How do you make cleaner with vinegar and baking soda and is it safe?

I am cleaning my house for an inspection and I made some vinegar and baking soda cleaner because I heard you could use this. I just wondered what ratios you are supposed to use and if it is safe on all surfaces? I might end up finding out the hard way because I have already cleaned a lot of stuff with it!

I would be very interested to know this as well, I have heard vinegar is one of the best detergents you can use, so I hope someone can come up with the ratios...

It is a disinfectant and a brightener. I do not use it instead of detergents, though. I put it in my wash instead of fabric softener in the rinse. You can spray it on counters and cutting boards.

Fantastic link thank you. I have mixed them in a spray bottle and haven't seen it do anything but good.I was a huge fan of a natural eucalyptus mix before that but I think this might work better!! Thanks for reply too lilaclady

Yes, it is safe. Think about it in this way. Both vinegar and baking soda are edible, so what is safer than using edible stuff? You will not cause explosion or anything. The only thing is that the house will have a kind of sour smell due to the vinegar. I prefer to use lime juice or lemon juice instead of vinegar.

Oh, I do not mix it, because it foams up. It is safe. Both are very safe. I use soda like an abrasive scrubber. It takes marks off of things like walls and counters. Actually I have been known to brush my teeth with it, and I use it as an exfoliant on my face. I put vinegar in my drains and you can spray it like any other spray cleaner, and use it to clean windows, etc. Both of them are fantastic to remove odors. You can pour vinegar in your toilet, or put it down the drain. You use it in cooking, so of course it is safe in that sense. I have never seen it remove paint or anything like that.Good luck on your inspection. I do put a half cup baking soda in each drain, then use vinegar from cleaning my coffee pot and pour it down hot, then follow with hot water. It will clean clogged drains. If you use vinegar all the time it will keep your toilet clean too.
