things to do. Hope this might give you some direction.... and doesn't get zapped first.

Thanks for your comments they are greatly appreciated. I have a mother in law that is in a local home. No one in there does cross stitch. And the activities director does not know how to do them.
Biggest complaint I hear is I can't see it. So not sure about letting them go to a nursing home.
We don't really have recreation departments. I live in a tourist area where everything is about going to the nearest bar and getting drunk. No I am not kidding
I have about 8 weeks of peace before spring break starts!
And all you hear all night long are sirens going up and down the main drag in our area. Its so sad.
Never thought I would see the day when parents would turn over their ATM cards and credit cards to let young adults get trashed.
simply beyond me.
I even put up posts on craigslist in my area offering to teach someone free how to cross stitch
Only got one reply and that one was stupid.
So your good suggestions does not work in the area I live in. Sad isn't it?
My girlfriend cross stitches and she finds out if she has cancer or not Thursday.
She is worried that she will not be able to finish the two pieces she is working on for her two granddaughters.
So I thought wouldn't it be neat since she started them if the girls would show interest just in case and finish them it would be a combination of both grandmother and granddaughters work.
So I asked her and she said neither of them were interested in learning.
Our cross stitching is going to be a craft of the past if we cannot find younger people interested in the art again.
Everyone is to busy being on the computer or playing games on the computer, or TV's or texting on their phones.
Thanks for your help.
Thats why I was hoping I could do this
But if anyone wants any they can private message me if they are my friend.
Have a good night.
